3 1 Introduction The Prediggo Wine Demo has been loaded with real data from Moevenpick Wine and runs on Magento 1.4. Its purpose is to demonstrate the capabilities of Prediggo Product Targeting and Intelligent Search Engine. This demo uses Magento's modern theme that ships with the base install. Results powered by Prediggo are outlined in red (as seen on the image below). This theme provides an easy way of displaying Prediggo's results, but any theme of your choice can be used to display Prediggo results. On the Product Targeting pages, we generally return three results, but the position and number of results on your webshop are completely up to you. Product Targeting applications can be found on the following pages : Product detail page Category page Customer dashboard (after login) Basket / Checkout page Moving the mouse over the small icon above a recommended item slot gives extra information about the product and briefly explains the strategy configured in the back office. The Prediggo Search Advanced Engine has been deployed and totally replaces the search engine that comes with the ecommerce platform. The auto-complete module and the facets display have also been surrounded with dashed red line. You will also be able to see the Landing Page module in action on the home page. The settings of all the rules associated to the Product Targeting and Intelligent Search are set from the Prediggo Back Office Please note that you cannot place an order on this web site, and any order made will simply be ignored. Prices and information will vary from Moevenpick's live site, which should always be considered as the correct one. If you would still like to buy any products displayed on this site, then please visit Moevenpick Wein. 1.1 Useful Information Before You Get Started There are two entry points into the demo: a. Via the home page of the site. b. Through Google via our Google Simulator (recommended), which is where most visitors comes from now. Our Google simulator has been built to demonstrate our Landing Page module. To use it, simply enter some wine keywords and press Enter Demo. This will redirect you to the home page of our Wine Shop. Below you will find detailed overviews for the Prediggo modules. This includes detailed information about the rules used to build the results and suggestions on how to navigate the demo to verify our performance. Prediggo

4 2 Landing Page Module Welcome to the Prediggo Wine Demo Home Page! Our Landing Page module is generating the three products displayed on the left hand side of the home page, right under the compare products box. This module has been configured as followed: a. If the user comes from a search engine (i.e: Google, Bing, Yahoo or Ask.com), then the module will use the Prediggo Search Engine to find the products that most closely match the keywords that the user has typed into the external search engine. b. Otherwise, if the user comes back to the home page from another page of the demo site, then the module looks for the products that most closely match the keywords contained in the URL of the last visited web page. The module has further been configured to return the top products customized to the user's browsing profile if no products were found using any of the above methods. This happens, for example, if the user searched for a product that is not sold on the shop. Please note that Prediggo only shows products sold by the webshop and does not use any other sources of product data. Suggested Use - Select one of the three Landing Page module products and explore the Product Targeting strategies on the Item Detail Pages. 3 Product Targeting 3.1 Item Detail Page Welcome to the Item Detail Page. In this Product Targeting application, we generate three item recommendations at the bottom of Item Detail page. The recommendations are based on the user's browsing profile and client directed business rules. Each recommendation slot can have different rules, but for the demo they are as follows: 1. recommend the bottle which is the most similar to the one looked at by the user, and where the similarity is computed based on theappellation, country, category, grape types, and region. An upsell in price was forced and set in the range of +0% to +30%. 2. recommend the bottle which is the most similar to the one looked at by the user, and where the similarity is computed based on the country, category, and grape types only. Note that products will be less similar than the first one. An up-sell in price was forced and set in the range of +5% to +25%. 3. recommend a bottle that is in the same category, matches at least one grape type, but is from another region of the world. We call this less strict application of our semantic matching a Discovery recommendation (i.e: a cross-sell). An up-sell in price was forced and set in the range of +5% to +35%. If any of the rules does not return any recommendation, then a default strategy has been created. This strategy has been set to find the bottle in the same category and that match at least one grape. The up-sell was also expanded to a range of +0% to +45%. If this default strategy does not return any results, then no results will be return. Note that the top seller strategy could be used to make sure that the module always returns results. Suggested Use - Navigate through several Item Detail pages by clicking on the Prediggo Item Recommendations. Use the mouse over feature on each featured product to validate the accuracy of the Product Targeting strategies and Semantic Matching capabilities. Be sure to add a few items to the basket so you can test the Check-out module later. And once you have clicked on a few products, use the top menu to navigate to the Rotweine (Red Wine) Category Page. Prediggo

