3 Overview User Interface OVERVIEW VI ViewerPlus (currently Version 7.3.0) is a lightweight standalone application that allows the access, organization and playback of recorded video clips previously generated by VI MonitorPlus or any other third-party application with compatible video output format. USER INTERFACE ➀ Main Menu At the top of the window, includes 3 main options: File, View and Help. ➁ Layout Selector Toggles the number of simultaneous displayed videos up to a maximum of 9. ➂ Playlist Area ➃ Toggle Playlist ON/OFF ➄ Video Playback Area ➅ Toggle Info ON/OFF ➆ Playback controls ➇ Timeline ➈ Export Clip Left pane, customizable list of video files. Collapses/expands the Playlist area. Area where videos are displayed. Shows/hides the Information and Actions for the active video. Options to view videos (Play, Pause, Stop, Fast Forward, Rewind, etc.). Shows the actual timeline sequence for the video currently played. Exports a portion of the video currently played to another video file. 1
4 Layouts WORKSPACE LAYOUTS VI ViewerPlus can display up to 9 simultaneous clips. Click on any Layout button to change the number of concurrent videos on Playback area. SINGLE VIEW 2-VIEW 4-VIEW 8-VIEW 9-VIEW 2
5 Workspace Fullscreen mode (F11) Setting the Default Layout To set the default layout for VI ViewerPlus, select View on the Main Menu, Default Layout and then choose your preferred value. Exit VI ViewerPlus and open it again. The new default layout configuration will be displayed. FULLSCREEN MODE (F11) 1 To switch to Fullscreen mode, select View from the Main Menu, then select Fullscreen, or press the F11 key. 2 To return to Normal mode, click on the Resize icon at the top of the screen, as shown above. 3
6 Playlists Adding Files PLAYLISTS ADDING FILES Open (Ctrl-O) 1 From the Main Menu, click File, then select Open, or type Ctrl-O to open the File Explorer. 2 Select the files to be opened in the Playlist and click Open. 3 The new files will be shown in the Playlist, as well as its corresponding video in the playback area If a file is added using the Open option to a Playlist with existing files, the latter will be automatically cleared from it and only the new one(s) will be shown. To add new files to the Playlist without deleting the existing ones, use the Add Files option. 4
7 Playlists Adding Files Add Files 1 From the Main Menu, click File, then select Add Files to open the File Explorer. 2 Or, from the Playlist, right-click and select Add Files on the option menu to open the File Explorer. 3 Select the files to be added into the Playlist and click Open. 4 The added files will be shown in the Playlist, along with the existing ones. 5
8 Playlists Adding Files Dragging and Dropping files into Playlist 1 From File Explorer, select the files to be imported into the Playlist, and drag them into VI ViewerPlus Playlist. 2 The dragged files will be shown in the Playlist. 6
9 Playlists Reordering Files REORDERING FILES There are multiple options to modify the way files are displayed and organized in the Playlist: Repositioning Files in the Playlist 1 MOVING UP: Click on the file name to be moved and right-click to open the option menu. Select Move Up. 2 MOVING DOWN: Click on the file name to be moved and right-click to open the option menu. Select Move down. 3 DRAG AND DROP: Select the file to be repositioned, then drag and drop it to the desired position in the Playlist. Sorting Playlist and Swapping Columns 1 SORT BY FILE NAME: Click on the File name column title to sort the list by Name in ascending order. Click again to sort in descending order. 2 SORT BY CLIP DURATION: Click on the Duration column title to sort the list by Duration in ascending order. Click again to sort in descending order. 3 SWAP PLAYLIST COLUMNS: Click on the File Name column title and drag it with the cursor to the right, until the columns in the Playlist are swapped, then drop it. 7
10 Playlists Removing Files REMOVING FILES Remove Files 1 Click on the file name to be removed and right-click to open the option menu. Select Remove Files. 2 Or, select multiple files by pressing and holding the CTRL key and clicking on each file name, then right-click and select Remove Files. Pressing the DEL key after selecting the files will remove them permanently. Clear Playlist To remove all the files from the Playlist, right-click and select Clear playlist from the option menu. 8
