SERVICE BULLETIN No. 252 Design Organisation Approval No. AS-SB/17/016 dated 17 November 2017 RECOMMENDED SUBJECT: NEW GARMIN LOADER CARD TO UPDATE G950 SOFTWARE 1. GENERAL 1.1 AIRCRAFT AFFECTED P.68R, P.68C, P.68C-TC, P.68TC Observer and P.68 Observer 2 aircraft from s/n 487 up to s/n 503, except s/n 495, equipped with Garmin G950 ICDS having: Display unit PFD/MFD software version 15.02, and Loader Card p/n 006-B0935-37. 1.2 PURPOSE The purpose of this Service Bulletin is to supply information to embody the new Loader Card p/n 006-B0935-38 released by Garmin in order to fix CAS audio alerts not working. 1.3 DESCRIPTION Vulcanair had informed, through the Service Letter No.44, all P.68 aircraft Owners/Operators about not proper working of the CAS audio alerts from Garmin G950 ICDS. Garmin has now released the new Loader Card p/n 006-B0935-38 to fix this issue. WARNING The Loader Card p/n 006-B0935-38 is available only on the Garmin Dealer Resource Center for Garmin Authorized Service Centers. First Issue dated 10 November 2017 Page 1 of 13

2. WORK PROCEDURE Part A Data collect 1. Take note from AFM Section 6 of all the installed standard and optional items. 2. Take note from Aircraft Log-Book of any change embodied to the aircraft from its delivery date. 3. Start the G950 in normal mode. 4. Take note of the correct type of aircraft loaded in the MFD power-up page. In the Figure 7 there is a generic example in which is highlighted the area where it is possible to find the information related to the aircraft configuration profile. 5. Turn the large FMS knob to display the list of page groups; continue turning the large FMS knob until the AUX page is selected. 6. Turn the small FMS knob to display the SYSTEM STATUS page (see Figure 8). 7. Take note of the items loaded (scroll the entire page). 8. Start the G950 system in configuration mode (both PFD and MFD): a. Remove power from PFD and MFD by opening the PFD and MFD circuit breakers. b. While holding the ENT key on MFD, restore power by closing the MFD circuit breaker. c. When the message appears on the display, release the ENT key. d. Repeat the steps b and c for the PFD. 9. On PFD select the Transponder configuration page (see Figure 11). 10. Take note of the configuration active. 11. On PFD select the GMA configuration page (see Figure 9 and Figure 10). 12. Select LEVELS page (see Figure 9) and take note of the configuration active. 13. Select OPTIONS page (see Figure 10) and take note of the configuration active. 14. Power down the avionic system and proceed as per Part B. Part B MFD & PFD Software Upgrade WARNING Do not clear the user settings. 1. Carry out the MFD & PFD Software Load in accordance with the paragraph 15.2.2 of G900X/G950 Installation and Maintenance Manual Software, Configuration, and Calibration p/n 190-00719-00, latest revision. WARNING Do not remove power during software upgrade. Part C SW Upload With both the PFD and MFD in configuration mode, it is needed to upload the software by operating exclusively on the PFD. 1. On PFD, go to the System Upload page using the FMS knob. Figure 1 PFD commands 2. Activate the cursor and using the FMS knob, move it to the GROUP field, then select "Aspirated" or "Turbo" as per the affected aircraft. 3. Press the ENT key. 3 blades airframe profiles are applicable to the following 3-blades propellers: MT-Propeller model MTV-12-B-C-F/CF183-59b applicable to P.68C and P.68 Observer 2 aircraft. MT-Propeller model MTV-12-B-C-F/CF188-53 applicable to P.68C-TC and P.68TC Observer aircraft. 2 blades airframe profiles are applicable to all aircraft equipped with 2-blades propellers, and to the P.68R, P.68C and P.68 Observer 2 aircraft equipped with 3-blades propellers model MTV-12-B- C-F/CF183-53. 5. When the aircraft has been selected, press the ENT key. WARNING Ensure that the correct airframe type is selected before proceeding. Otherwise, an incorrect configuration information will be loaded. 6. The page with the list of LRU to be uploaded is displayed. The system, based on the software versions and the current aircraft configuration, actives the flag in the fields related to the equipment that shall be updated. Figure 4 System upload page 7. Using the FMS knob, every single item of the upload menu can be selected and/or deselected, so that their software loadings can be uploaded. 