4 INSTALLING DIMODELO ARCHITECT INTRODUCTION Dimodelo Architect can be downloaded in two distributable versions, one with, and one without the Visual Studio 2010 Shell. Because Dimodelo Architect is a Standalone application built on the Visual Studio 2010 shell, it requires both Visual Studio 2010 and.net Framework 4.0 installed. If you don t have Visual Studio 2010 already installed then choose the version that comes with the 2010 Visual Studio Shell. In this case the installer will install both Visual Studio 2010 and.net Framework 4.0 prior to installing Dimodelo Architect. If you already have Visual Studio 2010 installed, then download the version without Visual Studio 2010 shell, as it is smaller. Note: Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio (VS) 2008 can be installed side by side without issue, but VS 2008 must be installed before VS Pre Requisites. In order to Generate SSIS Packages and run them through Dimodelo Architect is necessary to install at least SQL Server Integration Services (for your target edition i.e. SQL Server 2008, 2012 etc). You install Integration Services through the SQL Server Installer. For a complete installation of Integration Services, together with the tools and documentation for developing and managing packages, select both Integration Services and the following Shared Features: SQL Server Data Tools to install the tools for designing packages. Management Tools Complete to install SQL Server Management Studio for managing packages (and 32bit execution on a 64bit machine). Client Tools SDK to install managed assemblies for Integration Services programming. These are the minimum requirements. Any other SQL Server Components can also be installed. Dimodelo Solutions. 5 INSTALLATION After downloading the distributable zip file from the website and unzipping the content, double click the SetupLauncher.exe file in the distribution folder for Dimodelo Architect. Depending on what is already installed on your PC, the installer will attempt to install:.net Framework 4.0 Visual Studio 2010 Isolated Shell. If Visual Studio needs to be installed, your PC will restart, after Visual Studio has been installed. The installation process, may not restart automatically. You will need to double click setup.exe again to continue. Visual Studio 2010 can take some time to install itself. Dimodelo Architect. The following installation explanation describes installation when Visual Studio 2010 is already installed. If the installer that includes Visual Studio 2010 is used, additional prompts will be displayed asking you to install.net 4.0 (if required) and Visual Studio 2010 Isolated Shell. 7 The installer discovers the local instances of SQL Server and asks you to nominate one as the default Server for development. New projects are created with configuration that targets this server. This can be changed on a project by project basis later. Installation complete. REGISTERING DIMODELO ARCHITECT Open Dimodelo Architect by double clicking Dimodelo Architect Icon on the desktop. Click Dimodelo>Register Dimodelo. A registration dialog appears. Note. In this case Dimodelo Architect is already registered. If not registered the Status will say Trial Edition. 8 Fill in the registration details, and click the Create if Outlook or another mail client exists on the development PC. Otherwise, copy and paste the details displayed in the box at the bottom, and to An will be sent to you with two registration keys. Once the registration keys have been received, open Dimodelo Management Console, click the Register menu option then the Register button. Enter the two registration keys in the box provided. 10 INSTALLING DIMODELO MANAGEMENT CONSOLE Dimodelo Management Console is only required on a Server where you want to execute an ETL Batch run, and Dimodelo Architect is not already installed. A prerequisite for installing Dimodelo Management Console is.net 4.0 is required on the server prior to installation. To install double click the Setup.exe file in the distribution folder for DMC. 13 REGISTERING DIMODELO MANAGEMENT CONSOLE Open Dimodelo Management Console by double clicking Dimodelo Management Console Icon on the desktop. Click Register. A registration dialog appears.
