4 1 Create a new Instrument 1.1 Objectives This document is designed to get you started with the INCA Instrument Integration Development Kit in shortcut way. It therefore provides only basic information on: how to install the SDK on your system and how to create a new instrument. For more detailed information please refer to the INCA Instrument SDK Tutorial. 1.2 Install the ETAS Instrument Integration SDK Install the following tools in the listed order: 1. Visual Studio INCA Instrument Integration SDK 1.3 How to create a new Instrument Open Visual Studio Select File New Project Select Visual C# ETAS INCA Custom Instrument Click OK. Run through the Wizard and configure your project settings. Click Finish on Summary page Visual Studio now creates a new Visual Studio Project. If you use a Visual Studio Community version and you do not see the INCA Custom Instrument project template (see step 3 above). Copy the file ETAS/INCA Instruments Integration SDK 1.2/VS2015Template/INCA Custom Instrument.zip to: C:/Documents and Settings/<user>/My Documents\Visual Studio 2015\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual C# restart Visual Studio The INCA Custom Instrument project template is now in File New Project. 5 1.4 How to modify the user interface of an instrument Use the UI Developer of Visual Studio Find the UI controls in the Visual Studio Toolbox. Only Windows.Forms is supported Add new controls per drag n drop Delete controls you do not need any more. Save your layout 1.5 How to integrate the instrument in INCA Make sure INCA is closed Select Build Build Solution Restart INCA Visual Studio copies the modified instrument automatically into the INCA plug-in folder located at <ETASData Directory>/INCA7.2/Instruments. Check the Output window in Visual Studio to see where Visual Studio has copied your instrument to. The modifications to your instrument are now active in INCA. In the Display Configuration page of the Variable Selection Dialog in INCA s Experiment Environment you will now see a new Icon representing your instrument in the toolbar. You can choose your instrument from the context menu of the layer in the tree to create it.
