Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 1
Getting help In the upper right corner of the screen, you will see the Help and Contact Us links. The Help link provides access to useful information; the Contact Us link opens an to Omega s technical support team. Accessing a program or assessment In the Current Learning Modules, you will see each program or assessment in which you are enrolled. To open a program or assessment, click the black circle just to the lower left of the program or assessment name or click the name of the program or assessment. You will see a list of all the modules in your program. To access the components of a module, click the black circle to the left of that module or click the name of the module. The components will be displayed below, with a gray background. Depending on your organization s preferences, you may see a module pretest, the elearning module, and the module posttest ; or you may have been assigned only some of those components. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 2
Accessing a module To open an elearning module, click the item marked Online content in the gray expanded menu. A new browser window will open, and your module will load in that window. Completing a module An elearning module is marked as complete when you have opened every screen in the module and have completed the Progress Check at the end of the module. When you complete a module, the module will no longer appear in the Current Learning Modules menu; it has relocated. Click the Training Records tab, then select Records/Transcripts; you will then see the module listed as Completed in the Status column of the Records/Transcripts tab. Reopening a module after completion If you would like to continue to access a completed elearning module, you may move it back to the Current Learning Modules menu. Here s how: 1. Click the Training Records tab and select Records/ Transcripts. Locate the completed module in the list on the Records/Transcripts page. 2. Click the name of the module you wish to reopen. You will now see the Learning History of that module. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 3
3. In the Learning History, at the bottom of the Details section, beside the Overall Status listing, you will see the word Reopen. Click Reopen. 4. A message will tell you that the module may now be accessed from your current learning modules list. Click OK. 5. To access the reopened module, click the Training Records tab, select Current Learning Modules, and reopen the program by clicking the black circled arrow. You will now see the completed module listed there, and you can open and review it again. 2. Assessment Navigation Omega elearning assessments may be among your enrolled modules. All Omega assessments whether module or program pretests or posttests, or other assessment tools such as the Credit Skills Inventory are accessed the same way, through the LMS. Follow the instructions in the first section of this document to log in and locate your assessments in the Enrolled Learning Modules menu. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 4
Opening the assessment Click the name of the assessment to open it. A Welcome page similar to the example below will be displayed. This page provides instructions and explains the features of your assessment, including: The number of questions in the assessment The passing score for the assessment The maximum amount of time allowed for the assessment Whether you will be able to exit the assessment and reenter it again if you are interrupted: if the summary of exam restrictions indicates Yes beside Incomplete attempts may be resumed later, you can exit the exam and return. If it says No, you must complete the exam and submit your results in a single sitting. When you are ready to begin, click the Start the Exam button. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 5
You will see a screen similar to the example below that reiterates some of the instructions. Important note: The time allotted for your assessment begins as soon as you reach this page, even before you click the Continue button. You will see the remaining time displayed at the bottom of the screen. Answering questions Click the Continue button to proceed to the first question. In most cases, each question will be presented separately on its own page, as shown below. To answer, click the button to the left of the correct answer, and click the Submit button. If you are not sure of your answer, you can click the box next to Mark for Review; then click Submit. The question will be marked so you can revisit it later. Note: Submit saves your answer, but does not submit it for scoring. You must end the exam in order to have your answers scored. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 6
Case questions In some assessments, some or all questions may direct you to review case material in order to answer the question. In those instances, you will see the words Case Link in the upper left corner of the white portion of the screen, above the question number. Those words are a link to the case material you need. Click that link; this will open a PDF file containing the case information. You may view the information on screen or print it out; then answer the question. Submit button The Submit button appears on every question page, below the Mark for review box. If you do not see the Submit button, it is because the question is long and you need to scroll down to the button. Use the scroll bar on left side of the screen to locate the button and click Submit. Tracking your progress As you answer questions in the exam, you will see the left side of the page tracking the questions you have answered by filling in the box in the Responded column. Any questions you have marked for review will be indicated by a yellow square in the Bookmarked column. Note: If you cannot see the Bookmarked column, drag the vertical divider between the left and right areas of the screen to the right. Exiting the assessment before completion If your assessment allows you to exit and reenter the assessment, you may exit the assessment at any time by simply closing the assessment window using the X in the top right corner of the screen. All answers you have submitted to that point will be saved, and the timer will stop. You may also exit by clicking the Summary and End Exam Page button, then following the instructions provided, but it is not necessary to do so to save your answers and stop the timer. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 7
Ending the assessment and scoring When you have answered all questions and are ready to submit your answers for scoring, click the Summary and End Exam Page button at the bottom of the screen. A confirmation page will appear, asking you whether you would like to save and hold your answers (not submit them for scoring) or end the exam (have your answers scored). To end the exam, click the End Exam button. In the pop-up window that is displayed, click OK to confirm that you are ready to have your questions scored. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 8
Viewing your results Your assessment results will appear immediately in a new Exam Results window. In this window you will see the number of questions you answered correctly, your score as a percentage of the total number of questions, and whether or not your score was a passing score. Note: The passing score is set by each organization, and may also vary from one assessment to another. When you close this window, your assessment will be moved to your Records. Click the Training Records tab and select Records/Transcripts. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 9
