Introduction What is Office for Personal Devices? Microsoft Office is a collection of programs that you will be already using in school. This includes Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel etc.. The school can now offer all students & staff free access to this collection at home! You can install it on up to five computers (Windows & Mac) and five mobile devices (ios, Android & Windows Mobile). This software is only available for as long as you are a member at Cathays High. 1
How do I get Office for Personal Devices? You will need to navigate to your school emails to download the software. To do this, please follow the steps below: We have provided you with three ways of getting to the school email website: 1 2 3 Go to the school website, http://www.cathays.cardiff.sch.uk Click on the Login Button, then click Email Scan this QR code: Go to this URL: https://login.microsoftonline.com/ (with your mobile device) Note To find out if your computer or device is capable of running this software, click here You will then be asked to log in, Sign in to the website using your school email address and school password. (e.g. 13smithjohn@cathays.cardiff.sch.uk or JSmith@cathays.cardiff.sch.uk) 2
How to download Once you have logged in to your emails, you will need to click on the Office 365 logo: You will then see a page like this: In the top right, press on Install Office 2016 This will then download an installation file (.exe) How to Install To install on a computer, simply run (double click) on the file that has been downloaded from Office 365. Then follow the on-screen instructions, which will take you through the process of installing Office 2016. Once Office has installed, you will be asked to sign in, make sure you sign in with your school email address and password. To install on a phone or tablet, you can either go to your App Store (Google Play or Apple App Store) and search for Microsoft Office or click on the Phone & Tablet option (red arrow) and select your device and follow the on-screen instructions. If you are currently running an older version of Office, you will have to un-install the old version first. (E.g. if you currently run Office 2007, you will have to un-install that before running the Office 2013 setup file!) 3
Can My Computer Run It? This software provides you with the latest version of Microsoft Office (2013), and unfortunately, some older computers may not be able to run it. How to Find Out If Your Computer / Device Will Run This Software Windows Start of by opening Control Panel Then click the first option System and Security Then click on System It will then display your systems information, which you then compare against the minimum requirements. 5

FAQs How many devices can I run this software on? Each user is entitled to install this software on 5 computers (Windows or Mac) and on 5 mobile devices. Is this a full version of Office? Yes, this is full version of Office for PC, Mac, ios, and Android platforms. All are available for offline use (when you have no internet connection). How long will the free license of Office last? You will be licensed to use this software while you are a student / staff at Cathays High School. Can I still download Office 2013 if I don t want 2016 yet? Yes, when you go to download the software from Office 365, there is a button that says Additional downloads. You can click on this to download 2013 instead.