8. Part D Optional Items Upload In this paragraph the optional items upgrade will be carried out, in such a way as already done for standard equipment and described in the previous paragraph. 1. Repeat the instructions in the steps from 1 to 3, as described in the previous Part C. 2. Select the Options item in the GROUP field and press the ENT key. 3. PFD displays all the optional devices that can be loaded as reported (only for reference) in the figure below: Figure 5 System upload page ITEM selection for Options Group 4. Rotate the FMS knob to select the item to upgrade and press the ENT key. CAUTION The two options "S-TEC 55x Installation Option" and "Enable Flight Director Installation Option" must be always loaded, while all the other options depend on the aircraft configuration (refer to data collected in the Part A for the list of optional items to be loaded). 5. The system automatically proposes the needed updates. 6. Press the LOAD key to start the UPLOAD process. 7. TAWS (if applicable): Some options require the concerned Enablement Card to be enabled (i.e. TAWS, SVS). When Terrain Awareness and Warning System was enabled for the first time, the G950 wrote its unique system ID to the physical card and locked the files to the unique ID. For this reason, the TAWS Unlock Card p/n 010-00330-51, delivered with the aircraft, must be used to re-activate the TAWS feature. First Issue dated 10 November 2017 Page 6 of 13
a. Power down the avionic system. b. Remove power from PFD and MFD by opening the PFD and MFD circuit breakers. c. Insert the TAWS Enable Card p/n 010-00330-51 into the upper slot of PFD. d. Start the G950 System (both PFD and MFD) in configuration mode as per step 8 into Part A. e. On PFD, go to the System Upload page using the FMS knob. f. Activate the cursor and use the small FMS knob to select ENABLE TAWS in the ITEM field. g. Press the ENT key to select the ENABLE TAWS option. Once the option is selected the configuration files are displayed. h. Press CHK ALL softkey and then LOAD softkey. i. Monitor the status of the upload. When the upload is finished, press the ENT key to acknowledge the upload complete confirmation. j. View the SUMMARY field and ensure that the item is COMPLETE. k. De-activate the cursor. l. Power down the avionic system. m. Remove the TAWS Enable Card p/n 010-00330-51 from the upper slot of PFD and preserve to the aircraft owner. 8. SVS (if applicable): When Synthetic Vision was enabled for the first time, the G950 wrote its unique system ID to the physical card and locked the files to the unique ID. For this reason, the SVS Unlock Card p/n 010-00330-54, delivered with the aircraft, must be used to reactivate the Synthetic Vision feature. a. If not already done, power down the avionic system. b. Remove power from PFD and MFD by opening the PFD and MFD circuit breakers. c. Insert the SVS Unlock Card p/n 010-00330-54 into the upper slot of PFD. d. Start the G950 System (both PFD and MFD) in configuration mode as per step 8 into Part A. e. On PFD, go to the System Upload page using the FMS knob. f. Activate the cursor and use the small FMS knob to select ENABLE SYNTHETIC VISION. g. Press ENT key to select the ENABLE SYNTHETIC VISION option. Once the option is selected the configuration files are displayed. h. Press CHK ALL softkey and then LOAD softkey. i. Monitor the status of the upload. When the upload is finished, press the ENT key to acknowledge the upload complete confirmation. j. View the SUMMARY field and ensure that the item is COMPLETE. k. De-activate the cursor. l. Power down the avionic system. m. Remove the SVS Unlock Card p/n 010-00330-54 from the upper slot of PFD and preserve to the aircraft owner. First Issue dated 10 November 2017 Page 7 of 13
9. Chartview (if applicable): When Chartview was enabled for the first time, the G950 wrote its unique system ID to the physical card and locked the files to the unique ID. For this reason, the Chartview Unlock Card p/n 010-00330- 53, delivered with the aircraft, must be used to reactivate the Chartview feature. a. If not already done, power down the avionic system. b. Remove power from PFD and MFD by opening the PFD and MFD circuit breakers. c. Insert the Chartview Unlock Card p/n 010-00330-53 into the upper slot of PFD. d. Start the G950 System (both PFD and MFD) in configuration mode as per step 8 into Part A. e. On PFD, go to the System Upload page using the FMS knob. f. Activate the cursor and use the small FMS knob to select ENABLE CHARTVIEW. g. Press ENT key to select the CHARTVIEW option. Once the option is selected the configuration files are displayed. h. Press CHK ALL softkey and then LOAD softkey. i. Monitor the status of the upload. When the upload is finished, press the ENT key to acknowledge the upload complete confirmation. j. View the SUMMARY field and ensure that the item is COMPLETE. k. De-activate the cursor. l. Power down the avionic system. m. Remove the Chartview Unlock Card p/n 010-00330-53 from the upper slot of PFD and preserve to the aircraft owner. 