Section 1: How do I get to Google Classroom? 1) Click on the magnifying glass icon in the bottom left corner of your screen. 2) Click on All Apps 3) Select the Google Classroom icon Section 2: How do I join a class? *follow step 1 the first time only 1) Scroll to the bottom of the page and select I am a student 2) Click the + symbol in the upper right corner of the page 3) Click join a class 4) Enter class code (given by teacher) and click join 5) All of the classes you are enrolled in will appear on your Dashboard like this 3
Section 3: How do I find my assignments? From your Dashboard, choose the class you want to go to. There are three tabs on the main page for each class. Those tabs are stream, classmates and about. Class assignments & announcements are listed in the stream tab. There is also a quick reference box that will show you assignments you have not turned in yet. Assignments are listed under the stream tab and will appear in it s own box. There may or may not be a description listed under the title of the assignment. The due date is written on the far right of the box. If you finished that assignment, then it will say done in green letters. 4
Section 4: How do I begin an assignment? To begin an assignment and add it to your Google Drive, click on the title of the assignment ( Paragraph 1 in the example). Once the assignment is added to your Drive, your name appears after the title of the assignment, like in the picture below. Click on the title of the assignment/your name again and the assignment will open in your Google Docs, ready to be worked on. Your name appears in the top bar next to the assignment title. 5
Section 5: How do I turn in an assignment? When you are done with your assignment and you re ready to turn it in,click on the turn in button in the upper right of your document. You are asked one more time if you want to turn in the assignment. Click Turn in to continue turning in the assignment or Cancel to go back and make changes. Once you have turned in your assignment, you cannot edit your document until your teacher returns it to you, even though you can still see the assignment in your Google Drive. This is just as if you handed your teacher an actual piece of paper. Once you ve turned the assignment in, a green check and Done appear next to the assignment on the your Stream tab. As long as the due date has not passed, you may click on the assignment title and then click unsubmit if you would like to make changes. Just don t forget to turn it in again. 6
Section 6: Where do I find my grade? Go to View All in the quick reference box of the class you want to look in. You are now in the Assignments screen. Click the Done tab at the top. This is where you will see the assignments and grades that you ve turned in through Google Classroom. 7
Section 7: How do I get to Google Classroom from home? If you do not have the Google Chrome browser at home, please ask your parents to help you get it by visiting http://sfxlgtech.weebly.com/ to download Chrome and for directions to get logged in to Chrome and Google Classroom. How do I log in? You log in to Google Classroom using your username and and password that you were assigned in school. After signing in to Google Classroom, you will be taken to your Dashboard. 8