In Records/Transcripts, locate the assessment you just completed. You may need to scroll down the page to find it. Note that the status of the assessment may be either In Process or Completed, depending on whether you have taken the assessment the maximum number of times. Click the name of the assessment, and a learning history for this assessment will appear. Viewing your incorrect questions To access your detailed results, click either the link below the Progress section or the name of the exam in the Exam Results section. The Exam Review page shows the text of each question answered incorrectly. To see more information, click the Review Exam Responses button. A new window will open, showing the question numbers you answered incorrectly. Click each question number to see the question and the incorrect answer option you selected. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 10
3. Program Navigation Opening a module To open a module from the Enrolled Learning Modules tab: 1. Click the program name. 2. Click the module name. 3. Click the Online Content module (the item with the blue ball ) in the expanded gray menu. A new window opens and populates with that elearning module. This may take a minute or two because each module begins with a Module Introduction that includes an audiovisual presentation. When the page has loaded completely, it will look similar to this example, with a Play button: Play Click the Play button to begin your study of the module. Each time you see a Play button on a screen in the module, be sure to click it to see and hear important information or demonstrations. Next and Back At the end of the presentation, you will be instructed to click the Next button: the right- facing arrow found in the lower right corner of the screen. As you complete each subsequent screen, click the Next button to move forward, or the Back button to return to a previous screen. We suggest that you complete each screen in sequence. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 11
Module objectives The module objectives indicate the skills and knowledge you will be expected to master by studying this module. Both the Progress Check questions at the end of the module and the module s Posttest are based on these objectives. Read them, then click the Next button to continue. The left menu Notice that the left menu, the list to the left of the vertical divider, has expanded and now shows the numbers and titles of each screen in the first lesson. You can expand the left menu to see the screens in other lessons by clicking on the lesson title; click again on the lesson title to collapse the display. You can move through the module linearly using the Next button or you can use the left menu to locate the page you would like to view next, and click the name of the page to open it. If you land on a Check Your Understanding screen, you may not proceed until you answer the question and click the Submit button on that page. To hide the left menu, click the vertical bar. To view the left menu, click the vertical bar again. The left menu also tracks your progress through the course. An empty circle indicates a page you have not yet opened; a half-filled circle indicates a page you have not yet completed; and a filled circle indicates a completed page. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 12
Exiting the module To exit the module, click the X at the upper right corner of the browser window. The location from which you closed the module will be saved, and you will be returned to the Enrolled Learning Modules menu. Reentering the module The left menu of the module tracks the screens you have already viewed. You will reenter the module at the same location from which you exited; from there, you may continue linearly using the Next button, or select any other screen in the left menu. Toggle buttons The program platform includes many features and resources that can be accessed by using the round toggle buttons at the top of the screen. To start or open the feature, click the button; to close it, click the button again. Your Learning and Development Manager will provide additional information about how these resources can be used during the course and on the job. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 13
Button Feature Description Resources Glossary Script -amentor Help Bookmark Opens a drop-down menu of resources you can use during the course and on the job. The resources change for each module, and may include one or more of the following: Job aids (including module scripts for the audio narration) Bookshelf articles Cases Worksheets Most of the resources are PDF documents that can be printed or saved to your computer for later reference. A worksheet is usually provided as both a PDF and as an Excel worksheet; to use the Excel worksheet, you must first save it to your computer, then open it from there. A glossary of banking and accounting terms used in the course. This button is inactive; the scripts for all audio in each module are included in the Resources, and may be saved or printed as needed. If you have any questions about the content of the module, this button will open an to an Omega mentor, who will respond to your question within one business day. Provides navigation help and an explanation of the feature buttons. This button allows you to create your personal list of pages of interest, so you can return directly to those pages from the bookmark menu. You may add and delete bookmarks at will. Hints and tips Omega s elearning programs are designed to be engaging, but you will still be doing a significant amount of studying to master the material. Be sure to pace yourself rather than try to finish an entire module in one sitting. To get the most out of the program, follow the instructions on each page. Watch for the appearance of a scroll bar at the right side of the screen. Some screens contain more information than will fit within the space of a single window. The scroll bar is your signal to scroll down on the page to access additional information. Watch for instructions to click an icon, image, or other item on the page to learn more. This is where much of your learning will take place, so be sure to click to see that information. Watch for and follow instructions to click the Resources button to access an item such as a job aid, worksheet, or case study. All of the items contained in the Resources can be saved to your computer or printed for future access; in some cases, you may not be able to complete an exercise unless you have reviewed or printed one of the resources. Be patient. Pages that contain audio and animations take longer to load than other pages. You will usually see a Loading image circling in the center of the page. Loading time can also be affected by the speed of your Internet connection, or the amount of traffic on that connection. If a page does not load within two minutes, jot down the page number and skip to the next page; return later when there is less Internet traffic. When you see a Play button, click it to see and hear a presentation, demonstration, or animation. Omega elearning Helpful Hints and Basic Navigation 14
Caution: It can be tempting to click on anything clickable on the screen and go on to the next page, without really reading and absorbing what is on the page. If you find yourself clicking mechanically, you may need to take a break. When you return to the module, go back a few pages and review before you go on. We hope you enjoy Omega s elearning courses as much as we enjoyed building them for you, and wish you success in your studies and your career. Good luck in your studies!
