ENTRIES = ++PTF (RO90834) CICS STORAGE VIOLATION CREATING AN SQL REPORT FORMAT Using CA-Datacom/Dataquery online during the creation of an SQL formatted report a Storage Violation (S0C4) is possible. A Storage Violation is produced when a user is in SQL mode of Dataquery online (DQRY). The user has chosen the Format Report option of DQRY and is progressing thru the create panels. DQRY produces a Storage Violation abend and the user's online DQRY session proceeds. Avoid using the Format Report option of DQRY. The basic query will execute without a formatted report. DECIMALCOLEVEN = DECIMALCOLODD MADE RQAABLE 2. TIMESTAMPCOLUMN <OP> 'TIMESTAMP LITERAL' NOT PASSED TO CBS ========================================================================== DECIMALCOLEVEN = DECIMALCOLODD MADE RQAABLE ENHANCEMENT DESCRIPTION: Predicates comparing packed decimal values that differ only in precision are now passed to the Compound Boolean Selection (CBS) facility where an index could be restricted and improve performance. Example: SELECT * FROM T1 INNER JOIN T2 WHERE T1.COL1 = T2.COL1 T1.COL1 IS DECIMAL(4,0), T2.COL1 IS DECIMAL(5,0) In this case, since the precision of T2.col1 is greater than t1.col1, this join predicate did not restrict access to T2. Now, since DECIMAL(4,0) has the same number of physical bytes as DECIMAL(5,0), for the purpose of evaluating the predicate, the DECIMAL(4,0) is considered DECIMAL(5,0), so the predicate can be evaluated by CBS. For larger differences in precision, the predicate is evaluated by CBS (for an EQ operator), and it is evaluated again in SQL in case the higher precision digits are not zero. This enhancement only affects the differing precision but equal length case in the example. CA Datacom SQL Release 15.0 CA Datacom SQL Release 15.1 SQL 2079 ========================================================================== TIMESTAMPCOLUMN <OP> 'TIMESTAMP LITERAL' NOT PASSED TO CBS A predicate of the format timestmap_column <basic op> 'timestamp literal' is not passed to the Compound Boolean Facility (CBS). This problem was introduced in Version 15.0. The query executes longer because the index is not restricted. If the timestamp_column is in an index, the query will search more index entries than necessary, causing the query to execute longer. Use the TIMESTAMP function to convert the literal to the timstamp data type as in the following format timestmap_column <basic op> TIMESTAMP('timestamp literal') CA Datacom SQL Version 15.0 CA Datacom SQL Version 15.1 SQL 2078 Copyright (C) 2017 CA.
