1 Purpose: To give instructions on installing MLS Connect to work with the RM Integris Management Information System. PLEASE DO NOT OPEN YOUR CSV FILE IN EXCEL! Overview: Thank you for purchasing the MLS Connect for RM Integris. This application will allow you to automatically update the borrowers within your MLS library system. The application allows you to select optional information that you would like to transfer such as addresses, photographs, ethnic origins etc. This application should be installed onto the library computer and can be accessed from Program Files -> Micro Librarian Systems. The application can also be run as a Scheduled Task as detailed later on in this document. You must ensure that the library computer on which this application is installed has at least Read Only access to the Integris DF1 datafile on the network. If you wish to transfer photographs you should also ensure that the Integris image folder has at least Read Only access and that Integris points to that image folder within General->Control-> Preferences->Paths. Technical note: In order to transfer student data into your library management system, Integris has to be told to allow access to its databases. 1. Start Integris and logon. 2. Click File -> Database Tools -> ODBC Access. 3. Click the [Enable] button to allow access Installation Guide: These steps should only be performed on the computer running your MLS Software. 1.0 Run the program RM Integris Student Transfer.msi which will be located on the MLS Connect CD 1.1 Accept all the default settings by clicking Next on each screen, and complete the installation. 2 1.2 During the installation you will have seen the below screen 1.3 There is currently a bug within RM Integris, which does not allow it to look at file paths with spaces between the words (such as in Micro Librarian Systems ) 1.4 Therefore, you will need to copy the MLS Connect folder from within the above destination folder onto the root of the C:\ drive (just double click on the C:\ drive and paste within there) 1.5 Delete the current MLS Connect shortcut on the desktop (right click and delete) 1.6 Navigate to the freshly copied MLS Connect folder on the C:\ drive (NOTT within Program Files) 1.7 Right click on the MLS Connect application file (.exe file extension) and select Send To / Desktop (create shortcut) 1.8 This is now the correct place you should be running MLS Connect from Page 2 of 8

3 Configuring the ODBC Driver: 2.0 Click the Windows Startt button and then select Settings/Control Panel. 2.1 Double click Administrative Tools then double click Data Sources (ODBC). 2.2 On the System DSN tab click Add. 2.3 Scroll down the list of drivers and select OMNIS ODBC Driver, then click Finish. 4 2.4 Alongside Data Source Name type INTEGRIS, then click the Select button and browse to the Integris data file (DF1) on your network. 2.5 Click OK twice to exit the ODBC configuration. Page 4 of 8

5 Configuring MLS Connect 3.0 Double click on the MLS Connect shortcut on the desktop. 3.1 Click Options Select your system and the information you would like to transfer to your library database Page 5 of 8

6 3.3 Click the Admin Options tab and then specify the location where the student data should be placed. 3.4 Click the Licence Key tab and enter the licence key. To obtain a licence key please contact MLS Support on +44 (0) Once you have selected your preferred settings click Save. Page 6 of 8

7 Running the borrower transfer manually 4.0 Double click on the MLS Connect shortcut on the desktop. 4.1 Click Update my students to begin the data transfer. This may take a few minutes depending on the amount of data to be transferred. Page 7 of 8

8 Running the borrower transfer using a schedule To run the transfer automatically you must perform the following steps. 5.0 Double click on the MLS Connect shortcut on the desktop. 5.1 Click Options. 5.2 Click the Admin Options tab and then Schedule Job. 5.3 Choose the time and days of the week that you would like the transfer to run and click Ok. 5.4 You can now close MLS Connect. The transfer will take place at the specified time. Page 8 of 8