5 3.2 Category Page Welcome to the Category Overview page. In this Product Targeting application, we generate three featured products, at the top of the Category page, based on Global Merchandising strategies. These merchandising products are personalized based on the user's browsing profile and business rules. Each featured product slot can have different rules, but for the demo they are as follows: 1. Top Seller This strategy selects the best featured product based on the most recent purchase history in the selected category. On top of that, a price range strategy was also applied and set in the range of -40% to +40% to the user's price profile. 2. Ideal For You This strategy selects the best product in that category user's browsing profile. A price strategy was also applied and set in the range of -30% to +30% to the user's price profile. 3. Top rated This strategy selects the featured product based on its rating within the category. To insure that it is targeted for each user, a price strategy was also applied and set in the range of -10% to +30% to the user's price profile. If any of the rules are not going to return a product, then a default strategy is used. For the Top Seller product, the default strategy uses wider price range strategy of -66% to +300%. If this default strategy does not return any results, then no results will be return. Note that the Top Seller strategy without a price constraint could be used to make sure that the module always returns results. Suggested Use - For best results, navigate within the Rotweine (Red Wine) category to a large wine producing country like France (Frankreich). As you drill down from country to region, stop and use the mouse over feature on each featured products to validate the Global Merchandising strategies described above. Confirm that the featured products are in a price range similar to the products you have previously viewed. If you haven't added products to you basket, do so now and the navigate to the basket. 3.3 Check out Page Welcome to the Check-out page. Three recommendations are generated when the user checks out. The recommendations are generated based on the user's browsing profile, the content of the user's shopping basket and business rules. These business rules actually reuse the same on used in the Item Detail Page. As for the Item Detail Page, you have the option to fill in empty slots with best sellers (option which has not been activated for this demo). Suggested Use - Use the mouse over feature on each featured product to validate the accuracy of the Product Targeting strategies and Semantic Matching capabilities as you did with the Item Detail page. Return to the Home Page and begin testing our Intelligent Search solution! 4 Intelligent Search 4.1 Auto-complete Welcome to Prediggo Intelligent Search. When you start entering a keyword, the first feature you will notice is Auto-Complete. The auto-complete module is used to suggest 6 alternatives as soon as the user has entered at least two character in the search box. These alternatives are split into two sets: some keywords matching the user's input query and sorted by the number of products in the database. The number of products is also returned in bracket Prediggo

6 some products that matches the user's query, along with a thumbnail of the product. The products are sorted by sales popularity and clicking on them will redirect the user to the product detail page Three attributes are used to build the index of the auto-complete: the product name the grapes the appellation Suggested Use - Enter a wine based keyword like a grape, appellation, region or producer. Test how well Prediggo finds products quickly and makes highly relevant suggestions. Try starting typing me and see how Prediggo performs. The click on a suggestion and move to Faceted Results Display. 4.2 Advanced Search Engine The index of the advanced search engine uses the following attributes: the product name the product id the category (i.e: red/white ) the various complimentary names the producer the family the country the region of the world the bottle size the vintage date the appellation The index takes about a minute to be computed, and once done, allow the user to search on any of the above attributes. The spelling mistake module has been set to tolerate up to 30% error in the spelling. If a mistake is detected, then search results will still be shown if available along with the suggested correct spelling (i.e: the "Did you mean"). By default, the search results are sorted by its pertinence in respect to the search query and in term of sales popularity. This makes sure that the products that are never sold do not pollute the top places. Suggested Use - Enter a wine based keyword with a mistake like "merllot". Test how well Prediggo finds products quickly and makes the correct spelling proposition in the "Did You Mean". 4.3 Facet Display Prediggo Intelligent Search also powers attribute faceted results navigation. To the left of the result page, Prediggo will sort and classify the search results into 7 facets: the category the grapes the country the region the vintage date the appellation the selling price To avoid overloading the user with facets, Prediggo has activated the Prediggo Hierarchical Facet Grouping which creates a hierarchy between the various facets. Once done, a user only sees a facet at a given level if it was selected within the parent facet. For example, in order for a user to see the Prediggo

7 region facet (level 4), he must first say which country (level 3) he is interested in. This limits the alternatives from all the regions in the world to just all the regions in a given country. The facets selected by the user are cancelable, meaning that the user can backtrack without having to retype the query. As the Prediggo Hierarchical Facet Grouping is activated, if the user cancels a facet at level 3 such as the country, then all the children facets will also be automatically removed. Suggested Use - Once you have your search results, go to the faceted "Shop By" section on the left hand side of the page. You are likely to see to attributes, Price and Category. Select best results, click on the Category with the most products, generally Rotweine, and you will see the secondary "children" facets. Test the filter cancellation as well. 4.4 Synonym Table To enhance the search, and based on common mistakes detected in the Prediggo Back Office, two entries have been added in the table of synonyms: bd => Bordeaux bordo => Bordeaux 4.5 Searchandizing The searchandizing feature has also been activated and one entry as been set for the keyword champagne. It will show a potential ad for Pol Roger Champagne above the search results. Try it out! Prediggo
