The MCL-Collection is a robust set of integrated software tools to quickly develop data collection applications. Whether you're an expert programmer or a novice, the MCL-Collection can help you create and deploy single or multiple data collection applications rapidly, supporting both BATCH and ON-LINE communications. MCL-Collection for Datalogic is similar to MCL-Designer for other manufacturer, such as Symbol Technologies, HHP or Intermec. Thanks to this compatibility, you can add Datalogic terminals to existing installations made with another products. 1. MCL-Collections Suite overview MCL-Designer is a rapid application development tool, enabling you to quickly design a program for Datalogic terminals.

Many customers use the demo mode to begin program development, testing proof of concept and simulating an application, all on their PC's. MCL-Designer is for programmers and non-programmers alike.

2 1. MCL-Collections Suite overview MCL-Designer is a rapid application development tool, enabling you to quickly design a program for Datalogic terminals. MCL-Designer can be downloaded and installed prior to purchasing the software; it will simply run in demo mode until it is Activated. Many customers use the demo mode to begin program development, testing proof of concept and simulating an application, all on their PC's. MCL-Designer is for programmers and non-programmers alike. Its Windows interface makes it easy to click, drag and drop design elements such as text, graphics, bar codes, text and database interfaces (ODBC). MCL-Designer operates on Windows 95/98/2000/NT/XP and ME platforms. Here below you can find some of the most interesting benefits of the Designer. MC-MKT of 7

3 Graphical user interface makes it easy to develop complex batch and RF data capture applications. Application simulator allows you to test drive your application on the development system before downloading it into the terminal. Project verification ensures coherency between programs, files and setup. Process commands cut development time of complex programs. A process command allows an application to perform a predefined process based upon a date, a file, a branch, or other variables. ODBC interface makes database updates easier, and is available for wired and wireless, batch and real-time transaction processing. Report generator ensures that your functional specifications will always be current to reflect your application design. Barcode input allows you to easily manage automatic input of linear and 2-D symbologies, such as PDF 417 type. MCL Communication Software for Datalogic Provides superior exchange of programs, files and/or data records between the host system and Datalogic Devices. Operates on Windows 98/NT/2000/XP platforms. MCL-Net is a communication program for wireless exchange of files and/or data records between the host system and Datalogic Devices using various communication methods like: Internet, Ethernet, GSM, GPRS. Running on a Windows 98/NT/2000/XP system. MCL-Net is licensed in quantities of 5, 25, 50, 100, or 250 Users, which controls the number of devices that can simultaneously access MCL-Net. MCL- Net also offers advanced features like Remote Project Update and Load Balancing for scan/data intensive applications. Real-time communication means that transactions can be posted to a database in realtime. Batched transactions can be received wirelessly if a user has roamed out of range. Traffic monitor allows you to view all network activity on screen, or in a written file. Administration capabilities allow you to upload or download data packets, files or programs; manage files on the server from a remote location; and interface to host applications and host databases. 4 MCL-Link is a communication program for wired exchange of files and/or data records between the host system and Datalogic Devices. Running on Windows 98/NT/2000/XP system. MCL-Link is used for sequential communication with one Datalogic Device at a time (Point to Point). RS232 and Modem are Communications methods supported by MCL-Link. Batch communications ensures access to and delivery of your programs and data via serial connection or modem. Scripting capabilities allow you to easily develop scripts that can be automatically executed with no manual intervention required on either the device or the server to perform all batch communications, software revision updates and time synchronization. ODBC support provides an interface for accessing a database, and makes queries and updates easy in both batch and real-time communications. MCL Bridges for Datalogic MCL has several standard bridges offering advanced data mapping between your host applications and the Datalogic terminals with the easiness of mouse-clicking. The MCL-ODBC Bridge for Datalogic provides an interface for accessing a database without having to know the proprietary interface. The standard features include Insert New Records, Select Records, Update Records, Deletes Records, Import, Export and Update Database from File. Through MCL-Designer for Datalogic, it is also possible to type any SQL statements to be executed by the MCL-ODBC Bridge allowing the developer to use advanced features like Stored Procedures, Commit and many more. The MCL-R/3 Bridge is MCL s generic SAP R/3 communications interface, based on SAP standard technologies RFC s, IDOCs or BAPI s, MCL interfaces with all SAP R/3 functional modules (IM, SD, WM, PP, PM, PS, HR) where these are defined as standard interfaces. MCL- R/3 Bridge is SAP certified. MCL-Client for Datalogic Executes applications created with MCL-Designer and resides on your Datalogic Device. The MCL-Client offers the ability to run the application and control the terminal. MC-MKT of 7

