2 Workspaces Pages and Apps User Experience and User Assistance Refinements to Page Design We refined Page Design to enhance usability. Additional Page Layouts We added page layouts that allow you to have headers and footers on the pages. Here are the page layouts you have available now. 3 Four Apps No Longer Beta We removed four apps from Beta status and updated the social media elements for each of them if you have Social Media Framework. Here are the four apps. Discussion app Q & A App (formerly Idea Board App) Alumni Directory App Book List App Post Events to Parent In addition to using Collections to request posting to other calendars, editors can request that an event be posted to a parent calendar. A parent calendar is either the site or subsite in which a section or channel displays or the district (site) calendar for any school (subsite) calendars. The parent calendar displays on the Post to tab once you select Post Event to other calendars. Ability to Toggle between Active and Inactive Status for Records in Apps We provided a toggle between active and inactive status for records in all apps. We also flag expired records. Social Media Framework We changed the default to require approval when you enable commenting on an app. Protect Files in File Library App From this point forward, e limited the ability to link to a protected file in a File Library to the authorized users (i.e., those who have viewing rights to that file). In other words, only people with Viewing Rights to that file can access it using the URL. 4 Simple Wiki App We added the Schoolwires Simple Wiki App, which you can use to allow registered users to collaboratively add, modify and delete content on the end-user website. Any visitor may view the content of the Simple Wiki. However, only users who sign in may edit the content of the Simple Wiki. Schoolwires Editor Customize Borders You are able customize borders for a table easily using Rules on the Table Options tab of Table Properties. Page 4 of 11

5 Schoolwires Editor Best Practices Guide Knowing how much you use the Editor every day, we provided you with a Schoolwires Editor Best Practices Guide. You can access this guide from the How Do I tab or by clicking on the Editor Best Practices Schoolwires-Furtal App icon within any Flex App. A furtal is a web app, specifically designed and built by Furtal Media LLC (Furtal) to meet the growing demands for an online fundraising platform. It also provides you with another way to showcase your school. Schoolwires has integrated furtal into Centricity2 in order to provide you with an easily accessible, effective, long term fundraising tool. An actively managed school furtal will generate a substantial and continuous revenue stream for the school. E-Alerts Broadcast E-Alerts We added a character count to mobile Broadcast E-alerts. As you enter a mobile e-alert, the number of characters you have remaining displays. Content E-Alerts When a Content E-Alert is created, the name and address for the person who is signed in and creating the E-Alert will be auto-filled by default. If desired, you can change this information before you send the E-Alert. Page 5 of 11

6 Image Optimization Images that are uploaded using a wizard are optimized. Here are the places that images will be optimized. Accent Images for Headlines & Features and Article Library App (150 pixels wide) Imagery for Site Shortcuts App Thumbnails in Photo Gallery Insert Image in the Schoolwires Editor Additional UX and UA Refinements We refined the UX and UA in various places. Here are a few of them. System Settings displays in tabs. Site Setting in Site Workspace and Configure are consistent. UA on apps is consistent. Refined UA in Collections. 7 Mobile Available for an additional charge, Centricity2 Mobile allows you to provide users with mobile versions of the apps on the homepages and upcoming events for your district and school sites. Specifically designed for mobile browsing, these apps load faster and are more mobile-friendly than your full website. Once enabled by Schoolwires, Centricity2 Mobile currently supports these four existing apps. Flex Editor App Headlines & Features App Announcements App App (Upcoming Events and ical feed) Check the technical requirements for a list of the supported mobile devices. At this point, mobile devices such as tablets will continue to render the full site. Centricity2 Mobile does not allow you to use Site Manager from a mobile device. Site Directors must enable Mobile browsing in System Settings. They can enable mobile for their district sites and all their subsites. In addition, they can display the site list on their mobile sites, change the mobile themes for each of the sites or use the district mobile theme on all the subsites. Page 7 of 11

8 Styler You will see the functional name of each window in the title bar in Styler and on the end-user website. End-User Website You can subscribe to a calendar by linking to a hosted ICS (ical format) file. When you click on the ical button on the end-user website on your desktop or mobile site, instructions for how to subscribe display. Page 8 of 11
