5 Signing Into JDE Software User ID Password Environment Role User name for access to JDE software. User determined security code. Set of data, programs, files and tools. Secured set of data and programs that can be accessed by users that have been granted access based on the role name.

7 INTERACTIVE PROGRAMS
8 General Terminology Program Applications System Code It can be interactive or batch. Separate components of the integrated JDE software suite such as Job Cost or Payroll. JDE software suite numbering system. For example Address Book = 01, Accounts Payable = 04 and Purchasing = 43. Used for numbering screens, reports, programs, etc.
9 Interactive Applications - General Interactive Applications Interacts directly with the system database in real time. Program name begins with P.
10 Interactive Applications - Specific Interactive Applications Settings behind the programs control what is displayed and how the application will perform. Programs are tailored to meet various company requirements.
11 Address Book System Code 01 An electronic rolodex file of contacts, address information, phone numbers, information, etc. Contains records for any entity that could have an address. Examples are: employees, customers, suppliers, subcontractors, jobs, ship to addresses, companies, tax authorities, carriers, banks, etc.
12 Screen Terminology Form Menu Bar Header QBE (Query by Example) Grid Screen within an application that displays data in either a grid or a tabbed format. A group of actions that can be performed on the displayed form. The top portion of a form used to: - filter results in the lower portion of the form on a search screen - enter common data for all records on a data entry screen. Data filter row at the top of many grids to specify or narrow a data query on a search screen. Lower portion of many forms displaying the filtered results of a query in rows and columns.
13 Application Menu Bar Navigation Select Button Find Button Add Button Copy Button Delete Button Close/Cancel Button Selects the checked record. Finds records based on the search criterion in the header or QBE line. Accesses the screen/form used to add a new record to the database. Copies an existing record. Deletes an existing record (if the system permits it). Exits/quits the screen/form or program. Back up one screen/form.
14 Application Menu Bar Navigation Row Report Tools Contains selections that exit the user to a new program for the selected row in the grid. Contains selections that exit the user to reports related to the module or the currently selected application. Contains selections of applications or system tools such as Import, Export, Data Browser and Grid Format.
15 Menu Bar Navigation & Assistance Buttons Display Additional Rows Jump to End Visual Assist A button that displays 10 more rows in the grid at a time. A button that displays all rows in the grid. A button that displays a list of valid values.
16 Menu Bar Navigation & Assistance Buttons About Button Help Button Item/Field Help Button Query Provides information about the screen/form and program the user is currently in. Displays system level help documentation. Clicking the button enables item/field level help. Then clicking on an item or field provides specific help information. Must click again to deactivate. Display and creation of user-created queries

20 Batch Program Batch Program (UBE Universal Batch Engine) Versions A program that queues up and waits its turn to run and update the database. Usually process large numbers of records and/or produces a report. Program name begins with R. Variations of interactive and batch programs that contain data selection and processing options.
21 Batch Program Data Selection A selection tool that allows the user to specify what records a UBE processes.
22 Batch Program Processing Options A set of changeable parameters that control how a program processes or runs.
