1 PRODUCT MARKETING BULLETIN Agricultural Equipment Europe Harvester Marketing Date: 5 January 2011 Reference NH/MB/H&T/ Subject: PFS Desktop software S'2011 The purpose of this document is to explain HOW the NH-staff, NH-dealers salesmen and NH- Customers can install, maintain and upgrade the PFS desktop software. Every customer that uses the PFS-desktop software should be informed about the content of this document. The following diagram shows an overview of the "good practice" actions: 1 Personal Registration on the PLM-portal ( (see detail 1) This should always be performed first! All NH dealers should be registered (a higher access authority will be given to them by the PLM leader) All customers should register both themselves and their machine park. 2 Purchase PFS Basic: Via Whole goods (combined with Support Package) Via PLM Portal (See E Business tab: NH: PFS DESKTOP SOFTWARE: ) (See detail 2) Via Spare Parts (P/N: , not combined with Support Package) A customer should only need to purchase the PFS Basic Software ONCE IN A LIFTIME!!! 3 PFS-Basic registration on the PLM-portal: Simply fill the 32 character long activation code into the PLM portal Tab "PFS KEY" (See detail 3) Several seconds later you the customer receives a PFS user ID and a PFS Password, these should be entered into the actual desktop software (see detail 4) This only needs to be done ONCE IN A LIFETIME!!!! 4 Upgrading the PFS-Basic: It is strongly recommended that whenever a new version is available on the PLM portal, ALL customers immediately download and install it. Upgrading is free for the first 12 months after initial registration. If a customer wants to Upgrade the Software 12 months after initial registration, then he needs to pay a Maintenance fee of 80 via the PLM Portal. A maintenance fee of 80 allows free Upgrades during a period of 12 months. It is recommended that a customer pays this maintenance fee every year! If a customer has not paid the maintenance fee for several years, and then suddenly he wants to Upgrade to the latest version, then the PLM portal will automatically calculate how many times the 80 fee needs to be paid.(see detail 5) This customer also needs to install all of the missed PFS Desktop software versions (See detail 6) 5 Upgrading from PFS-Basic to PFS-Advanced:(only for advanced customers) Only a customer who owns the latest regular PFS Basic version can upgrade to PFS Advanced Purchasing of PFS Advance can ONLY be done via the PLM portal : A unique payment of 770 is required. The process requires the PFS Basic to be uninstalled and the same version but as PFS Advanced to be installed. The maintenance fee for PFS Advanced is 250 per year also to be done via the PLM portal. 2 Detail 1: Registering on the PLM-portal is simple and easy: The "My Profile" form needs to be filled out and submitted. A Few seconds later a password is sent to the registered address. P: 2

7 Detail 6: Upgrading from an OLD version to the CURRENT version The correct upgrade sequence: PFS v9.5 v10 v10.5 Upgrading to the newest PFS-version may require several hours to complete depending on the amount of data saved within the management tree and the capabilities of the computer. Customers should contact the local Support Company if they encounter problems while upgrading to the latest PFS-version. The upgrade process will automatically convert the data they already have in the system to the data structure of the new version. Saved backups from a previous version can also be restored without compatibility issues and will be migrated after they are restored. If customers are still running a very old version then they must first install and migrate their data, one version at a time, in the right order, until they have reached the latest version. Customers should contact The PLM-Customer Support Companies if they have any questions or concerns about this process. Methodology: 1. Make sure that a Backup has been created: this can be done by going to Services and Backup in the PFS software. 2. Make sure that the Current Version has not expired, in the PLM portal ( sub-tab: PFS-Key: if not customers need to pay a maintenance fee. 3. Once the data is backed up, ALL of the missing versions should be downloaded from the PLM-portal, preferably each one into a dedicated folder. Next, UNZIP the file, then click on the file INSTALL.EXE 4. Start Installing the NEXT version (Next means if the old version is PFS7.51 then the next version is PFS8.50 Follow the installation instructions. 5. Once the install is complete, start the software. Customers will now be prompted by a message about the migration process. Depending on the computer and the amount of data within the management tree, this could take several minutes up to multiple hours. Click OK to start the migration. 6. Install the NEXT version (see fig. above): repeat this action until the latest version is reached. P: 7

8 PFS-Desktop software Desktop software is commercialized via Wholegoods (linked to Mapping and IntelliSteer on Combines) and via Spare parts: Customers can also order the PFS-Basic Software via the PLM-Portal (See tab "My E- Business"). What do Customers need to know? (minimal knowledge) 1. Create a management tree Click on Tools, Management Item Editor, Create a Grower, a Farm, a Field, etc. 2. Export to display Click Device setup Add New Add the farm(s) that are needed on the Tractor or Combine Click on Export to Display Select New Holland, IntelliView II / III 3. Import from display Click "Read file(s)", "Start reading Field Display Files", "Start Automatic File Search" Brows to memory stick.
