Integrated System Featres Total Data Data Exhange with DCS/PCS/SCADA Systems Correlate & Process Data Enables Highly Cost-Effective Asset Designed Specifically for Personnel Fll Client- Operation The Integrated and Erosion System is the most comprehensive and powerfl on line system available. It is ideally sited for medim to large scale systems, or for small systems with the need for ftre growth. The Integrated and Erosion System allows integration of all the Cosasco range of corrosion, erosion, and cathodic protection monitoring inpts, inclding the latest in metal loss Microcor technology, LPR corrosion rate, pitting tendency and galvanic probe transmitters. With the varying range of applications, commnication and network infrastrctre, no two systems are alike. The simple flexibility of the systems allows different configrations to be easily designed and implemented to meet yor specific reqirements. The combination of Cosasco field proven hardware, Amlet software engine, and the extensive systems experience of or Cosasco engineers, assres cstomization to yor specific reqirements and garanteed performance.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW The system corrosion management server is the heart of the corrosion or erosion monitoring system, integrating several forms of corrosion monitoring and process data into one complete online system. and erosion monitoring is managed as a process parameter with constant streaming data directly into yor preferred system interface. According to the application, Cosasco will typically incorporate one of several different types of corrosion and erosion monitoring system components, and operate over varios commnication links. For example, an pstream oil and gas prodction field will vary from a refinery or offshore platform both in the monitoring technologies employed and the commnication infrastrctre sed. An pstream oil and gas field is spread over large distances with operation throgh an existing commnication network where the system mst be integrated into this existing network. By comparison, a Refinery, Gas Plant, or offshore platform will have shorter direct commnications links sing wired, wireless, or fiber optic connections. The nmatched range of monitoring technologies offered by Cosasco allows the proper matching of the system to the application. The overall system architectre comprises the following: 1. On line Monitoring Hardware a. Microcor Digital High Resoltion b. Linear Polarization Resistance (LPR) Digital LPR c. Digital Erosion d. Electrical Resistance (ER) Analog e. LPR Analog f. Cathodic Protection g. Any other Related Analog Inpts 2. Datalogging Hardware 3. Metal Loss Copons 5. Ultrasonic Measrement Data 6. Manal Inpts and Imported Data 7. Amlet Software 8. ON-LINE DIGITAL SYSTEMS Microcor High Resoltion Metal Loss Microcor advanced Digital Metal Loss technology is perfectly complemented by the on line system. Useable in any process environment, it provides 50 times greater sensitivity than existing ER methods, allowing a 10 mpy pset to be detected in abot 1 hor instead of 2 days. An example of a simple wired configration is shown opposite. The explosion proof Microcor transmitter ses a 24 VDC spply and 2 Wire RS 485 commnication bs, allowing connection of p to 32 transmitters in a mlti drop or star configration. This connection flexibility greatly redces the cost of field wiring and installation. Microcor digital or ER analog technology is essential in process flids, sch as hydrocarbon service, where a continos corrosive water phase is not consistently present at the probe. rate is compted from the change of metal loss over time. Simple Wired System with Microcor Transmitters LPR Rate and Pitting LPR electrochemical technology is generally preferred for clean water systems (hydrocarbon content less than 5%) as it prodces an instantaneos corrosion rate with a single reading. In addition it also has a pitting tendency measrement based on electrochemical crrent noise. The system, as shown to the right, enables the Microcor and LPR transmitters (Model E 9020) to be mixed and matched as reqired in the systems sing the same commnications protocol and wiring system. Both transmitters se a RS 485 mlti drop connection and 24 VDC power spply. System shown with Microcor & E 9020 Transmitters Erosion Monitoring The Erosion System tilizes the same high resoltion technology as Microcor with a probe specifically designed for sand erosion detection. Often times sand prodction can case rapid erosion and wear on the oter diameter of bends and areas downstream of changes in pipeline diameter. The Erosion (Model MT 9485A) transmitters operate on the same power and commnication bs as the Microcor and LPR digital transmitters. System shown with Microcor & Erosion Transmitters

ER and LPR s Many legacy systems in the field se 4 channel ER and LPR Probe Interface Modles ( s). These s have local power and a 4 wire RS 485 digital commnication bs. The to probe distance is greater than for the Microcor / LPR E9020 system bt the ER is lower resoltion than Microcor and the system s hazardos location certifications are more restricted. Both new and legacy systems can operate on the same system, with a separate bs for each type. This can be sefl in extending existing systems with the newer technology. 4104T 4104 9134 RS 485 Lines Wireless Microcor and LPR shown with Probe Interface Modles New Wireless HART Microcor and LPR transmitters (available early 2009) may also be fed into the system throgh the Wireless gateway over the Ethernet network, or transported throgh and existing HART Wireless process control network. Wireless systems are particlarly attractive de to their redced installation costs typically estimated at arond $10,000 per point. The Microcor Wireless transmitter has on board comptation of corrosion rate from metal loss, providing for even easier integration into other wireless process control systems. New Wireless Transmitters can be fed Directly into Cathodic Protection Monitoring monly, the Cathodic Protection system and internal corrosion and erosion mitigation is controlled by the same personnel. With the Remote Monitoring Unit (RMU) mlti channel inpt, CP impressed crrent rectifiers, sacrificial anodes, and reference electrodes can all be monitored into the same over the same network. This enables all of the corrosion related data to be kept in one central database for ease of management, and control by the relevant staff. These systems have been deployed both onshore and offshore, with varios commnication channels as reqired by the application and existing commnications infrastrctre. ON LINE ANALOG SYSTEMS ER and LPR and Others Legacy systems with 4 20 ma ER and LPR Transmitters, or systems that bring in any other 4 20 ma signals to be monitored are easily integrated into the system throgh analog to digital interface modles. If existing corrosion transmitters or other transmitters are connected to the DCS or SCADA system, these parameters can be transferred to the server throgh a variety of interface drivers, sch as Modbs, PI system drivers or OPC. DATA LOGGING SYSTEMS LPR Data Loggers systems are assisting an increasing nmber of corrosion monitoring systems to go flly on line, often replacing earlier data logging systems. However, additional remote or investigative probe locations may also need monitoring on an on going or occasional basis. Battery operated Remote Data Collectors are well sited for these locations, and with CheckMate DL or CheckMate Pls instrment this data can be collected and transferred to the System, providing a single location for all of the corrosion data. Cosasco s on line Ultracorr system provides an nparalleled accracy in continos on line monitoring offering a resoltion of 0.1 mils, approximately 40 times better than normal inspection ltrasonics It is ideal for bried pipelines where intrsive monitoring is difficlt. Ultracorr ses high resoltion technology to detect both erosion and corrosion. Mltiple transdcers are connected to a jnction box where the Ultracorr instrment can easily be connected to download periodic time and date stamped measrements of wall thickness. Data can then be transferred directly in from the Ultracorr instrment into the server for analysis and comptation of corrosion rates. Data can be collected and transferred to the System sing Corrdata Data Loggers Ultracorr transdcers are connected to a jnction box at one central location for data collection

