In the following entry example, information containing the string Nihon but not the string japan are displayed in a table as the search results. Entry example: Nihon -japan Phrase Searches Searches of information expressed using multiple conjoined keywords are called phrase searches. Phrases can be searched by surrounding multiple keywords with double quotation marks (" "). During phrase searches, spaces can be included between searched words, making the searching of English strings convenient. Only one phrase, however, can be specified in the search keyword. In the following entry example, information containing the string user guide is displayed in a table as the search results. Entry example: "user guide" 38 intra-mart WebPlatform/AppFramework

43 1.8 Using Full Text Search Combined Searches AND searches, OR searches, NOT searches, and phrase searches can be used in combination. The priority ranking for combined searches is described below. (1) NOT searches (2) OR searches (3) AND searches and phrase searches For example, if the following example is entered: Entry example: Japan America or Canada -UK These search conditions mean that the word Japan is included, and either America or Canada is included, but the word UK is excluded. NOT searches cannot be included in OR searches. Incorrect entry example: Nihon or -japan In this case, the higher priority NOT search is enabled, and so the search is the same as when Nihon -japan had been entered Search Options Click the [Search options] link in the full text search screen to display the [Search options] screen. This search method is convenient when searching using multiple search conditions simultaneously. Using the [Search options] screen, it is possible to specify the display conditions for the search results. To return to the original full text search screen, click the [Close search options] link. <Search options screen> Search conditions Includes all keywords Includes phrases Includes any keyword Do not include keywords Clear Information containing all designated keywords can be searched by entering a space between one or more keywords.
