1 Navigate the Employee Resource Center Quick Reference Guide The Employee Resource Center (ERC) is an easy way of accessing some important functions of the company s SAP computer system. Norfolk Southern uses SAP technology to integrate and manage human resources, finance and material sourcing/requisition processes. The ERC allows you to interact with SAP using a simple interface in your web browser. The ERC can be accessed at: ERC CORE SCREEN SECTIONS ERC Masthead First and Second Level Navigation Tabs Detailed Navigation Pane Content Area Page 1 of 5

2 MASTHEAD Help: this link displays a page listing all of the various help documents for specific ERC processes. Change Password: displays a pop-up window where you can change your ERC password. Log off: exits the portal and protects your personal information. NAVIGATION BAR First Level Tabs: correspond to the security roles you ve been assigned in SAP that define your system access. Second Level Tabs: processes and links that are associated with the first level tab you ve selected. Click first and second level tabs to navigate to different sections of the system, for example, Employee Self Service (1 st Level)/About Me (2 nd Level) DETAILED NAVIGATION PANE AND CONTENT AREA Clicking a new option in the Detailed Navigation pane causes the content for that option to be displayed in the Content Area. 3 ERC MISCELLANEOUS FEATURES To make the Content Area larger, you can temporarily hide the Detailed Navigation pane by The Options button on the far right side of the screen can be used to perform various functions, such as adding the current screen to Portal Favorites. clicking. Click the button again to redisplay Detailed Navigation. Screen sections can be minimized by clicking. Click to maximize and redisplay the section. The items in the Options menu vary from screen to screen. The option to Refresh your ERC view with updated information is often available here. If you lose sections of the ERC, look for the or buttons. A pane may have been hidden or minimized accidentally! Additional instructions for completing specific processes are found under the Help link and also within the sections for those processes. Page 3 of 5

4 USING THE UNIVERSAL WORKLIST (UWL) When you access the ERC, the first screen that is displayed is the Universal Worklist (UWL). The UWL shows items that require your attention. Note the option to Refresh your UWL with updated information. Clicking a task link in the UWL opens a details page where you can perform actions such as: 1. Forward, Refresh, Delete or Return the task to the creator. 2. Edit the task, create an adhoc request, add or remove persons assigned to work the task, add a tracker. 3. Mark the task as complete and/or add a note (memo). 4. Add an attachment such as an screenshot or document to the task. If you manage other employees, you may receive items in your UWL pertaining to travel requests and approvals, leave approvals, performance management and other tasks on behalf of the employees that report to you. More details on how to work with these tasks are provided in the training material for those processes. Page 4 of 5

5 USING THE UNIVERSAL WORKLIST (UWL) cont d If you have a large number of items in your UWL, it may be useful to select one or more options from the three Show dropdown menus to filter items and focus on a smaller number that need immediate attention. You may use Create Task to make a request and assign it to yourself or others. Create Ad-Hoc Request opens the Create Task Subprocess window which is used to create a series of tasks that need to be completed as part of a larger process. Click Add Task to create the series of tasks. Page 5 of 5
