4 1 General Information Demonstrating the synergy between Energy management, Enhanced performance, and End-user value, Ericsson s 3E product family exploits digital power control techniques to provide users with highly efficient power converters that are exceptionally easy to use stand-alone or at system level. 2 About 3E Gold Edition The 3E GUI (graphical user interface) Gold Edition software package has been developed to present a number of benefits and opportunities that come from using digital control and management in power devices. The control and monitoring of a device using a digital communications interface is only one of the many possibilities that this technology provides. 3 Prerequisites and Preparation This section describes the contents of the 3E GUI Gold Edition package and the conditions that are necessary for its installation. The person carrying out the software installation must have knowledge of the Windows operating system and the authority to install the software on the computer (typically Administrator level). 3.1 Computer system requirements The recommended computer system requirements are: Pentium 1 GHz or better processor. at least 512 MB of RAM 500 MB of available hard-disk space USB 1.1 port 1024x768 resolution monitor, 16-bit video card, or better CD-ROM or DVD drive 1/1531-CXC /2 Rev B Ericsson AB (10)

5 3.1.1 Software requirements Supported operating systems: Windows XP Pro SP2 and later; Windows Vista; and Windows 7. The following software environment is required: Windows Installer 4.5 or later Microsoft.NET Framework 4 or later The software package will install these components if necessary. 4 Installation 4.1 Software installation Extract the delivered zip file into a temporary folder and run the setup.exe file. The installation will now start Installing 3E GUI Gold Edition when Microsoft.NET is installed The next screens show the installation process that runs when a compatible version of.net is present. See Section if a.net Framework screen appears in place of the Welcome screen below. In case any security messages appears during the installation e.g. Windows need your permission to continue click Continue or Yes. 1. When the welcome screen appears. 6 2. Choose the folder in which to install the 3E GUI Gold Edition software, choose if all users on the computer shall be able to use the software or not, then click Next. 3. Wait until the confirmation window appears, then click Next. 1/1531-CXC /2 Rev B Ericsson AB (10)

7 4. Wait until the Installation Complete window appears, and then click Close Connect the PMBus Adapter Connect the Ericsson USB PMBus Adapter to an USB port on the PC. The device drivers will now be installed. Wait for the message Device driver software installed succesfully. The software is now ready to use Installing 3E GUI Gold Edition when Microsoft.NET is not installed The installation process automatically checks for the presence of compatible.net Framework components before installing the 3E GUI Gold Edition software. If necessary, the installation process downloads the.net environment from the Internet and installs it automatically (Section describes how to obtain.net and install it manually): 1. Run Setup.exe to install the application. The first window that appears is the license agreement for Microsoft.NET. Click Accept after reading the agreement: 1/1531-CXC /2 Rev B Ericsson AB (10)

8 2. Downloading and installation of Microsoft.NET starts 3. If a message Setup must reboot before proceeding is shown. Press Yes to reboot now or No to save your works and reboot manually. The installation of 3E GUI Gold Edition will start automatically after the reboot. Follow the steps in above Manually installing Microsoft.NET Framework If you need to install Microsoft.NET manually: 1. Navigate to Microsoft Download center lookup Microsoft.NET Framework 4 (Standalone installer) and download the file dotnetfx40_full_x86_x64.exe, and save it on removable storage as necessary 2. On the target computer, navigate to this file and select Run : 1/1531-CXC /2 Rev B Ericsson AB (10)

9 3. In the window that appears next, read the agreement and check the box I have read and ACCEPT the terms of the License Agreement : 4. Click Install 5. 10 5 Un-installation 5.1 How to un-install 3E GUI Gold Edition To un-install the 3E GUI Gold Edition software: 1. Open Control Panel on the computer 2. Go to Add or Remove Programs 3. Select the Ericsson 3E GUI program 4. Click Remove 5. Answer Yes to the question 6.
