Creating Jump Searches Jump Searches are created in Website Administration, and they are used to create dynamic hyperlinks for ReeceAndNichols.com property search pages. 1. Open your web browser, and go to the Reece and Nichols Today Site (Today.ReeceAndNichols.com). Log in. 2. Select Website Administration from the list of options; select Update My Website. 3. Locate the Jump Searches section of the subsequent page. (It is the second section from the bottom.) 4. Click the Add/View Jump Searches button. This page will show you jump searches you have already created and allow you to add new jump searches. 5. At the top of the page, you will see a Select a Website drop down. Make sure that your office s website is selected. 6. At the top of the page, click on the red link that says New Listing Jump Search. 7. Name your jump search using the Jump Search Name field. Type the browser title for your jump search in the Browser Title Page field. 8. If you are creating a jump search with any other search type but the Map Search, you will see the Jump Search Destination field next. Select whether you want the jump search to display a search results page or a search criteria page. 9. Next, you will see a screen that mirrors the search capabilities of ReeceAndNichols.com. Use this portion of the screen to build your search. 10. Scroll to the bottom of the page, to the Additional Hidden Jump Search Criteria section. (Note: If you are using the Map Search to build your jump search, you will not see this section.) You will find two checkboxes: Return only properties listed by the company This checkbox will program your jump search to only show Reece & Nichols listings. 1 C r e a t i n g J u m p S e a r c h e s

Return only properties listed by Members of the Branded Agent/Office Website This checkbox will program your jump search to only show your office s listings. 11. Click Save when you are done. 12. You will be taken back to the jump search start page. Below the name of the jump search you just created, you will see a web site URL snippet. Highlight that URL snippet and copy it. (To copy the snippet, you can either hold down the CTRL and C buttons on your keyboard at the same time or right click on what you have highlighted and select Copy.) 13. You may now take that snippet and use it anywhere on your website or in the Jump Search Listing Carousel Widget. (For more information on this widget, see the Advanced Web Editing document on the Help Site.) When you build your hyperlink in your web site or in the widget, you will begin your URL with your agent web address (ex: KatieS.ReeceAndNichols.com), and then you will paste this jump search to the end of it to create your dynamic search link. 2 C r e a t i n g J u m p S e a r c h e s

Advanced Web Page Editing Each Reece and Nichols agent is provided a fully functional website as part of their agent package. Your agent website is equipped with the same features as ReeceAndNichols.com, including fully functional IDX property search capabilities. You may customize your website and add up to 20 additional pages to your website through the Website Administration program found on the Today Site. To get started, you will need to access the correct portion of Website Administration: 1. Open your web browser, and go to the Reece and Nichols Today Site (Today.ReeceAndNichols.com). Log in. 2. On the left navigation menu, select Website Administration from the list of options. Then click Update My Website. 3. The Website Control Panel will load. Creating Additional Website Pages You can add up to 20 additional pages to your agent website. Links to any additional pages you create will appear on the left navigation bar of your agent website, underneath your agent photo and contact information. To create a new website page: 1. On the Website Control Panel, find the Website Content section. It is in the middle of the page. 2. Locate the Add New Content button and click on it. It is located in the upper right corner of the Website Content box. 3. Complete the fields on the following page. Any that are marked with an asterisk are required. Left Navigation Title Name your new page. Left Navigation Alt Text This is the text that will appear in a yellow pop-up box when you hover over the name of the page on your website. Browser Title This text will appear at the very top of the web browser being used to view the page. Search Engine Keywords This information is then used by search engines to determine the content of your website. Keywords are search terms that a person would type into a search engine in an attempt to find your website. (Examples: Kansas City Real Estate, Overland Park Homes, etc.) Search Engine Description This information is then used by search engines to determine the content of your website. The Description is a one-sentence description of your business and the services you offer. Sequence Determines the order that this page will appear in on the left navigation bar on your website. 1 A d v a n c e d W e b P a g e E d i t i n g

Once you have completed these fields, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save as Draft. The page will save, refresh, and reload so that you may continue. 5. Now, scroll about two-thirds of the way down the page to the Enter Content section. Select a Content Type is next. (To create a custom agent page, use the Enter Content option.) These are internal pages that are on your site by default, such as the property search page or the Plaza Mortgage page. Content Designer Allows you to create an entire web page with nothing but widgets. (This type will be covered in more detail later in the tutorial.) 6. The next part of this section is the Content Templates. Using these is optional. You can use these templates to help you begin your new page. By clicking on the name of the template, an outline of the page will appear in the RAD Editor below. You can then use the editor to insert content into the template. 2 A d v a n c e d W e b P a g e E d i t i n g

