1 RM Bridge CONNECT Edition V10 Update 2 Release Notes Enhancements in RM Bridge V10 Update 2: RM Bridge CONNECT Edition V10 Update 2 contains enhancements and several error corrections. The following enhancements and maintenance items are included in this release: Wind buffeting in time domain Visualization of loads Export tendons to OpenBridge Modeler (OBM) Minor Enhancements Error corrections RM Bridge View Enhancements and Error Corrections

2 Wind buffeting in time domain: The wind analysis has now been extended to include wind buffeting in time domain. The program automatically generates coherent or non-coherent time series at structural nodes from the wind power spectra and other related information. This feature is specifically developed for long-span, floating suspension and cable stayed bridges. This unique feature enables users to perform a complete nonlinear dynamic analysis of bridges under the combined action of wind and other time dependent loads like earthquake, train, hydrodynamic waves, etc.

3 Visualization of loads: The positions, directions, and magnitudes of the all added loads are displayed graphically. This feature helps in verifying that the loads have been correctly applied thus minimizing data-entry errors. Export tendons to OpenBridge Modeler: Models created in Bentley OpenBridge Modeler (OBM) can be brought into RM Bridge for analysis and design. This version of RM Bridge allows the export of the geometry and properties of tendons designed in RM. The enhanced OBM model will be useful in preparing more complete material quantity estimates and in planning construction.

4 Minor enhancements Action TINT, CALC: Various program optimization has been made to reduce the calculation time. This new version reduces average solution time up to 20%. Parallel computation of wind time series: The Used processor input in Recalculate pad can be used to specify the number of threads in computation of time series from wind power spectra. The actual number of processors chosen internally is dependent upon the minimum of either the user input or as needed by the algorithms for optimum performance.

5 Update mechanism for On-Site installations improved. The existing and new material database as well as cross-section catalogues are automatically merged. A backup of the previously data is saved in a TCL file. Objects that are part of RM Bridge database are detected by their names and will be replaced. Objects that have been added by user will be kept. Automatic generation of Load Combination Tables according to the South African Standard TMH7 is now available under Extras. Error Corrections: The following lists the major error corrections made in version Action TINT: Execution without SUPINIT in advance. Usually, the superposition result file has to be initialized before TINT. This leads to the problem that minimum values > 0.0 and maximum values < 0.0 are not output. If the superposition file does not exist, then TINT initializes it at first time step and all wanted values are output. Attention: The action GODEL sup-file has to be executed before TINT, otherwise the superposition file is already setup in a 2nd calculation run. Action TINT: If the superposition file does not exist, then TINT initializes it at first time step and all wanted values are output. Please note the action GODEL sup-file needs to be executed before TINT GUI: Refresh Auto-assemblies has been added. This needs to be used when element groups are modified.

6 GUI, Recalculation: Summary of Recalculation options has been updated. RM Wizard: AASHTO and JTG: Non-linear temperature adjusted to new approach using temperature attribute set instead of TEMPVAR approach. Action EIGEN, load type ELMASE: The global eccentric transformation was missing before adding masses to nodes; this has been corrected. Action Creep, Canadian standard: Only external formulas could be used and internal formulas were not implemented. The internal formulas per CHBDC have been added and creep curve for Canadian code can be used. Modified the drop-down menu for selecting the attribute-set in non-linear load case (TNLIN) to display only the "temperature" type. Fixed incorrect behavior of Action FibIILc for cases where an envelope is given in Output-1 for storing the results RM Bridge View V Enhancements and Error Corrections Following improvements and fixes have been carried out in comparison to RM Bridge View V8i, release v : Major Enhancements: - Speedup of save/redraw up to significantly after changing view or results options - Simplified handling with Results Import dialog using checkboxes (removed Copy button) - Publish i-model (can be accessed from the File main menu) - Renamed button Save As to Export in 2D Diagram preview - Switch order of Results Options and View Options buttons in the toolbar Error Corrections: - Fix: Not possible to assign same View from XML to two different view windows - Traffic Lane / Load Train show/hide fixes. - Crash fix: EC data were not saved if beam has no begin or end part. - Fix: Beam directions were drawn at some parts of the structure even if they are turned off in view options. - Output of sum A1+A2 (user defined + additionally needed) reinforcement as in RM instead of outputting only A2
