1 HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN FOR WEB COURSE SYLLABUS Course Code : 6PWDESIGN Prerequisite : N/A Course Credit : 3 Units (3 hours LEC) Year Level: 1 st year Degree Program: : BSIT with Area of Specialization in Web Development Course Description: This course teaches and will provide students, knowledge on the visual arts and applied arts known as design. Students will also be given experience in applying the underlying principles of designing as well as to integrate the elements of designs and be able to produce a concrete output such as web layout designs, advertisements and other visual designs. At the end of the course, students will be able to: Course Outcomes CO1 Decide on practices and standards applicable to the problem domain; Adapt and adopt best practices and standards to design and multimedia production activities CO2 Differentiates and evaluates theories and approaches to complex problems within the design and multimedia field. CO3 Identify user needs and requirements based on a comprehensive gathering of data and information; Analyze situations using appropriate designs and models; Analyze user needs and requirements to determine specific areas where design and multimedia solutions will be used CO4 Design and develop designs and models, components/combine elements and principles of design, or processes with resourcefulness, imagination, insight, originality, aesthetic judgment, enterprise and risk taking approach to meet specified user needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, Graduate Outcomes aligned to BSIT02: Understand best practices and standards and their applications BSIT03: Analyze complex problems, and identify and define the design and multimedia requirements appropriate to its solution. BSIT04: Identify and analyze user needs and take them into account in the selection, creation, evaluation and administration of computer-based designs and multimedia productions BSIT05: Design, implement, and evaluate computer-based design and multimedia productions, processes, components, or programs to meet desired needs and requirements under various constraints. 2 CO5 CO6 societal, and environmental considerations Develop effective presentation material that will enhance understanding of ideas being communicated; Deliver presentations effectively and efficiently to various audience (computing community, society at large, and users) using English and Filipino as needed, with appropriate tone, correct grammar and construction; Choose appropriate language suitable to the audience and respectful to the audience background and culture Consistently conform to the professional code of ethics, and professional norms governing the performance of design and multimedia activities BSIT10: Communicate effectively with the computing community and with society at large about complex computing activities through logical writing, presentations, and clear instructions in both English and Filipino.
