3 Introduction to ProjectNotify ProjectNotify is a completely free application that allows you to keep your catalog and symbol data from ProjectMatrix Manufacturers up to date automatically! We offer multiple modes to set up ProjectNotify but a majority of our customers are able to utilize ProjectNotify through either the STANDARD mode or the CLIENT / SERVER MODE 3

4 ProjectNotify Modes ProjectNotify offers five different program modes for users to choose from. We overwhelmingly recommend if you have more than 5 users of ProjectMatrix to set up ProjectNotify in Client / Server Mode. IT Staff responsible for setting up SERVER mode of ProjectNotfy can contact ProjectMatrix tech support for direct remote assistance help in installing ProjectNotify on the server! Please refer to the last page of this document - CONTACT US This mode will enable you to set up a single Server Machine as the SERVER computer for ProjectNotify and the rest of the users as CLIENTS. ProjectNotify in Server Mode will reach out to our Amazon Web Server in order to download the.msi catalog and symbol update files and then place them onto your mapped network location. ProjectNotify in Client Mode will then reach out to the same mapped network location in order to retrieve the updates and install them locally onto that clients machine. 4

5 Before You Begin You will need to create a user name and password to access downloads at Click the Register button on the top left of the webpage, or click the Downloads tab in the website to get to the Login/Register screen as shown below. Once you log into the website, navigate to the Software Downloads page. Find the section for ProjectNotify at the top of the page 5

6 ProjectNotify Installation Installing ProjectNotify The ProjectNotify download will be located under the Downloads->Software page. Click the Download Now button to begin the download. Feel free to download the accompanying PDF information if you would like additional information. Once you click Download Now, either Click Run in order to immediately run the ProjectNotify install, or click Save in order to Save the ProjectNotify install to a specified location to run at a later time. Once you begin the installation, it is recommended to keep all of the default settings. Just press the Next button through the installation Wizard. During one screen you will be asked to agree to the ProjectMatrix license agreement. Once the installation is complete, start ProjectNotify by going to your Windows Start Menu and finding it listed under the ProjectMatrix folder. 6

7 ProjectNotify Installation Setup Wizard for ProjectNotify Click to Start the Wizard Choose YES and then re-enter your username and password you created to download the software from the website. If you have been instructed to set up ProjectNotify in Standard mode go page 8. If you have been instructed to set up ProjectNotify in Client Mode skip to page 9 7

8 ProjectNotify Installation Setup Wizard for ProjectNotify Standard Mode Click Standard User Mode and then click Next If you have been given instructions from your IT staff to Set up Client Mode please Skip to the next Page Click next and Click Add we recommend adding a notification. For more details about adding a Notification refer to page 10. This will check our website based on your set schedule to ensure you are running the latest catalogs available to us. When you re done click Next. 8

9 ProjectNotify Installation Setup Wizard for ProjectNotify Client Mode Click Client Mode and then click Next Click next and Click Add - We recommend adding a Notification. For more details about adding a Notification refer to page 10. This will check our website based on your set schedule to ensure you are running the latest catalogs available to us. When you are done, click Next On this page take the mapped network drive* location that was provided to you by your IT staff and browse to it. Once you are done, click Next. *If you are having issues finding your Mapped Network Drive locations it may be due to an issue with UAC not being able to access Mapped Network Drives. More details and a solution are available HERE 9

10 ProjectNotify Installation Setup Wizard for ProjectNotify Make sure to choose a time that your computer will be logged in and on. We recommend Daily. If your computer misses a scheduled time, then it will just check the following day. Keep in mind ProjectNotify is REQUIRED to be installed by the same user that will be using the product. Once you finish the wizard, you will see the program running down in the lower right corner of you computer near the Time/Date. Double click to open the program to install the catalogs. 10 7

11 ProjectNotify Installation Scroll down through the list of manufacturers to select the one(s) you would like to install. When selecting a manufacturer to install, selecting just the SYMBOLS for a manufacturer will download a combined SYMBOLS (2D and 3D graphics) and CATALOGS (pricing) installation. 11

12 CET Users Permissions CET users may need to take extra steps. Typically ProjectSymbols for CET will create the C:/ProgramData/ProjectMatrix directory without issue, check to see if you need to edit the permissions of the folder (Right click- Properties Security Tab) and Set the USERS level to FULL CONTROL so that the users may modify existing files. Additionally our software should automatically create 2.INI files in this folder (C:/ProgramData/ProjectMatrix) called PSSYMBOLSPOINTER.ini and PSINSTALLEDPOINTER.ini. If these files are not present download them from this link 12

13 ProjectSymbols for CET Installation In order to install ProjectSymbols for CET you want to make sure the license manager for your account has Gifted you a license for ProjectSymbols for CET. 14 ProjectSymbols for CET Installation After verifying that you have a license for ProjectSymbols for CET, download and start CET if you have not already and click Help Check for Updates in order to start the Extension Download process which should download all extensions you have licenses for and install them automatically including ProjectSymbols for CET. 14

15 ProjectSymbols for CET Installation Once you have installed ProjectSymbols for CET you want to click on the ProjectSymbols for CET tab button inside of CET to activate it! After clicking on the ProjectSymbols for CET Tab button, click on the CHANGE MFG button to open the Catalog Manager which will allow you select which manufacturers you wish to activate and use inside of ProjectSymbols for CET 15
