2 Course Descriptions: Commercial Door Hardware & its Application 16 hours This two day course will introduce you to basic commercial door hardware; its application, care and troubleshooting techniques. It will address the critical essentials associated to the selection of commercial door hardware and the correct selection of each piece of door hardware for any type of door arrangement. The book titled Door Hardware Simplified authored by Lee A. Garver CAI, DAHC, FDHI will be the required resource material for this course and it will be included in the course cost. In two days you will review codes, door and frame types, including hardware applications for over 50 of the most common commercial door arrangements. You will be required to complete exercises that will help you determine critical detailed information necessary to properly describe and or order each piece of door hardware. Associated with each door arrangement you will be given troubleshooting techniques that will maintain the arrangements proper operational functionally that will comply with local, state and national regulations. If you are caring for, selecting or servicing commercial door hardware this course is for you. There is no other 2-day course like this one, and it s highly recommended for any service personnel who is responsible for the care and maintenance of commercial door hardware. SL021 ALOA Certified Fire Door Inspector 16 hours This is must class for the professional Locksmith today. At the completion of the 2 day class and the successful completion of the additional requirements, you will be eligible to become an ALOA Certified Fire Door Inspector (CFDI). IFDIA is the only association with an IAS accredited curriculum. IFDIA and ALOA bring quality educational standards to the business of fire door inspections. We provide a completely green online reporting and communication environment for the annual fire door assembly requirement as outlined in NFPA 80. This 2-day class includes the IFDIA Online Course with exam in a classroom environment as well as the ALOA Fire Door Field Inspection Course and a review of the International Fire Code 2009 edition with an exam. For those who have not passed the ALOA PRP L-07 Life Safety Codes exam it will be given at the completion of the class. Prequisite: You must log in to the IFDIA site and pass the IFDIA Pre-Qualification Quiz. Lab Fee $ Certified Hardware Installer 24 hours Come learn proper installation techniques for more professional, profitable and secure hardware installations. We will discuss deadbolts, knob-sets, lever-sets, rim exit devices, peepholes and more. Both wood doors and hollow metal doors will be addressed. A special section on fixing bad preps and modifying existing hardware preps will be presented. This class will involve practical classroom instruction as well as hands on installation experience. All tools and materials will be provided as well as handout notes. A written and hands on test will be required for certification. The information presented will be useful in preparing for PRP section L-20. PRP Section L-20 will be offered after class. ALOA Members - $25.00 & Non-Members - $35.00
