3 Introduction These release notes cover only the installation procedure and known issues for the National Language Support (NLS) packs of Facility Commander Wnx 7.6. Release notes for the FCWnx 7.6 system release were previously issued under part number NLS pack installation You MUST have installed all servers and workstations with FCWnx 7.6 Rev. F media before installing this language pack. To install FCWnx 7.6 National Language Support (NLS) packs on any non-english Windows operating system, follow the steps below. This procedure uses the example of installing a Russian NLS pack on a Windows 7 system. Adjust the procedure for your language pack. Follow similar procedures for Windows XP and Windows Server. 1. Install Windows Install the Russian language pack for Windows Click Start > Control Panel > Clock, Language, and Region. Select Region and Language. 4. Select Russian (Russia) in the Format drop down list. 5. In the Administrative tab of Region and Language, select Russian (Russia) for Current language for non-unicode programs settings. 6. Install FCWnx by following the procedure outlined in the FCWnx 7.6 Installation Manual. 7. Install the FCWnx Russian language pack as Administrator user. 8. Change the Display language to Russian for the Windows user who will be using the FCWnx application. 9. Launch FCWnx. Note: Only one (1) FCWnx NLS language pack can be installed on a machine. 4 Application notes 1. While Installing the FCWnx Language Pack on a non-english OS, an error is displayed stating Installation ended prematurely because of an error. Communication problems between the FCWnx server and client are also observed. (For example, when you open the Client Monitor on the FCWnx client, the server connection status is displayed as Not Connected even though the server and client are connected.) Workaround: Please contact UTC Fire & Security Technical Support to obtain FCWnx 7.6 Patch During installation of FCWnx language packs, a dialog message requests the username and password for the FCWnx database. However, in Windows 7 this dialog is hidden in the background and the main window appears to be frozen. Workaround: Press Alt+Tab to bring the dialog to the foreground. 3. Characters of few Asian languages are not displayed correctly on FCWnx reports. By default, the font selected in FCWnx reports is Times New Roman. Since this font does not support all languages, it has to be changed to a font suitable for the language. Workaround: Change the font from the Fonts tab of any FCWnx report. For East Asian languages the suggested font is Simsun. 4. When the FCWnx database is re-created after installing the FCWnx language pack, then the settings made by the language pack are lost and the user will not be able to license FCWnx. Workaround: If the FCWnx database is re-created after installing the FCWnx language pack, re-install the FCWnx language pack first, and then license FCWnx. If the User does not want to install the FCWnx language pack and reverts to the default English language, then the following Windows registry key has to be updated first and FCWnx has to be licensed. 4 FCWnx 7.6 National Language Support Release Notes

5 On a 32-bit machine: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GE\FCWnx\Configuration Update the value of OperatorLanguage to 9. On a 64-bit machine: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GE\FCWnx\ Configuration Update the value of OperatorLanguage to East Asian Languages: When the Graphic map editor is saved with the command group icon in the map and re-opened by import or by opening Graphic console window, the command group icon is missing and an error message displays. Workaround: Change the default description of the command group icon before saving the map. 6. Windows 7 Dutch OS: The Signature, Fingerprint, and Document options are not available on the Identity tab of the Personnel form even when licensed for Enhanced Imaging. Workaround: Install Imageware runtime from the FCWnx CD. For 32-bit: Imageware\Facility Commander Wnx 7.6 Imaging Runtime.msi For 64-bit: Imageware\Facility Commander Wnx 7.6 Imaging Runtime x64.msi During installation, a dialog displays the message Unable to register EPICapCrossMatchUSBIWS.dll with options to Abort, Retry, and Ignore. Click Ignore and complete the installation. After installation, open a Command Prompt window, copy and paste the following command in the command prompt window and press Enter. A dialog with DLL registration successful displays. regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\ImageWare Systems\EPIBUILDER\6\EPICapCrossMatchUSBIWS.dll" 7. EMEA languages: The message Unable to license client displays even though server is successfully licensed. Workaround: The Windows Built-In Administrator is different for many EMEA languages, for example, for French it is Administrateur. 6 Known issues 1. Chinese Simplified: The VMC tabs corresponding to the Chinese operator appear grayed out although they are active. 2. Arabic: The positioning of the GMC Map is inconsistent when downloaded on the Map Editor (default window size). 3. Incomplete text is displayed in the Graphics Preferences form under the Graphics option in the Application Group pane. 4. While entering the IP address of a controller in the Controller form, dots ( ) are missing in the space provided to enter the IP address. 5. Arabic: Context sensitive help is not launched using the "?" icon. 6. In the FCWnx Client, the Activity Monitor shows three (3) guard tour transactions for a one (1) DI (tour point) activity. 7. For English FCWnx operators, the following form titles are displayed in the native language: Facility, Client Group, CCTV Interface, Holiday Group, API Interface, Diagnostic Viewer. 8. Italian: The Activity Monitor shows the duress symbol for guard tour transactions when logged in as native language operator. 9.
