Notebook Registration Guide This document shows you how to register your notebook (Windows) before downloading the software for your course. Please take note of the following before you proceed a. Please turn off the User Account Control or UAC. b. Disable the Anti-Virus installed in the laptop e.g. Norton, Symantec etc. c. Depending on your default browser, you will need to change some settings for the download to be successful. Go to the relevant section to change the settings d. Remember to put back original settings for your browser and turn on UAC after you have downloaded and installed ALL your software e. If you encounter any issues, please run in Internet Explorer 11. B. Download using Internet Explorer 11 1. Launch your browser 2. Click on gear on top right hand corner and select Internet options. 3. Go to Advanced Tab, uncheck Enable Smart Screen Filter and click on OK button. Updated on 07 Feb 2017 Page 4 of 19
4. Click on the LINK to download notebook registration program. Click on the down arrow button and select Save and Run. REMINDER During download, you may encounter the following prompts. Please follow the steps per the Windows version of your notebook. Windows 8 /10 a. C lick on More Info Windows 7 a. C lick on Actions b. Click on More Options b. Click on Run anyway to continue c. 5. Enter your Username and Name in the boxes as shown and click on Register E. g. Student number is 10012345 K then Username Is s10012345 6. Once the browser is launched, will launch a browser. 13. Click on the Notebook Registration Refresh button. 14. The list of software needed for the course will be shown for download and installation. C. Download using Firefox 1. Launch your browser 2. Click the LINK to download notebook registration program. 3. Click Advanced 4. Click Add Exception.. Updated on 07 Feb 2017 Page 9 of 19
