4 Pre-Installation and System Requirements Pre-Installation and System Requirements Please check the following items prior to installing Enterprise Console (Server) v10.3. Licensing Ensure that you have a license code for the Enterprise Console software. This licenses one copy of Enterprise Console and Enterprise Server Manager on one PC. Further Enterprise Console clients can be installed without the need for additional license codes. To obtain a trial 30 day license key for the above components please halcyon.sales.admin@helpsystems.com or contact your local Halcyon Software distributor. See for details. SQL Requirements and supported versions This version of Enterprise Console requires SQL in order to receive alerts and to store the user details defined within Enterprise Server Options. Due to the way in which alerts converse with the Enterprise Console, the software is not restricted by database limitation and therefore the following SQL versions are supported: SQL Express bit/64bit - recommended SQL Express bit/64bit SQL Server bit/64bit SQL Server bit/64bit SQL Server bit/64bit SQL Server bit/64bit SQL Server bit/64bit For links to the express versions of SQL and instructions on how to download, install and configure SQL for Enterprise Console, please refer to the manual; Installing SQL Server Express Editions. This manual can also be used as the reference for the configuration requirements when using a full version of SQL Server. Minimum Hardware and Software Requirements Enterprise Server Install: Minimum 60GB available disk space, 2GB RAM (4GB recommended), Minimum 1.4 GHz Processor Speed (2.0 GHz or faster recommended) TCP port opened bi-directionally for all systems that will communicate to the Enterprise Console Microsoft XML (MSXML) 4.0 Service Pack 3 or above Enterprise Client Install: minimum 1GB available disk space Static IP Address for device on which Enterprise Console Server is installed Prerequisite SQL Server Software Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 or higher recommended 2008: -

5 Pre-Installation and System Requirements If SQL Server is installed on a device other than the one on which Enterprise Console is installed (recommended), you will also require: Microsoft SQL Server Native Client (version 9.0 or later) Note: Manual installation of SQL Server 2008 Express R2 and SQL Server Native Client is required prior to the installation of Halcyon Enterprise Server. Microsoft SQL Server Compact 4.0 ENU (installed as part of the setup process if it does not already exist) Enterprise Server Operating System Requires higher hardware specification than listed previously. Please see the manufacturer s website for further information. Production environment Windows Server 2008 Standard* Windows Server 2008 Enterprise* Windows Server 2008 Datacenter* Windows Server 2012 Standard* Windows Server 2012 R2* Windows Server 2012 Essentials* Enterprise Client Operating System Windows Vista SP2 or above Windows 7 SP1 or above Windows 8 Windows 10 For production mode, it is recommended that Enterprise Console is installed on Windows Server 2003 SP2 or above which can be either a physical or virtual machine. For testing purposes the product will install to Vista or Windows 7 with User Account Control (UAC) disabled. Microsoft.NET Framework (v4.6 or higher) In order to run Enterprise Console (Server) v10.3 Microsoft.NET Framework v4.6 or higher must be installed on the server onto which the installation is being implemented.this can be downloaded from: Note: Following a fresh install of,net Framework 4.6 you will need to reboot the machine onto which it was installed. This is a Microsoft requirement. GSM data terminal A SIM card is required for the GSM data terminal. Please order the GSM data terminal from Halcyon Software and contact your external suppliers for a suitable SIM card

6 Configuring SQL, Installing Enterprise Console and Licensing Configuring SQL, Installing Enterprise Console and Licensing Follow these instructions to: Configure SQL on the SQL server in order to use with Enterprise Console Perform a typical quick-start installation by installing all Enterprise Console components onto one machine License the software Configuring SQL on SQL Server for use with Enterprise Console Unlike previous versions of Enterprise Console, v10.3 does not come a supplied instance of SQL. You must specify your own instance and configure it ready for Enterprise Console to use. This is required prior to the installation process. See Prerequisite SQL Server Software for details. 1. On the server running your instance of SQL Server, create a new logon of halcyon and grant sysadmin server role to enable the creation of tables by Halcyon. Do not use a semi-colon ; character in the SQL password. (The sysadmin server role can be removed once the HEC, HIA and HDM tables have been created). 2. Open the instance of SQL and ensure that within the Server Properties Security Settings, Server authentication is set to SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode (as per the screen shot below)

Check IBM i Device is named correctly in the Device Manager (it must be the same as the actual IBM i system name) and that it has the correct IP Address assigned. Ensure that all IBM i devices IP addresses are added in Device Manager Are there any Firewall restrictions between the IBM i and the PC? Port (+1 for each additional environment on the same partition to which you want to connect) from the Enterprise Console to the IBM i must be open. Is the Windows XP Firewall activated? If so, either turn it off or add the Port exceptions as above. Ensure the Default Filter is not held. (Check this in Start Programs Halcyon Applications Enterprise Console Server Options Filters). Ensure that the IBM i connections are defined correctly. (Check this in Start Programs Halcyon Applications Enterprise Console Server Options General). Port (+1 for each additional environment) must be enabled. Note: When the issue has been resolved, remember to Delete the Test Rule. See Deleting the test rule. Power/System i: Check that Configuration - Work with Remote Locations has an entry for the Enterprise Console device, ensuring that the Enterprise Console Device IP Address, Port (15000), Name and Description details are all present and correct. Ensure that the Halcyon monitors are started. Re-test. If there is still no alert then: 1. Turn on the logging in Enterprise Console Server Options (Start Programs Halcyon Applications Enterprise Console Server Options General) and add Log Informational Messages, Log User Commands, Log Diagnostic Messages and Log Incoming Alert Data. 2. Send another test alert into the Enterprise Console. 3. the HEC.log file (from %Program Files%\Halcyon\Enterprise Console\Server.log to technicalservices@halcyonsoftware.com. Note: When the issue has been resolved, remember to Delete the Test Rule. See Deleting the test rule