11 Video Playback Playing a video VIDEO PLAYBACK VI ViewerPlus comes with a complete set of options to control the video playback, embedded in the Toolbar located at the bottom of the application. PLAYING A VIDEO TOOLBAR (Playback controls, Timeline and Export Clip button). On the Playlist (left pane), select the video to be played and double-click it. The video will start playing on the playback area, and its name in the Playlist will become yellow while it s active. PLAYBACK CONTROLS Play Pause Stop Rewind/Fast Forward Previous/Next Frame Previous/Next File Repeat Plays the video at normal speed (1x). Pauses the video and shows current video playback speed (1x is the default value). Stops the video. Moves back or forward the video up to 32 times its normal speed. The incremental values are: 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x and 32x, shown in the Pause button. The playback speed increases by pressing the RW or FF button consecutively. Skips the video back or forward to the next frame. Jumps to the previous or next available video in the Playlist. Activates or deactivates continuous play (loop) of the currently selected video. 9
12 Video Playback Play Playlist (F5) PLAY PLAYLIST (F5) To play automatically all the files in the Playlist, select File from the Main Menu, then Play Playlist, or press F5. THUMBNAILS (CTRL-T) The Thumbnails option activates a navigation ribbon within the Playback area, composed of individual frames from the current clip, enabling a more visual method to locate specific video sections. 1 To activate the Thumbnails, select View on the Main Menu, then Show Thumbnail, or press Ctrl- T. 2 The Navigation ribbon will appear below the selected video clip. To use the Thumbnails, simply click on them to view the desired portion on the Player or scroll left/right with the arrow indicators on each side of the Navigation ribbon. To turn the Thumbnails off, press Ctrl-T or select View and Show Thumbnail again from the Main Menu. Thumbnails CANNOT be activated when the Layout is set to more than 1 video. 10
13 Video Playback Timeline TIMELINE The Timeline provides playback data corresponding to the video clip timeframe. For example, if the clip was created from a session recorded between 12:00 pm and 12:10 pm, its Timeline will be positioned within that time interval, marked with a thick blue line for better visualization and control. Zooming in and out within the Timeline The Timeline comes with the ability to zooming in and out within its display area, for a more detailed time interval. The default time interval is hourly; however, by pointing the cursor within the Timeline bar area and rolling the mouse wheel up, it will drill down to 30, 10 and 5 minutes intervals. Default: Hourly intervals. Zoom in: 30-minutes intervals. Zoom in: 10-minutes intervals. Zoom in: 5-minutes intervals. To go back to less detailed intervals, roll the mouse wheel down until the desired level is reached. Browsing the Video within the Timeline The Timeline can be used to quickly find a specific section of the video, in addition to the Playback control buttons. 1 Middle position. 2 Drag right: go to Start. 3 Drag left: go to End. To browse through the video clip, position the mouse cursor on any area of the Timeline bar, then click and drag it to the left or the right as needed, and release it when the desired section is reached. 11
14 Video Playback Exporting Clips EXPORTING CLIPS The Export Clip option creates a portion of the video as an external file, specifying its start and end time. 1 Click on the Clip button to show the Export Video Clip option window. 2 The Timeline will show a yellow frame marking the portion of time to be exported. Export Clip options Start time; End time (HH-MM-SS) Export To (file format) Save To Folder Enter the desired Start time and End time for your exported clip. AVI video file, the standard industry format. EXE file, a self-contained executable file with optional Password for extra security. Physical location of the exported clip. Export Options Show Timestamp will embed the timestamp into the exported clip. Include Watermark creates an embedded watermark to prevent tampering. 12
15 Video Playback Toggle Playlist Off/On TOGGLE PLAYLIST OFF/ON Collapsing the Playlist will expand the Video Playback area.
