3 CHAPTER 1 Product Description 3 CHAPTER 1. Product Description Digital Sign Service (DSS) for Android is an easy way to provide Android devices which can be placed in front of meeting rooms and similar areas, where meetings or similar activities are going to take place. With an Android tablet acting as a sign, user will be able to book an instant meeting, extend the current meeting, end the current meeting or confirm that a meeting is actually going to take place. The only assets you need are: Digital Sign Service for Android application A tablet running Android operating system DSS Server Side software with access to Exchange Calendars An Exchange Resource Calendar dedicated for the Interactive Door Sign From a technical viewpoint the DSS for Android application is dependent on the DSS server side product. It can only work when it is connected to the server application. This guide assumes that the reader is familiar with the DSS server side product.

Install and uninstall System Requirement Free Space 3 MB Android O/S How to install DSS for Android On Server side To run this application, the server side (composed of basic DSS components) must be installed first. See Digital Sign Service 2.0 User Guide for more details about system requirements, required prerequisite software and specific installation steps. On Client side DSS for Android on client side should be installed after finishing server side installation with sufficient configurations and settings as described in the Digital Sign Service 2.0 User Guide. Application on tablet screen How to remove DSS for Android To uninstall DSS for Android, go to Settings Applications to open a list of operating applications: Figure 7. List of applications Click DSS4Android application and select Uninstall: Figure 8. Uninstall the application Click [OK] to finish uninstallation: Figure 9. Confirm uninstallation

Post installation setup Select default application for Home button When DSS for Android is working, it is important that the screen should be remained even when someone touch the [Home] button. You can do that with the following instruction. Usually, DSS for Android is not selected as default Home-Screen. Therefore, when you touch the DSS for Android icon, the following screen shows up: Figure 10. Home-Screen settings To set DSS for Android as default Home-Screen, touch [Go to Home-Screen Settings] button. This will direct you to the current application that is managing Home-Screen: Figure 11. 8 CHAPTER 3 Post installation setup 8 In the above figure, the device in use is Samsung SM-T531 and the application that sets defaults for Home button is TouchWiz home. In other devices, the application might be different (e.g. Trebuchet). Touch [Clear defaults]. In case nothing happens after you touch [Go to Home-Screen Settings] button, you have to find the application that sets defaults for Home button in your device and clear the setting so it is not the home screen default anymore. With the device in the example (Samsung SM-T531), after touching [Clear defaults] button and click [Back] icon, the following screen shows up: Figure 12. Android device screen Touch [OK, Got it!] button, the following dialog box appears: Figure 13. Select application Select DSS4Android and tap on [Always], the following dialog box shows up: Figure 14. Clear defaults Click [OK] and the initial screen of DSS for Android shows up. After that, even you touch [Home] button, the DSS for Android still remains. NOTE: You can only quit DSS for Android by touching [Exit] button on setup screen:

DSS for Android setup flash After installation, you have to configure the DSS for Android by clicking [Setup] button on the initial flash screen as shown in the above figure. This opens Setup screen view:

10 CHAPTER 3 Post installation setup 10 Figure 17. Setup screen In this screen view, you can make configuration for the operation of DSS for Android. DSS for Android can also work in Digital Sign mode when a Digital Sign account is selected on server, for which user cannot book/end/extend/confirm meeting. You can upload logo to be displayed on the DSS for Android interface Check if you want the application to write event logs. You can see logging data immediately by clicking [View...] button Enter timeout duration for the application Duration (minutes) for user to confirm meeting. See Confirm Meeting section for more details Select time interval for updating data Select preferred language to be used in the application After making necessary configuration on this screen, click [OK]. The DSS for Android interface appears with all the configured information. NOTE: You can always reopen the Setup screen by clicking the logo.

How to use DSS for Android Note: There might be a situation when you tap anywhere on the screen and the Password window appears as in the following figure: Figure 18. Enter Password panel This happens because a password is set in Digital Sign Manager (refer to Calendar / Properties section in Digital Sign Service 2.0 User Guide for more details). Enter the password to continue other actions. Book an instant meeting You can book a new meeting if the text Please tap the screen to book instant meeting appears on the screen and the lock icon is green: Figure 19. 12 CHAPTER 4 How to use DSS for Android 12 Tap the screen to start booking a new meeting. The following view will appear at the bottom left of the screen: Figure 20. Book instant meeting panel In the first field, the default subject will be displayed. This default subject has been defined in DS Manager. In the sample, the default subject is [Press Conference]. The more default subjects have been added in DS Manager, the more options you have to select for your meeting subject. If you want to change the default subject, see How to change Default Subject section in Digital Sign Service 2.0 User Guide. The second field shows end time of the meeting you want to book. Click time digits to change ending time. Click [OK] to complete booking new meeting. Details about meeting that user has just booked will be displayed on the screen view. The lock automatically turns to red. Confirm meeting After clicking [OK] to complete booking new meeting or the start time of a meeting booked from Microsoft Outlook is approaching, you can see a panel at the bottom of the tablet screen as below: Figure 21. Confirm meeting The [Confirm Meeting] button appears on the screen view so that users can confirm the meeting they have just booked. This button is only available on the screen view in a configurable time interval. Look at the following figure for more details:

13 CHAPTER 4 How to use DSS for Android 13 Figure 22. Time interval to confirm meeting Booked meeting starts at 2 (when the status bar simultaneously turns red) and ends at 4 on the timeline. The time slice in which Confirm Meeting button is available ranges from 1 to 3. If the booking is not confirmed then the meeting room must be released and made available for other bookings. After time point 3, the Confirm Meeting button disappears. If the [Confirm Meeting] button has not been clicked AND time has passed 3 then the meeting is ended by the application, and the initial screen view appears. If the [Confirm Meeting] button is clicked, details about meeting that user has just booked will be displayed on the screen view as the figure below: Figure 23. DSS for Android booked meeting

14 CHAPTER 4 How to use DSS for Android 14 NOTE: User can set up confirmation time by modifying value of Confirm time in Setup screen. Extend current meeting Tap the screen to open Current meeting panel. The following view will appear: Figure 24. Current meeting panel Click the [Extend] button. Another panel shows up: Figure 25. Extend meeting panel Similar to booking a new meeting, you can click time digits to change end time of the meeting. Click [OK] to confirm and complete extending the current meeting. End current meeting To end the current meeting, click [End] button on the Current meeting panel. The screen view will show the End current meeting panel for you to confirm:

15 CHAPTER 4 How to use DSS for Android 15 Figure 26. DSS for Android End current meeting Click [Cancel] if you want to go back to the screen view or click [Yes] to end the current meeting. You will be brought back to the initial screen view of the user interface.
