ipad Setup and Installation of the PlumTerminal App (ios 9.3.5) Note: The screenshots and instructions contained in this document assume that your device has been upgraded to at least ios 9.3.5. You should upgrade your device s operating system prior to following these instructions NEW IPAD If you are setting the ipad up for the first time, you ll see several prompts when you power it up. Here are the important ones and how to respond to them: 1) Apple ID You ll be prompted for an Apple ID and Password. You can use the AppleID/Password that you received from the PlumReward support team, or you can use your own. Note that if you use your own, you will need to keep track of the password, as the PlumReward support team will not have it. 2) Pass Code Choose a 4 digit pass code to secure the ipad. YOU MUST remember this code, because it cannot be recovered. If you would like PlumReward support to know the pass code, then select 5309. 3) icloud Keychain Select the Don t use icloud Keychain option. 4) Siri Select the Turn On Siri Later option. 5) Diagnostics Select the Don t Send option. IPAD CONFIGURATION Once you are at the Home screen of the ipad and are ready to configure it for PlumReward, please follow these steps: Launch the Settings app by tapping its icon from the Home screen:
Tap Control Center on the left side, then turn the Access on Lock Screen and Access Within Apps options OFF: Tap General on the left side, then tap the Accessibility option:
Scroll down the right side and select the Guided Access option: Turn the Guided Access and Accessibility Shortcut options ON, then tap on the Passcode Settings option:
Tap the Set Guided Access Passcode option and then enter a 4 digit passcode. YOU MUST remember this code. If you would like PlumReward support to know the pass code, then select 5309: Back on the first page of the General section, turn the Gestures option OFF:
Tap the Auto-Lock option and select Never : PlumReward
Tap Display & Brightness on the left side, then maximize the brightness and turn the Auto-Brightness option to OFF: PLUMTERMINAL APP: Tap the Home button on the ipad to return to the Home screen, then launch the App Store app by tapping its icon:
You may be prompted to set up family sharing. If so, tap on the Not Now option. Tap on the search box in the top right corner of the screen and type plumterminal. Then tap on the item that appears in the Suggestions box: When the PlumTerminal profile screen appears, tap on the GET button. This will then change to the word INSTALL. Tap the button again to install the PlumTerminal app:
You will be prompted to sign in to the itunes Store. Use the Apple ID and Password that you received via email from PlumReward Support. You may then be presented with a message saying This Apple ID has not yet been used in the itunes Store. If so, tap on the Review button. Follow the prompts to complete your profile. You can change the name associated with the ID, or leave it as is. You DO NOT need to enter a credit card, but you MUST enter a billing address. Once you complete this process, you can re-start the download of the PlumTerminal app. When the PlumTerminal app has completed downloading, the button next to it on its profile page will change to the word OPEN. Tap on this button to launch the PlumTerminal app:
The first time you run the PlumTerminal app, you will be prompted for a username and password. These are a SEPARATE set of credentials that were emailed to you by PlumReward Support. Then tap on the Log In button: When the PlumTerminal app finishes loading, then Triple Tap on the Home button. If done properly, you will be presented with a screen to put the ipad into Guided Access mode. This will prevent your customers from using the ipad for unintended purposes. Tap on the Start button in the top right corner of the screen to begin Guided Access mode:
If you need to exit Guided Access mode for any reason, you can Triple Tap on the Home button again, enter the Guided Access Passcode that you set up earlier, and tap the End button in the top left corner of the screen. Your PlumReward terminal is now set up. COUPON PRINTER (OPTIONAL): If you are using a coupon printer, plug the USB end of the ipad s lightning cable into the USB port on the back of the coupon printer. This will provide power to the ipad, as well as enable the ipad to communicate with the printer. To test the printer, start the PlumTerminal app, tap on the Redeem Coupon Code button and enter the test coupon code 086-753-090. A test coupon should print out. If it does not, please contact technical support. PIN CODE SECURITY BUTTON (OPTIONAL): If you have PIN code security enabled on your account (you are prompted to enter a PIN code to validate each phone number entry), then you can use any set of headphones that has a volume rocker button to validate customer visits. Simply plug the headphones into the headphone jack on the ipad and run the button wire to where the cashier can access it. When a customer is prompted for the PIN code after entering their mobile phone number into the terminal, the cashier can validate the entry by tapping on the volume up and volume down buttons (in either order). This is a convenient way to validate phone number entries without having to manually enter them on the ipad screen. Congratulations! You re all set up.
