4 System Requirements Introduc on Use this information as a guide to identify the hardware and software components needed to implement TSoftPlus. All requirements are for systems running TSoftPlus only. You will need to take into consideration any additional software that will be running in your environment, as this will increase the listed requirements. Server Hardware These minimum requirements are for TSo Plus only. Addi onal hardware may be needed if you are using addi onal applica ons. Mul core Intel/AMD processor 4 GB RAM or greater 7 GB hard disk space or greater 24X speed or greater CD-ROM Drive Server So ware One of the following server opera ng systems: Windows Server 2008 Windows Server 2008R2 Windows Server 2012 Note: No 32-bit opera ng systems are supported for server use. Microso SQL Server 2008/2012 or Microso SQL Server 2008 Express (supplied with the TSo Plus installa on files). If you have an exis ng instance of SQL Server, you will need to have TCP/IP enabled on the machine hos ng SQL Server. PowerShell might be required if addi onal database tools are installed with SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server Express Note: If you perform over 100 transac ons a year, we recommend you use a full version of SQL Server, not SQL Server Express, so all transac ons can be stored in their original form for seven years. 5 Internet Informa on Services (IIS) 6 or later. This program must be installed and func onal on the server before installing TSo Plus. Wolters Kluwer Financial Services cannot provide assistance with implemen ng IIS beyond the informa on contained in the TSo Plus Installa on Guide. Note: IIS6 compa bility tools need to be installed as a prerequisite on Windows 2008 or Windows 7. For more informa on, refer to the IIS6 sec on in the TSo Plus Installa on Guide. Microso.NET Framework Microso ASP.NET MVC3 Windows Iden ty Founda on Run me Transport Layer Security (TLS) Protocol 1.2 Implemented Client Hardware Additional hardware requirements to run TSoftPlus for the client are generally not needed. You should take into account all software that you anticipate using in selecting a suitable hardware platform. The hardware you select to support a particular operating system should be adequate for daily use of the TSoftPlus client. Client So ware All users within an institution must use the same version of Microsoft Office to successfully open and save documents using the Loan Authorization Wizard and Financial Analysis Spreadsheets. Required software, including the operating system, includes: Windows 7 Professional or Ul mate, 32- or 64-bit Windows 8.1, 32- or 64-bit Internet connec vity Microso.NET Framework Microso Word 2007, 2010, 2013 or 365 (as included with Office 365) Microso Excel 2007, 2010, 2013 or 365 (as included with Office 365) Microso Internet Explorer 11 or later or Google Chrome 19 or later Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or later Standalone For Standalone installations, TSoftPlus requires the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Therefore, due to simultaneous operation, a 64-bit operating system with a minimum of 4GB RAM is recommended Wolters Kluwer All Rights Reserved. 2

6 So ware as a Service (SaaS) Environment More detailed information on software and hardware requirements for using the SaaS version of TSoftPlus can be found in the latest TSoftPlus_System_Requirements_SaaS.pdf. Addi onal Notes Service Packs The most current service pack is required for all Microsoft applications. Backup/Restore Backups are the sole responsibility of your institution. Your backup software may require an additional module to allow backing up of database files. Unsupported Opera ng Systems or Installa ons The following opera ng systems or installa on environments are not supported or no longer supported by TSo Plus: Novell Netware - TSo Plus u lizes Microso IIS to create the screens and Microso SQL Server to manage the database and these cannot be installed to or run from a Novell NetWare file server. Microso Small Business Server Microso BackOffice Server Ac ve Directory Server (Domain Controllers) - TSo Plus should not be installed on a domain controller. Exchange Server - TSo Plus should not be installed on a Microso Exchange Server. 7 Configura on Requirements Confirm Installa on of Windows Iden ty Founda on Run me For both new and update installations for this release, you need to confirm that the Windows Identity Foundation (WIF) runtime has been installed on your server before installing or updating TSoftPlus. To determine if it is installed, open Control Panel, Programs and Features. Click the link on the left, View Installed Updates. Scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section to find the entry for WIF. If you do not have an entry for WIF you can download it from Microsoft for free at support.microsoft.com/kb/ Note that there are separate download packages for Windows Server 2003 and PowerShell 2.0 You will need to download and install PowerShell 2.0 before installing or updating TSoftPlus. 1. Navigate to the Microsoft download page for PowerShell 2.0: kb/ Scroll down the page to the section titled Windows Management Framework Core (WinRM 2.0 and Windows PowerShell 2.0).There are separate downloads based on operating systems. Choose the one most suitable for your system. 3. Click the link. You will be taken to the page with specific installation instructions for your operating system. 4. Download and install the package per instructions on the page. ASP.NET MVC 3 Tools Update In order for TSo Plus to func on properly, you must install the MVC3 Tools Update prior to installing TSo Plus. Note: You can determine if the MVC3 Tools Update is already installed by accessing Add/Remove Programs (or Programs in Windows 7) from Control Panel and looking for an entry for Microso ASP.NET MVC Browse to the Tools folder on the product CD Wolters Kluwer All Rights Reserved. 4

8 Note: The MVC3 Tools Update is also available from Microso 's web site at h p:// en-us/download/details.aspx?id= Double-click AspNetMVC3ToolsUpdateSetup.exe to begin the installation. 3. Accept the license agreement and click Install to install. 4. A link is available to the tool release notes is on the Finish page if you are interested. Otherwise click Finish. 9 Upda ng TSo Plus Important: Before upda ng your version of TSo Plus, ensure you have a current backup of all necessary databases. 1. Uninstall your existing version of TSoftPlus before updating to the latest release. Select TSoftPlus from the list of programs in Control Panel, Programs and Features and choose Uninstall. If you do not uninstall your previous version you will receive an error message when you begin the update installation. 2. Locate and double-click the executable file, TSoftPlusInstall-64bit.msi, from the product CD. The installation application is displayed. 3. 10 Note: During a new installa on, if the SQL Server is not hosted on the local machine, this must be changed to the name of the machine hos ng SQL Server. If you have an exis ng SQL instance, enter the server and instance name manually. Failing to provide the name of an exis ng instance causes an error to be displayed. During an Ini al or Update installa on, the SQL Server Host, Instance, Port, Integrated security se ngs and Username (if integrated security is selected) are retained and used for future upgrades. SQL Server Port: The default value is the standard port used for SQL Server installa ons. If you have modified the port for your instance, you must indicate that value in this field. Use Integrity Security: This feature is intended for use when TSo Plus and the SQL database reside on the same computer. Selected (default): Uses the Windows account of the logged in user to connect to SQL Server. Not Selected: Allows you to enter the creden als of a specific SQL user account when the SQL database is hosted on a remote machine. 4. 11 5. Click Install to begin the installation process. The Installing screen displays a progress indicator during the installation. During installation, various command boxes appear to and disappear automatically. When complete, the following screen is displayed Wolters Kluwer All Rights Reserved. 8

12 6. Click Finish to close the installation application. Note: When installa on is finished, you can access TSo Plus within the TSo Plus program group in the Windows Start menu. The URL used to access TSo Plus has changed. Customers with a previous installa on will need to u lize the new URL to access the applica on. TSo Plus can be accessed from the server it was installed on by going to Start --> Programs --> TSo Plus --> TSo Plus. The new URL is forma ed as follows: A log file is created during the installa on process that records all installa on ac vity. The filename is: msi*****.log. The asterisks represent characters that can change across installa ons (example; msic2eos.log). You can access this log file in the user's TEMP directory. you can locate the TEMP folder as follows: 1. Click the Windows Start bu on, and click on Run. 2.
