1 Introduction 1.1 Intended use This software is used for configuration of measurement parameters in ETAS ES6xx product line devices. It can be used either as add-on for INCA measurement and calibration software or standalone. This version supports following measurement modules: Lambda modules: ES630, ES631, ES635 and ES636 1.1.1 Safety Notice Calibration activities influence the behavior of the ECU and the systems controlled by the ECU! This may result in unexpected behavior of the vehicle and thus can lead to safety critical situations! Calibration activities should be performed only by well trained personnel! Page 4 of 9
2 Product Description 2.1 System Requirements The following minimum system requirements have to be met: Required Hardware Required Operating System Required Free Disk Space Required Rights 2 GHz PC 1 GB RAM DVD-ROM drive, for the installation Network adapter Graphics with a resolution of at least 800 x 600, 16bit colors Windows XP (SP1), Windows Server (SP2), Windows Vista (SP1), Windows 7 500 MB (not including the size for application data) Write access to registry ((HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) 2.1.1 Restrictions Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 98 and Windows 2000 are not supported. 2.2 Software Requirements The firmware of all used ETAS modules must be updated with HSP V10.0.0 or higher. INCA V7.1 for the ES6xx Add-On For measurement and calibration with INCA and ES6xx modules together with ES4xx and ES93x modules, we recommend following additional software: ES4xx modules: ES4xx Add-On V1.4.0 or higher ES93x modules: ES93x Add-On V1.4.0 or higher For rapid prototyping with INTECRIO / ASCET-RP and ES6xx modules together with ES4xx and ES93x modules, we recommend following additional software: ES4xx modules: ES4xx Hardware Configuration Tool V1.4.0 or higher ES93x modules: ES93x Hardware Configuration Tool V1.4.0 or higher 2.3 Installation The software is delivered as an executable file with integrated installation routine. 2.3.1 Uninstall Whenever uninstalling INCA, the included INCA uninstall program should be used. This ensures that all add-ons and other products installed with INCA are also uninstalled. Page 5 of 9
3 Changes This chapter describes changes with respect to the previous versions of ES6xx Add-On & Hardware Configuration Tool. 3.1 What s New V1.4.0 V1.3.3 V1.3.1 V1.3.0 Support of INCA7.1 Issues when loading the file TimeSynchronizationServer.dll on certain computers running Windows 7 64bit solved Support of the Lambda sensor NTK ZFAS-U2 Default setting of flow control set to 'on' in order to reduce any risk of data loss at high acquisition rates Improved Data transfer in the Daisy Chain for better performance when using multiple chains or other ETAS XCP-based devices in parallel at high data rates The default value for the nominal internal sensor resistance (Ri, nom) of LSU4.2 sensors is now corrected to 100 Ohms. The calculation of O2 concentration when operating LSU ADV-G is optimized for more precise reading at O2 = 0% and O2 = 8.29%. 3.2 Known Issues 3.2.1 Hyperthreading Hyperthreading may negatively affect the performance and should be deactivated for this application. 3.2.2 Anti-virus tools To ensure the highest data security for data in the INCA database, the database is saved after every data change or access. This leads to a high amount of read/write cycles and this initiates the scan engine of the virus scan tools to check the differences if the option 'scan all files' is set. This leads to a delay working with INCA. We recommend excluding all files of the INCA database from scanning. Page 6 of 9
4 Hints 4.1 Access rights administration ES63x modules offer wide possibilities for optimizing the operation of lambda sensors. The setting of some critical parameters (i.e. nominal resistance of the sensor) is only possible with the necessary access rights. The administration of the rights is configurable via entries in the file ES4xx.ini, just like setting of default values for ES4xx modules. ES4xx location..\etasdata\incax.x\daisychainmodule..\etasdata\daisy-chain-standalonex.x\daisychainmodule Already performed settings in previous versions will be automatically transferred when installing the actual version. 4.2 LSU 4.2 and LSU 4.7 Lambda Sensors ES63x shows no information on the sensor temperature for this type of sensors, but the invalid value -1000. Nevertheless the sensors are operated at the specified temperature. The calculation of lambda value is performed in analytical mode for this type of sensors. 4.3 LSU ADV Lambda Sensors There are two types of LSU ADV sensors: LSU ADV-G for gasoline engines, calibrated LSU ADV-D for diesel engines, not calibrated (requires software calibration) ETAS offers special LSU ADV-G sensors, equipped with TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet). Those sensors can be used plug-and-play with ES63x devices, all specific settings being performed automatically. For using other LSU ADV sensors, the specific settings have to be performed manually. Please refer to the user guide for more detailed information. 4.4 Network Performance INCA continuously monitors the performance of the Ethernet adapter in use. In case of insufficient performance that might lead to missing measurement data, a message window appears after measurement is stopped. In large setups with an overall sampling rate of > 40k Samples/s, use of PCMCIA Ethernet adapters is NOT recommended. To achieve high data throughput, use of PC-Card, CardBus or ExpressCard Ethernet adapters instead of PCMCIA Ethernet adapters is highly recommended. Using Ethernet adapters compliant to the NDIS5 standard on multicore-pcs might cause timestamp issues sporadically. We recommend the exclusive use of Ethernet adapters according to the current NDIS6 standard. Page 7 of 9