Licensing policy Licensing policy for MCL-Collection and MCL Designer The MCL-Collection and the MCL Designer for Datalogic JET can be downloaded from the DL web site free-of-charge, for evaluation or promotional purposes. While all the above components are not licensed they will work in Demo-mode allowing the user to fully test their capability; only the project downloading to the Datalogic terminal is not permitted until the license is purchased. Whenever you purchase a license of MCL-Collection suite or MCL Designer for Datalogic JET, a Certificate is sent through containing Login and password to perform the registration. Two types of licenses are available: 1. Software Key Serial Number based on your computers serial number, which is calculated electronically by the MCL software for use during Activation. 2. Hardware Key Serial Number a Hardware Key that installs on your computers parallel port, which provides a serial number to the MCL software for use during Activation. MC-MKT of 7

6 Three main differences between the Software and Hardware Key Activation processes: 1. The Hardware Key can be moved or transferred to another computer, via the Hardware Key. The Software Key method is NOT transferable to another computer. 2. The Hardware Key requires that it be installed on your computer prior to Activating your MCL software. 3. The Hardware Key must be purchased separately and in addition to your MCL software. The Hardware Key works in conjunction with the Electronic Product Activation process, prior to Activating your MCL software you will need: an MCL-License Certificate, which is sent via after you ve purchased the software and it contains your MCL License Number and Password; to have already downloaded and installed your MCL software on your computer or device (but not Activated). Note: your MCL software will run in demo mode until it is Activated. There are two modes of Activation, On-Line (automatically) or Off-Line (manually) outlined in the table below: ON-LINE (Automatically) OFF-LINE (Manually) This option is used if the computer the MCL software is installed on has access to the Internet. 1. You will need to have an active connection to the Internet. 2. You will use the License Number and Password from your MCL-License Certificate to Activate your MCL software. 3. The computer s serial number is automatically calculated based on its configuration. 4. The Activation Key code is then automatically provided, which completes the Activation process. This option is used if the computer the MCL software is being installed on does NOT have access to the Internet. 1. You will need to provide your License Number and Password, to a person connected to the Internet who then follows the standard Activation process. 2. The web site to complete this process is select the first options License Activation. This process does not require any special tools and the person connected to the Internet enters all the pertinent information on the web site managing the Activation licenses on behalf of the customer. 3. The person connected to the Internet will then provide you an Activation Key code, which completes the Activation process. MC-MKT of 7

7 Licensing policy for MCL-Client in all different licenses option The MCL-Client for Datalogic JET can be downloaded from the DL web site free-of-charge, for evaluation or promotional purposes. While MCL-Client is not licensed it will work in Demo-mode allowing the user to fully test its capability. Whenever you purchase a license of MCL-Collection suite or MCL Designer for Datalogic JET, a Certificate is sent through containing Login and password to perform the registration. In essence the activation process is a simple 4 step process 1. Obtain a serial number from your hand held device (Calculated by MCL Client software). 2. Obtain a license Number and Password form license certificate (Results from your order). 3. Enter these 3 string of data into website which result in an Activation code. 4. Enter this Activation code plus the license number into the Datalogic JET. MC-MKT of 7