10. Auxiliary Video Input (if applicable): When Auxiliary Video Input was enabled for the first time, the G950 wrote its unique system ID to the physical card and locked the files to the unique ID. For this reason, the Auxiliary Video Unlock Card p/n 010-00330-58, delivered with the aircraft, must be used to re-activate the Auxiliary Video feature. n. If not already done, power down the avionic system. o. Remove power from PFD and MFD by opening the PFD and MFD circuit breakers. p. Insert the Auxiliary Video Unlock Card p/n 010-00330-58 into the upper slot of PFD. q. Start the G950 System (both PFD and MFD) in configuration mode as per step 8 into Part A. r. On PFD, go to the System Upload page using the FMS knob. s. Activate the cursor and use the small FMS knob to select AUXILIARY VIDEO. t. Press ENT key to select the AUXILIARY VIDEO INPUT 1 option. Once the option is selected the configuration files are displayed. u. Press CHK ALL softkey and then LOAD softkey. v. Monitor the status of the upload. When the upload is finished, press the ENT key to acknowledge the upload complete confirmation. w. View the SUMMARY field and ensure that the item is COMPLETE. x. De-activate the cursor. y. Power down the avionic system. z. Remove the Auxiliary Video Unlock Card p/n 010-00330-58 from the upper slot of PFD and preserve to the aircraft owner. Part E Update configuration Once the upload of the standard and optional items has been carried out, before to exit from the upload system procedure, it is necessary to perform the configurations update process. 1. In the SYSTEM UPLOAD page, press the softkey UPDT CFG in the lower right corner of the PFD. 2. Confirm the start of the procedure pressing the ENT key on the PFD. Figure 6 System upload page Part F Final checks and airworthiness restoration 1. Start the G950 system in normal mode. 2. Check the correct type of aircraft loaded in the MFD power-up page (ensure it matches data collected in the Part A). In the figure below there is a generic example in which is highlighted the area where it is possible to find the information related to the aircraft configuration profile. In case of aircraft wrong loading, repeat the software configuration loading procedure. 3. Turn the large FMS knob to display the list of page groups; continue turning the large FMS knob until the AUX page is selected. 4. Turn the small FMS knob to display the SYSTEM STATUS page. Figure 8 AUX - System status page 5. Check that all the LRUs are matching the data collected in the previous Part A. 6. Check that all the LRUs are green flagged in the STATUS field. 7. Check of engine software: a. Start the G950 system in normal mode. b. On MFD select the EIS page. c. Start the G950 system in configuration mode (refer to step 8 into Part A). b. Select the GMA1347 configuration page. c. 9. Check of Transponder GTX33: a. Start the G950 system in configuration mode (refer to step 8 into Part A). b. Select the Transponder configuration page (as shown in the Figure 11, only for reference). c. Check if each configuration active is matching the data collected in the Part A. Figure 11 Transponder configuration page 10. If any field needs to be changed: a. Push and rotate the little knob until the concerned field is selected. Press ENT. b. Using the little knob, insert the concerning data, then press ENT. c. Press SET>ACT and confirm by pressing ENT key. d. Ensure that the inserted data is correctly shown in the ACTIVE column. 11. Power down the avionic system. 12. Check of ALERTS: a. Start the G950 system in normal mode. b. Wait for system power up and check that all the systems are operative (absence of Red X). c. On PFD, press the ADVISORY key in the lower right corner of PFD. d. ALERTS window will be shown. Figure 12 ALERTS window e. Rotate the FMS knob to scroll the messages. f.
