2 Note: The intention of the below listing is to highlight enhancements that have been added to the product. The below does not list defect fixes that also have been made within these release cycles, nor releases that only contain defect fixes. For these type of details, please refer to the Release Notes available with each release RELEASE Main Enhancements Integration with 3E 2.7 Design Gallery 2.6 is the preferred and recommended document automation solution for 3E E 2.7 comes with bundled Design Gallery integration. In addition, Design Gallery can be used in a standalone form if needing more advanced output and distribution capabilities. Text-to-XML Designer Also known as TtX Designer, is a newly available desktop application available for users to convert text files to XML for processing within Design Gallery. As Design Gallery is an XML-centric solution, data must be in XML format to flow end-to-end through the product. For environments where the host system is not able to generate XML data natively, Text-to-XML Designer can be used to create a Design Gallery converter template that will be applied to the data to convert it to XML before further processing takes place. Note: Text-to-XML Designer is not needed for environments where the host system is able to generate data as XML natively. An example of such an environment is 3E. Enhanced component sharing and richer deployments Solution components (AKA the building blocks of your formats) are now completely standalone, enabling multiple solutions to fully share and reuse the same components for building a variety of document output. In addition, supporting solution parts (such as generators, matches, converters, and templates) are now deployed to the Solution Repository making deployment and management of these pieces easier. Improved validation, logging, and troubleshooting Checks to ensure the product is configured properly and improvements to logging have been implemented to provide more insight, making it easier to determine what failed, when it failed, and why. Solution Manager, Server, and Print Service improvements All of the Design Gallery components have been updated and enhanced in the v2.6 release. More than 30 enhancements have been made in this release. It is designed with several time-saving enhancements to improve your firm s document production. Please find the main feature listing below: Word-like design experience The Visual Designer user interface is similar to that of Microsoft Word, allowing users to create and see the layout as they go. This familiar experience also provides users the ability to quickly pick up the tool and start using it without much additional training. XSL Toolset and XPath Builder Visual Designer comes prepackaged with a number of XSL tools to allow users to quickly define dynamic content and logic for their document output. XSL tools exist for conditions, loops, values, call templates, and sub-document links. In addition, an XPath Builder is centric to Visual Designer, allowing easy and consistent navigation and interaction with XML content. It comes in two modes: a simple mode allowing users to drag and drop content onto their design canvas and an advanced mode called the XPath Expression Builder which gives the user more control over the XPath statements being defined. Importing and exporting Visual Designer offers tools to allow the importing of Microsoft Word documents and existing hand-coded (XSL) components. This provides users with a great starting point to reuse work that may already have been completed outside of Visual Designer. Users can also export to the XSL format to use their designs with other applications not aware of Visual Designer s file format, such as Design Gallery v2 releases. XSD Schema Support The use of an XSD schema is fully supported with Visual Designer. In fact, the use of an XSD schema, when one is available, is the recommended approach for component design with Visual Designer, as it allows a solution developer to work with fields that may otherwise not be available within their sample source files. Previews A preview bar provides a quick and accurate rendering of the output as generated by the Design Gallery engine. The user can quickly select the output type they want to preview along with the sample source file they wish to use RELEASE (SERVER ONLY UPDATE) Support for the deletion of append source files The ability to delete the source files used for appending has been added Support for appending PDF documents Support has been added to append multiple PDF documents into one output PDF. Performance using PDFs is greatly improved compared to using DOC files. Support for PDF security for append files The PDF security functionality that is available on the normal distribution has now been enabled for append files Support for duplexing of appended PDFs 2

