4 1 About this document 1.1 Purpose This document explains how to install the acquire Licence Administrator on your computer. 1.2 About the acquire Licence Administrator The acquire Licence Administrator is an application designed for the management of licences for the acquire 4 product suite and acquire Neo. The application is packaged with the acquire and acquire Neo installers and is also available as a standalone installer from the acquire website. It is intended to be used primarily by the system/server administrator or the acquire Key Technical Contact to perform their administrative tasks i.e. to set up and manage floating licences for a company. However, it can also be used to manage node-locked licences by individual users. No special privileges are needed to access the acquire Licence Administrator once it is installed. However, the tasks you can perform using the application may depend on your role (permissions assigned) within your company. For example, only system/server administrators or the acquire Key Technical Contact (not individual acquire users) are likely to have permissions to manage floating licences on a server. 5 2 System Requirements 2.1 Hardware Server Machine Server requirements are dependent on the database size, number of users and level of usage. It is recommended that a customer work with their IT department to determine the server requirements for their installation. 6 2.2.2.NET Framework Version Microsoft.NET Framework must be installed on the target device. The application installer will inform you during the installation process in case you do not have the appropriate Microsoft.NET Framework version installed..net Framework Licence Server Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5 Microsoft.NET Framework 4 (Client Profile) Minimum Microsoft.NET Framework 4 (Extended) Note: Some operating systems are only compatible with specific.net Framework versions. For example, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP are not compatible with.net Framework 4.5. Please refer to the documentation of the operating system you are using to check for compatible.net Framework versions. 7 3 Installation 3.1 acquire Licence Administrator To install the acquire Licence Administrator, use the acquire Licence Administrator.msi file from the acquire website (existing customers only). To install the application: 1. Download and save the acquire Licence Administrator.msi file to the server that is (or will be) managing your acquire licences. 2. Run the acquire Licence Administrator.msi file. The Welcome to the acquire Licence Administrator Setup Wizard dialog opens. 3. Click Next. The End-User Licence Agreement dialog opens. 4. Read the licence agreement. If you agree to the licence terms, select the I accept the terms in the Licence Agreement checkbox. 5. Click Next. The Custom Setup dialog opens. Note: The default settings are strongly recommended. If you do not want to install all the features, click the drop-down button next to the feature that you want to exclude, then click the Entire feature will be unavailable option. A will display in the drop-down box beside the feature. 6. If required, use the Browse button to specify a different location for the acquire Licence Administrator to reside than the default that will apply. The default installation path is: For a Windows 32-bit operating system, C:\Program Files\acQuire Licence Administrator\ For a Windows 64-bit operating system, C:\Program Files (x86)\acquire Licence Administrator\ 7. Click Next. The installer now has all the information required to begin copying the files and settings to your server. 8. Click Install. When the installation is completed, you will see the Completed the acquire Licence Administrator Setup Wizard dialog. 9. Click Finish. The acquire Licence AdministratorSetup Wizard closes and indicates that the acquire Licence Administrator is installed on your computer. 3.2 Safenet RMS Server RMS Server version is the minimum requirement. If you have an older version, you need to uninstall it and then install version Installing version will: Enable server logging by default. The default location for log file storage is C:\ProgramData\Acquire\Licensing\rmslog Override the logging setup on the version you have installed. If you are currently using the LSERVOPTS environment variable, it will be overwritten and log files will be stored in the default location. Note: The acquire Licence Administrator.msi will also load the setup files for RMS Server version to the acquire Licence Administrator installation directory. 8 To uninstall an older version of RMS Server: 1. Go to Programs and Features in the Control Panel. 2. Uninstall Sentinel RMS License Manager. To install RMS Server version 8.5.1: 1. Navigate to the installation directory of the acquire Licence Administrator. You will see a sub-folder called RMS Server. 2. Open the RMS Server sub-folder. 3. Run the setup.exe file. The Sentinel RMS License Manager InstallShield Wizard will be launched and it will guide you through the installation. Note: Some older versions of RMS Server had a different default installation directory than version In such a scenario, you will need to copy your licence files from the old installation directory to the installation directory of the newly-installed version. To copy your licence files from an old installation directory to the new one: 1. On the server, find the files lservrc and lsreserv. 2. Copy these files from the old location to the appropriate folder: For a 32 bit server: C:\Program Files\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel RMS License Manager\WinNT For a 64 bit server: C:\Program Files (x86)\common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel RMS License Manager\WinNT 3. Open ControlPanel->AdminTools->Services. 4. Stop and then start the Sentinel RMS License Manager. 5. Open the acquire Licence Administrator and check the licence servers to ensure that the existing licences display correctly. Note: If no licences are displayed, check that the file lservrc is in the correct location and has no.txt extension. Then, repeat the procedure from step 4.
