DS4000 Storage Manager V9.23 and controller firmware version 06.23 for DS4700 Express Models and the DS4800 Midrange Disk System enable Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) Enhanced Disk Drive Modules (E-DDMs) and Fibre Channel (FC) E-DDMs to be intermixed within the same DS4700 or EXP810 enclosure. Additionally, this new version of DS4000 Storage Manager and controller firmware enables intermix of EXP810, EXP710, and EXP100 expansion units, attached to DS4700 Express Models or attached to DS4800 Midrange Disk Systems. The Intermix Activation feature is required when intermixing both Fibre Channel and SATA drives within a DS4000 controller or within a DS4000 controller and any of the attached expansion units. Newly introduced disk drive options include: 4 Gbps FC 300 GB/15,000 rpm E-DDM (42D0410): This new E-DDM provides a higher capacity, 4 Gbps, 15,000 rpm FC disk drive module for the DS4700 and EXP810. 750 GB/7200 rpm SATA II E-DDM (43W9714): This new SATA II E-DDM increases the physical storage capacity of the DS4700 and EXP810 to 12 terabytes (TB) per enclosure. DS4200 750 GB/7200 rpm SATA II Enhanced Value Disk Drive Module (EV-DDM) (43W9738): This new SATA II EV-DDM increases the physical storage capacity of the DS4200 and EXP420 to 12 TB per enclosure.