4 RELEASE (SERVER ONLY UPDATE) PDF security permissions have been added to certificate signing The PDF Security feature set has been expanded to allow PDF permissions to also function when setting a digital signature and certificate on a PDF document. Previously, they were only supported when setting an encryption password. Note: To implement security on 3E Attachments, version 2.0 and greater of the 3E Attachment plugin is required RELEASE (SOLUTION MANAGER ONLY UPDATE) Performance improvements for implementations having many deployed solutions Solution Manager has been updated to use the same version of Aspose used in Design Gallery Server RELEASE (PRINT SERVICE) Printer Discovery A new Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) service is now available that exposes a method for getting a list of the printers installed on the hosted machine Support for cross batch printing The ability has now been added to allow batch information to be specified via the custom document properties. This enhances batch printing to be more flexible so that batching can now be used when a batch spans across multiple originating source files Release New core engine and services Backed by a workflow technology based on Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), offering a lasting technical solution that promotes reusability and high flexibility Support for load balancing, allowing for processing to be distributed across multiple servers Core functionality compartmentalized as reusable and extensible workflow activities Fully Visual Designer aware. No need to manually export the Visual Designer.VDC files to.xsl for use with the product. Standardized logging mechanism allows you to view, aggregate, and correlate all necessary information in one place Administration tools now available Environment Configuration Tool A tool to allow the definition of environments used by the Administration tools that enables easy switching between defined environments (such as Development, Test, Production) Publisher A tool to allow the publishing of solutions to the engine. Includes 3E synchronization and export/import capabilities Instance Manager A tool to view and manage the solutions that have been published to the engine along with executing (or executed) instances Property Bag Manager A tool to view and manage common information needed across multiple solutions in a central area for easy maintenance and updating at a global level Improved design experience Redesigned Solution Manager with an updated user interface Versioning control (repository integration) with offline support Seamless Visual Designer integration lets you create components in a create-and-see as you go experience A new Process Manager Designer gives you complete control over the document automation processes (right from acquisition through to distribution) Additional third party certifications Windows 10 Support SQL Server 2016 Support RELEASE (SOLUTION MANAGER ONLY UPDATE) Full XPath Builder Integration (formerly available for Visual Designer only) XPath Builder allows easy and consistent navigation and interaction with XML content. It comes in two modes: a simple mode allowing users to drag and drop content on to their XSL editor, and an advanced mode called the "XPath Expression Builder" which gives the user more control over the XPath statements being defined. XSL Editor Snippets The XSL editor control now has a snippet system which will allow for the user to define frequently used blocks of xml/xsl. This will help expedite stylesheet development and reduce the likelihood for malformed XSL. Advanced Find and Replace All find and replace dialogs throughout Solution Manager are now consolidated and will search across multiple documents as well as document types (Visual Designers and XSL components) Visual Designer Header and Footer Components Solution Manager now supports Visual Designs for header and footer components; easily accessed through the component creation list Source File Integration Solution Manager will now handle source file and schema file logic for XPath Builder, Visual Designer, and Document Preview functions. This will allow users to define test data once for a solution, rather than defining it for each component. Save All Solution Manager now provides a quick way to save all unsaved changes across all opened (and edited) documents Upgrade to Visual Designer v1.1.0 The integrated Visual Designer plugin bundled with Solution Manager has now been updated to the latest available version 3

This is very useful for cheque development. Xsl insert has been provided a toggle to optionally enable or disable certain pieces of information, allowing for more flexible designs and expedited troubleshooting A comments field has been added to Xsl insert in order to promote higher collaboration on complex components. This will allow solution developers or support analysts to more quickly identify complex logic. A number of enhancements have been made to the paragraph and table property controls, allowing more flexible Visual Designs A custom page setup can be used to ensure your Visual Design fits accordingly to the intended printed paper source. This is great for designing components with variable paper sizes. For more advanced components, we have enabled an xsl override for table properties. This will allow you to perform more complicated table definitions that may not be otherwise accurately represented with a Visual Design, particularly for overlay tables and absolute and relative positioning external to other document content Activities NetDocuments activity providing the ability to automatically submit, profile, and secure documents in NetDocuments Printer Discovery Activities are now available to get information about the installed printers on the hosted machine.