7. The Widget Token Generator is next. This allows you to insert widgets into the content of your page. To expand this section, click on the plus sign (+) at the beginning of the section. (The Widget Token Generator will be covered in more detail later in this tutorial.) 8. If you selected Enter Content in step 5: On the bottom half of the page, you will see the RAD Editor. It resembles Microsoft Word. Use this editor to create the custom viewport for your homepage. (For more information on using the RAD Editor, see the Tips & Tricks: RAD Editor tutorial located on the Help site.) 9. If you selected External Link in step 5: Type or paste the URL of the site you would like to link to in the field. Choose one of the three radio button options located just below the field. Your options are Page appears in same window, Page appears in a new window, and Page appears in a new company-branded window. 10. If you selected Internal Link in step 5: Type or paste the portion of the page URL that appears after the.com into the field. Choose one of the two radio button options located just below the field. Your options are Page appears in same window and Page appears in a new window. 11. Once you have made the desired changes to your website, click on the Submit for Approval button located at the bottom of the page. (If you wish to simply save the page but do not want to publish it to your website at this time, click on Save as Draft instead.) 12. A pop-up box will appear, asking you if you wish to submit this content for approval. Click Ok. 13. The changes you have made will be submitted to the Help Desk for approval. Once they have approved your website, you will receive an notification notifying you of this fact. 14. To return to the previous page, click the Cancel button at the bottom of the page. Widget Token Generator The Widget Token Generator allows you to easily insert dynamic features to your web pages quickly and easily. When understanding the Widget Token Generator, you first need to understand what a widget is and what a token is. A widget is a feature provides you with a dynamic website feature and allows you to use this same feature over and over again throughout your website. Examples of widgets are the RSS Feed Reader widget, which allows you to display a feed of articles from a website or blog, and the Rotating Ad widget, which allows you to display ad blocks from the Reece & Nichols 2009 Marketing Campaign. A token is simply a small piece of code that is inserted into your web page at the exact location that you would like to use the widget. To use the Widget Token Generator: 1. In Website Administration, on the Website Control Panel, find the Website Content section. It is in the middle of the page. 2. You can either 3 A d v a n c e d W e b P a g e E d i t i n g

Content Designer The Content Designer is one of four different types of pages that you can create using Website Administration. The Content Designer allows you to create an entire web page with nothing but widgets. This is beneficial because it allows you to easily create advanced interactive web pages. To use the Content Designer: 1. In Website Administration, on the Website Control Panel, find the Website Content section. It is in the middle of the page. 2. Add a new page by clicking on the Add New Content button. It is located in the upper right corner of the Website Content box. 3. Once your web page loads, give your page at least a name (using the Left Navigation Title field) and a sequence. 4. Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click Save as Draft. You must save a page before you can use the Content Designer. 5. Once the page saves and reloads, scroll about one-third the way down the page to the Select a Content Type section. Select the Content Designer radio button. The page will then change slightly as the Content Designer loads. 6. You will now see a Select Widget dropdown menu and a Widgets Added section. We will use the dropdown to select the widget we would like to add. Once a widget is added, it will drop into the Widgets Added section, where we can then edit the order of the widgets. 7. It is important to note that in essence, the Content Designer consists of 3 invisible columns. Each widget must be the width of either 1 column, 2 columns, or 3 columns. Special Note: In the Select Widget dropdown menu, some widgets will include the word small, medium, or large in the name. If the widget s name contains the word small, then this widget will be 1 column in width. If the widget s name contains the word medium, then this widget will be 2 columns in width. If the widget s name contains the word large, then this widget will be 3 columns in width. If the widget does not contain any of these words in the title, then assume that the widget is only 1 column in width. Keep this in mind as you layout your page. 8. To add a widget to your page, simply select a widget from the Select Widget dropdown menu and click Add Widget. 9. Once you click Add Widget, some widgets will pop-up a separate grey, Add Widget box that you will need to complete. Below you will find a detailed description of how to complete this box for each widget. Once you have completed the box, click Add Widget at the bottom of the grey box. All of the widgets outlined in the previous section (Widget Token Generator) are also used and included in the Content Designer. For more information on those widgets, please see the Widget Token Generator section. However, there are 3 additional widgets that can be used in the Content Designer, and those are outlined below: 8 A d v a n c e d W e b P a g e E d i t i n g