Metal Loss Copons Copon data is one of the simplest forms of corrosion monitoring. Copon data is sed in on line systems as a calibration standard for other means of corrosion monitoring (ER and LPR). In addition copons can be examined for evidence of pitting and other localized forms of attack that are not recognized by other on line monitoring techniqes. Copon monitoring points are strategically located throghot the system. Copons are then retrieved, weighed, and analyzed at set intervals, sally three months, and entered into the for correlation with other corrosion data and process parameters. COSASCO 2 System Copons Process Parameters Probably one of the most important featres of the system is the ability to easily correlate corrosion related data with changes in process parameters, other imported data from laboratory analysis, or manally inpt data sch as inhibitor injection rates. Factors affecting corrosion can be qite complex in many applications and reqire carefl analysis to first nderstand the controlling factors, and then secondly to maintain control. The system is essential to be able to do this effectively and reap the financial rewards. The DCS is optimized for process measrement and control, with rapid response and short history span of 1 or 2 days. Typically process data is made available across the bsiness network throgh a Process Data Historian. The is optimized for the slower bt more extensive corrosion related data and analysis. Data exchange between the two servers is sally accomplished throgh Modbs, OPC, or throgh a driver to a PI Process Data Historian. Metal Loss Graph Copon Entry Screen With the present practice of separating the process network from the bsiness network with a firewall to protect the process control system, it is most common for the to be located on the bsiness network, since the corrosion analysts are normally on the bsiness network, and operators also have access to that network. Derivative process parameters and Key Performance Indicators (KPI s) can be easily created in the System with the extremely powerfl and easy tose Calclation Designer, avoiding cstom programming. Cost information can be added to the system so that financial parameters can be tracked, sch as the cost of inhibitor per barrel and the inhibitor sage to compte the cost of corrosion mitigation. Calclation Designer

/y Amlet Software The Monitoring server is commonly monted in a 19" rack in an eqipment room adjacent to the plant central control room along with the DCS and SCADA servers. The server ses Microsoft SQL as its database providing client/server operation to sers over the network. Designed by corrosion engineers for corrosion engineers, the program has extensive capabilities. Some of its many featres are as follows: Extensive Powerfl Graphical Data Displays Correlation Graphical Displays Extensive Hardware inpt options Bilt in Copon Calclator Excel Import and Export Fnctions Easy Interfacing with DCS and SCADA Systems Mltiple Database Exchange options Mlti Level Alarms Bilt In Standard Reports Cstom Report Generator Bilt in powerfl Calclator for easy set p of KPI s Log book for related data storage and linkage Log book links to graphical displays Logbook Search Fnction Properties Fnction for point related information Powerfl Properties Search Tool Cosasco Remote Spport /y 30-CM-132 AXL 30-CM-130 AM /y 30-CM-135 E002 D008 /y 40-CM-237 E101 /y E201 30-CM-134 D107 /y /y D207 40-CM-143 30-CM-139 D106 D206 D003 /y K101 40-CM-244 /y K201 40-CM-240 /y 40-CM-238 /y 40-CM-241 /y 40-CM-239 D004 /y 30-CM-137 D061 /y 40-CM-145 /y 40-CM-144 Flare Typical Mimic Diagrams GOSP-1 /y /y 40-CM-243 40-CM-242 /y 30-CM-140 GOSP-1 D060 Water Injection Plant The power of the system is the potential retrn on investment that it came help yo achieve. A recent cstomer had installed systems at three of their main gas processing plants. They had initially made significant savings in the plant operation that had paid for the system in the first 12 months. Later at one of the plants, management was becoming concerned with gradally increasing corrosion rates that were becoming major plant replacement and re investment isses. A concerted stdy and analysis of the system was ndertaken with the system over a 6 month period. The reslts of the findings from this stdy show that they will save an estimated $50 million per year when the findings are implemented at all of their 11 plants. Sample Standard Bilt in Report Cosasco also provides remote access and spport for its systems, typically over the internet throgh the client s secre VPN network. Secrity is a major concern for IT departments of all corporations these days. Throgh a VPN connection to or secre maintenance server, we provide a maintenance contract that provides the client with rapid spport and assistance with data interpretation or system maintenance qestions. As staffing levels get lower and less experienced staff are available, the comfort and secrity of system spport is essential. Excel Import and Export Fnctions
