3 1 Introduction This document describes the way how to program one or more Orions into iprotect. iprotect support Orion: Version 8.03 or higher 1.1 System setup The Orion system setup is schematically processed in the drawing below: iprotect server Client PC Ethernet max. 8 Polyx max. 8 RS485 RS485 For more information about the Orion, please consult the Orion documentation: 3

4 2 iprotect Settings This chapter will describe the settings which has to be made into iprotect. 2.1 License No extra licenses are needed when programming the Orion into iprotect. However, account should be taken of the number of connected readers and the corresponding Reader license. Click in iprotect Aurora on the menu item Installation Database License. Check the value of license number 22 Max supported readers. 2.2 Add line Click in iprotect Aurora on the menu item Installation Hardware Line. Right-click in the browse window and select Add line. The detail window opens. Enter these data: Type: Network device : (check) (with nodes): check Mode: Keyprocessor MAC address: the MAC-adress of the Polyx (optional) IP-address: the IP-address of the Polyx 2.3 Add node Click with you right mouse button on the created Line (see chapter 2.2) and choose Add node. The detail window opens. Type: Orion Serial port address: PRT2 or PRT3 (Max. 8 Orions per port) Serial number: Enter the serial number of the Orion or leave it empty* : (check) After saving the Node record, a (location) Buzzer output will be created by the system. * At the rear of the Orion you can find the unique 7 digit serial number. When leave this field empty, it will automatically discover the connected Orions. However, account should be taken that you know which Orion (serial number) is placed where in the building. 4

5 2.4 Add reader There are two options to create a new card reader in combination with an Orion: Option one Conditions: The Line and Node are active and the status/quality is 100% When presenting a card for a non existing Reader which is connected to the Orion, iprotect will create the Reader by itself and will calculate which Card data interpretation it must use. When it doesn t match an existing Card data interpretation, it will create one. Search for the new created Reader /Output: Set the inputs and outputs Door: Set the door unlatch time (default: 3 seconds) Other settings: All other settings are optional Click on the left side (treeview) on the + in front of the Reader. The Reader group list will be displayed: Check one or more reader groups Save the date Option two Conditions: Line and Node can be on- or offline. The user wants to create the Reader manually Click with you right mouse button on the created Node (see chapter 2.3) and choose Add reader. The detail window opens. Subnumber: 1 or 2 Card data interpretation: Select an existing /Output: Set the inputs and outputs Door: Set the door unlatch time (default: 3 seconds) Other settings: All other settings are optional Click on the left side (tree-view) on the + in front of the Reader. The Reader group list will be displayed: Check one or more reader groups Save the date 5

6 2.5 Add input Open in iprotect Aurora the menu item Installation Hardware or click with you right mouse button on the created Node (see chapter 2.3) and choose Add input. The detail window opens. mode: Follow contact signal Type: See chapter Save the record type Depending of the selected input it s possible to select more input mode values. 7 2.6 Add outputs Click in iprotect Aurora on the menu item Installation Hardware Output. Right-click in the browse window and select Add output. The detail window opens. Enter these data: for the output Node: Select the Node Number at node: select the specific output of the device Output mode: Follow source Source: Constantly low Save the record. 7
