Introduction: NEBB, in continuance of its policy to enhance education and training within the cleanroom industry, will offer its refresher/informative seminar and examination for candidates wishing to become Cleanroom Performance Testing (CPT) Certified Professionals in October 2013. This seminar is designed for NEBB Certified Cleanroom Technicians seeking NEBB Certified Professional status. This course includes an overview of cleanroom performance testing and will be geared to CPT management level positions. Who should attend: NEBB Certified Firms and Non-NEBB firms are encouraged to have their technicians and managers attend this refresher and informative seminar. Those who wish to have their NEBB Certified Technicians become NEBB Certified Professionals that meet the Requirements of Eligibility as stated on the website. His practice focuses on Building Systems Commissioning, Testing and Balancing, Cleanroom Qualification and Equipment Certification. He is a member of NEBB s Board of Director and has conducted various seminars on cleanroom and contributed to NEBB s Cleanroom Procedural Standards. Dan Milholland Dan has extensive experience in filter testing and cleanroom contamination control in the semiconductor, aerospace, and pharmaceutical industries. He has served on various IEST Working groups for over 30 years. He has served as the lead instructor for "Testing HEPA Filters in Cleanrooms" for the Eagle-son Institute, Sanford, Maine since 1992. He is on the NEBB Cleanroom Committee to certify cleanroom certifiers. He completed undergraduate and graduate studies at North Carolina State University and has a Master's degree in biochemistry. 3
Cleanroom fundamentals examination: The NEBB CPT discipline is similar to all of the other NEBB disciplines in that there are written and practical examinations that must be successfully completed in order to attain certification as a Certified Technician and Certified Professional. These written and practical examinations test the knowledge, engineering application and field testing skills required to properly test the performance of today s cleanrooms. In preparation for the upcoming exam and seminar, the NEBB Cleanroom Committee wants to make sure everyone comes prepared for the exam. The exam will consist of two parts. A two hour general knowledge exam The general knowledge exam is multiple choice format There are several questions that require calculations The test is intended to cover the following: Establishing test criteria based on a given scope Knowledge of standards SOP Requirements Safety Requirements Primary Tests Secondary Tests A report review exam The report review exam should take four hours, however we will allow test candidates up to an additional hour if necessary. The test focuses on the following: Verification that all testing conforms to the SOP provided Confirming the validity of data provided Identification of errors Conformance to industry standards referenced in the SOP provided Optional: Technician HEPA Leak Test NEBB will offer practical exams for the NEBB Cleanroom Certified Technician qualification on Thursday, October 24 by paying the required registration fee by October 7, 2013. This exam is required for achieving NEBB-Certified Technician status. Candidates taking the optional hands-on test will be tested using their choice of the Photometer or the Particle Counter Leak Test Method. You are required to bring your own calibrated Photometer or Particle Counter and Diluter that you are familiar with so as not to hinder your chances with passing this test if you intend on taking the practical exam. 4
You should bring all standards available to you for use on both exams. Standards will not be provided at the seminar and sharing between candidates will not be allowed, bring anything you deem necessary for use during these tests including calculators and/or laptop computer and pens and pencils. Candidates, and their company sponsors, will be required to sign a Hold Harmless statement indemnifying NEBB, NEBB Employees, Seminar Instructors and the NEBB Training & Educational Center, of any and all losses associated with the seminar attendance of the individual. Testing schedule: All tests are optional for the seminar attendees and are NOT included in the cost of the Basic seminar. Additionally, NEBB will offer all examinations to any candidate who wishes to be tested but does not want to attend the seminar. This individualized testing is available to any candidate during the testing session of the seminar. Certification requirements: The NEBB CPT discipline offers certification to firms and individuals. All of the requirements are available on the NEBB website at www.nebb.org. 5
Certification of firms is available to all firms performing cleanroom testing services. Firm requirements include such items as, length of time a firm has been in operation, ownership of the required instruments and equipment, letters of recommendations from owners, design professionals and contractors. Certification of individuals is available on two levels: Certified Technician and Certified Professional. Both categories on individual certification require certain combinations of both educational and field experience performing cleanroom testing services. A NEBB Certified CPT Technician must successfully pass the Cleanroom fundamentals examination and the Cleanroom practical examination. A NEBB Certified CPT Professional must successfully pass the Cleanroom fundamentals examinations, the Cleanroom practical examination and the Cleanroom Professional examination.
