5 1.0 SPINDLE MONITOR 1. Load SPA_MON on laptop according to instructions with disc and hook up the DB25/DB9 cable. 2. Run SPA_MON by double clicking the icon. The Main Menu screen should display. 3. Press the space bar to start the Spindle Monitor. 4. The white information window in the bottom left may briefly show looking for drive before showing the message s above. At this point the software is running and the drive is communicating

6 5. A No Communication error usually means that you have a problem with the cable or laptop. 6. A bad drive may display Drive not connected without the No Communication error. 7. Select the Stop button to exit and return to the Main Menu

7 2.0 ONLINE PARAMETER SET 1. From the Main Menu use the mouse or arrow keys to select ONLINE PARAMETER SET. 2. Press the spacebar to select Yes. 3. The information window opens and the message SP001 SP384 receiving is displayed

8 4. The communication was completed is displayed after the parameters are received. 5. Press the spacebar to select OK. You are now ready to edit the parameters

9 6. To change a parameter, use the UP and DOWN buttons to select the parameter in question. Then using the mouse select the > in the main column for the parameter you want to change. The following menu will appear. 7. Type in the new parameter and select OK. 8. The software automatically moves to the next parameter. Simply enter the next parameter and select OK to continue. 9. To move to a different parameter you must first Cancel and then use the UP and DOWN buttons to select the new parameter. Then using the mouse select the > in the main column for the new parameter you want to change. 10. Some parameters require cycling power after changing. 11. Some parameters require setting another parameter before you can change them. Ex: 1) You must set SP247 to a 1 before you can change SP248. Ex: 2) You must set SP177 to a 1 before you can change SP178 and SP When you select the End button you will be prompted to Save parameters. This saves a file to your laptop and is highly recommended. 13. After saving you are returned to the main menu

10 3.0 OFFLINE PARAMETER SET 1. From the Main Menu select OFFLINE PARAMETER SET. 2. Press the spacebar to select Yes (note: if you select No all parameters will be zero). 3. After the loading is complete message, press the spacebar to select OK

11 4. You are now ready to edit the parameters. 5. After you have made any changes select the End button and Save parameters is displayed. 6. Save the parameters if you have made any changes

12 7. After you select Yes/No for save parameters the following screen is displayed. 8. Press the spacebar to load the parameters to the drive and return to Main Menu or select No to return to Main Menu without sending the parameters to the drive. 4.0 PARAMETER COMPARISON NOTE: Compares parameters from the drive to parameters from OFFLINE PARAMETER SET. If the drive is not connected you will get the No Communication error. 1. Load file to OFFLINE PARAMETER SET. 2.From the Main Menu select PARAMETER COMPARISON. Then select Start

13 3. The software compares the files and prints out any differences as errors. 4. Select OK to return to Main Menu
