1 Ericom AccessToGo Gateway Mobile Client The Arthur Terry Remote Desktop Gateway can be used on supported Apple, Android, Kindle and BlackBerry devices. Please be aware: The Mobile Gateway provides a secure remote desktop connection to the school s ICT systems. All actions carried out through the remote connection are subject to monitoring and logging in line with the school s ICT policy. Users are to adhere to the school ICT agreement at all times when using this software. It is recommended that you only use this app when a WiFi connection is available. You may be charged for exceeding your mobile data allowance. By using this app on a mobile device you are taking full responsibility for your own data usage. The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership can accept no responsibility for any charges incurred as a result of using this software. Never save your password on a mobile device, doing so may put your data at risk. If your device is lost or stolen, contact ICT Services to have your password reset at the first available opportunity. 2 1) Download the app. The App can be found on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Amazon Kindle Appstore or BlackBerry AppWorld. Search for Ericom Install the free AccessToGo RDP/Remote Desktop app. AccessToGo on the Google Play Store AccessToGo on the Apple App Store* *Versions are available for both iphone/ipod Touch and the ipad. 3 2) Configure the App. Launch the AccessToGo App. Select New Connection in the lower left hand corner. Chose PowerTerm WebConnect (VDI / TS) from the list. Complete the connection with the following settings: Connection Name: Arthur Terry School Server: gateway.arthurterry.bham.sch.uk User Name: (yourusername) Password: (Leave blank) Desktop Size: Automatic Settings on ios Settings on Android Tap OK when finished entering the required settings. 4 3) Using the Mobile Gateway. Tap on Arthur Terry School. Enter your password and tap OK - Do not save your password. If you are not automatically connected to your desktop, tap on Desktop. Desktop on Android Desktop on Apple To right click, tap and hold on the screen. A circle will form around your finger, release your finger once it is complete to right click. Right Clicking Pinch the screen to zoom in. To close the gateway, tap start and log off as you would in school always make sure to log off once you have finished using the gateway. 5 4) Using the Toolbar. A toolbar is displayed at the top (Apple/BlackBerry) or bottom (Android/Kindle). When using Android, the toolbar is automatically hidden. Press the phone s menu button to display it. To turn a feature on, tap it. When on, it will be illuminated blue. Tap it again to switch it off. Toolbar on Android/Kindle Toolbar on Apple/BlackBerry Scrolling: Allows you to scroll through a document or folder by swiping your finger up or down. Keyboard: Displays the on- screen keyboard. To close the keyboard you must tap this button again the hide button on the keyboard will not work. Mouse Pointer: Displays a mouse pointer on the screen that you can move around with your finger. Mouse Controls: Displays the mouse controls, allowing you to quickly right click, scroll or display the keyboard. Mouse Controls IT Services 02/2014 5

6 4) Troubleshooting If the gateway looses the connection, the screen will turn grey. It will try to reconnect, if it does not succeed, tap the menu button on the toolbar and select exit. If the connection is slow, ensure the following: - You are connected to, and within good range of a WiFi connection. - Your mobile device is not running too many other apps at the same time. - Your mobile device software (e.g. Android or ios), and the AccessToGo software are up to date. Your username may cease to function once your password has expired, please log on inside school or contact ICT Services to reset your password. There is currently no application for Windows Phone although an HTML5 version of the gateway can be accessed through the normal web gateway on Windows Phone devices. IT Services 02/2014 6
