Office 365 for Education What is Microsoft Office 365 for Education? Microsoft Office 365 for Education is a subscription for a suite of cloud- based productivity products featuring Microsoft Outlook Web App, Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus including the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access and Publisher and access to OneDrive. With Office 365, you will have access to your applications and files from virtually anywhere. When will Office 365 for Education be available? We began offering Office 365 for Education subscriptions free to students and faculty Feb. 6, 2015. Who is eligible for the Office 365 offer? This offer is available for students currently enrolled with the University and for active faculty members. Additionally, alumni and former students will have access to email using the Outlook Web App. Will I have any problems connecting to my University Office 365 for Education account if I already have a personal or employee Office 365 account? Users with multiple Office 365 accounts will need to logout of the other accounts before attempting to launch their University Outlook Web App from ecampus. Is an internet connection required to use Office 365 for Education? To use the full features of Office Online, OneDrive and Outlook Web App, you need an internet connection. Outlook Web App has an offline feature that can be enabled for limited support in select browsers. Please see Using Outlook Web App offline for more details. Microsoft Outlook Web App How do students and faculty access their Outlook Web App mailbox? Students and faculty access their email and calendar through ecampus. Login to ecampus and click the envelope icon in the top right corner of the page. When the ecampus email tool opens, click the blue inbox button at the top of the tool to open Outlook Web App. The mailbox can also be accessed directly through https://outlook.office365.com. How long can students and faculty use the Outlook Web App? Alumni and students no longer enrolled in classes can continue to use Outlook Web App for email, calendar and contacts. pg. 2
What browsers can I use with Outlook Web App? Outlook Web App works best in the current version of most popular web browsers. If you are using an older browser version or operating system, you may see a version of Outlook Web App without access to OneDrive or Office Online. For more information visit the Microsoft support site and read the Supported browsers for Outlook Web App article. Can I access my University email on my mobile device or Outlook client? Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync is now supported for University of Phoenix email. Students and faculty can connect to University email accounts from native email clients on mobile devices and from Outlook clients installed on your PC or Mac. Other connections using IMAP, POP3, and STMP protocols are also supported. On most setup configurations, all you need to know is your University email address and ecampus password. Step- by- step instructions and any additional settings that might be needed can be found on PhoenixConnect. Mobile users may also access their email, calendar and contacts on their devices by installing the Microsoft Outlook Web App on their ios and Android devices. Look for one of the following apps in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store: OWA for iphone OWA for ipad OWA for Android After launching the app, enter your University email address and ecampus password. Click Continue and then select Advanced. Change the server field to outlook.office365.com and then click Continue. Supported Devices iphone 4S or newer running ios 6.0 or higher Android running 4.4 KitKat or higher Can I forward my University email to a personal email account? Outlook Web App mail can be forwarded to another email account. From the Settings menu, select Options then Mail then Accounts and finally Forwarding. pg. 3
Microsoft Office Online, Office 365 ProPlus, and OneDrive What is OneDrive? OneDrive is data storage in the cloud. It allows students and faculty to store Word, Excel, PowerPoint, pictures, videos and other files, and to access these, from virtually any device with a Web browser. How do students and faculty work access Office Online and OneDrive? Office Online and OneDrive are accessible in the Microsoft 365 portal. This portal is accessed through Outlook Web App. Click on the email envelope icon at the top of any ecampus page and then click the blue inbox button. Once Outlook Web App opens, OneDrive and the individual Office Online applications are available by clicking the app launcher icon (nine small squares) on the top left side of the portal header. What are the differences between Office Online and Office 365 ProPlus? Office 365 ProPlus (Installed on Computer) Office 365 ProPlus is a full version of Office installed on your computer. The programs have the same features and functionality as other versions of Office. It includes Access, Excel, InfoPath, Lync, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word. Office Online (Web Based) Office Online is a powerful browser- based tool that supports many of the same features found in Office 365 ProPlus. Office Online opens Word Online, Excel Online, PowerPoint Online and OneNote Online documents in your web browser. Office Online makes it easier to work and share Office files from anywhere with an Internet connection. When will Office 365 ProPlus be available? Eligible students and faculty can install and activate Office 365 ProPlus on Jun 12, 2015. The Office 365 ProPlus download and step- by- step instructions will be available on PhoenixConnect. Can I still purchase a version of Microsoft Office at a discounted rate? University of Phoenix will continue to offer a license for the Microsoft Office 2013 desktop version to students at the discounted rate of $69.99 through the University Marketplace. pg. 4
Why would I purchase Office 2013 software if I am eventually going to receive Office 365 ProPlus for free? A purchased Office 2013 license from University Marketplace provides users with full ownership of the product and is valid for extended users within the same family. With the discounted Office 2013 offer, you will have traditional ownership of Microsoft Office 2013 on your computer even after enrollment with the University. The free Office 365 ProPlus program will be a subscription service assigned to a single user set to expire after a student is no longer enrolled in courses at University of Phoenix. If you plan to purchase the discounted Office 2013 software, you will need to do so while you are actively enrolled in courses. You will be ineligible for the program after you have graduated or have stopped taking courses. How long can students and faculty use Office 365 ProPlus and OneDrive? Currently enrolled students can use Office 365 ProPlus and OneDrive until they graduate or are no longer enrolled at University of Phoenix. Faculty can use the software as long as they are actively teaching courses. Microsoft may re- verify eligibility at any time. At expiration, these applications will no longer be accessible in the Office 365 portal. Can I submit a file from OneDrive to the Classroom? Before you can submit a file to the Classroom, it will need to be stored on your local computer. You can easily download a file using the File > Save As menu option in Office Online or by using the Manage > Download a Copy menu option in One Drive. Will plug- ins such as Riverpoint Writer and MegaStat work with Office Online? Office plug- ins will not work with Office Online. Riverpoint Writer is not compatible with the version of Word included with Office Online. Students and faculty can use Riverpoint Writer and other plug- ins such as MegaStat with the full version of Office 365 ProPlus.
