1 Multi Language Modifications Doc Last Modified Date: Monday, August 20, 2007 Program Overview: Multi Languages are now built into the Visual Streamline software. The following multi language changes are supported: Ability to have forms print in different languages Ability to have product descriptions stored in multi languages Ability to have product descriptions print on forms in multi languages Ability to view multi language product descriptions on screen How it works: To Control Forms Printing: There are two language flags in the AR Master Files. One flag is called Language and the other is called Forms Language The Language flag is not used anywhere in the software and is strictly for the Customer Service Rep to know what language the customer prefers to communicate in. The Forms Language flag is used to change the language of forms for that particular customer. Example Pick slips, invoices, order acknowledgements etc that are printed for customers that are flagged as Spanish will all print in Spanish. 2 To access the Forms Language flag: Click on AR > Master Files > Customers > Park on the Customer and click Modify. Change the Forms Language flag here. The form, as well as the descriptions will print in the corresponding language that the customer is flagged as in the AR master file. Page 2 of 7
3 To Control Entering and Viewing of Multi language product descriptions: There is a flag in the Control file Maintenance screen under the Misc tab that needs to be turned on to enable the drop down of the different languages in the product screens. Turn the flag on here. There is a flag in the User Maintenance file that needs to be set to identify the preferred setting for each user. The flag is called User Language The system will read this flag, when a user initially logs into the software, and will set the Product Code Lookup screen, Customer Service inquiry, and Warehouse Master accordingly. This will change the language the product descriptions are stored in. When set, the system will automatically use that language as the default language when in the Product Code Lookup screen, and Product Master screen. The user has the ability to override the default, by changing the flag in either the Product Code Lookup or Product Master file. When changed, the system will read that new flag for the current session only. Once the logs off, and logs back in, the default from the User Maintenance file is used. Page 3 of 7
4 Set the language default by user here. If a user is not setup with a defined language in the User Maintenance screen, the system will pick up the setting in: Company Setup > Company Info. This is the default if no language is set in User Maintenance. Page 4 of 7
5 Click here to change the language flag for the session only, or to enter descriptions in multiple languages. Once you change the language flag, the system will allow you to enter a description pertaining to that language. If you previously only had descriptions stored in English, and you change the flag to Spanish, the system will display a blank description field to allow you enter the Spanish descriptions. 6 The language flag on the product code lookup screen is located here. The descriptions will reflect the language flag setting. If a user has the language flag set to Spanish, the system displays the descriptions in Spanish, if a Spanish description has been entered. These language flags also control the language for descriptions throughout the system. For example, order entry descriptions will appear in Spanish as well. Page 6 of 7
