s System Overview t Optioally, the MicroAutoBox Embedded PC is itegrated i a MicroAutoBox system. The DS1401 base board ad the I/O boards are coected via a iteral bus (itermodule bus). For details o MicroAutoBox's hardware package, refer to Hardware ( MicroAutoBox Hardware Istallatio ad Cofiguratio) or Hardware ( MicroAutoBox II Hardware Istallatio ad Cofiguratio). DS1401 base board The DS1401 base board provides the basic uits of MicroAutoBox, for example, the PowerPC processor, the memory ad the oboard power supply uit. Because the PowerPC is executig the real-time applicatio, it is called the Master PPC. The followig two DS1401 base boards exist: MicroAutoBox base board Up to board revisio 19, the DS1401 base board is referred to as MicroAutoBox base board. For details, refer to MicroAutoBox Base Board o page 48. MicroAutoBox II base board Sice board revisio 20 (available sice Q2/2010), the DS1401 base board is referred to as MicroAutoBox II base board. For details, refer to MicroAutoBox II Base Board o page 49. All the I/O boards, which you ca use with the MicroAutoBox base board, are also usable with the MicroAutoBox II base board. The board revisio is prited o a type plate o the bottom of your MicroAutoBox. You ca also read the board revisio o the DS1401 Properties page i your experimetatio software. For iformatio o the base board revisios ad the required boot firmware versios, refer to Overview of Board Revisios o page 25. MicroAutoBox Features November 2014 21 t
s Itroductio to the Features of MicroAutoBox t I/O boards The I/O boards that ca be combied with the DS1401 base board particularly determie the I/O fuctioality of the whole MicroAutoBox system. MicroAutoBox variat A MicroAutoBox system cosists of oe or two I/O boards depedig o the MicroAutoBox variat you have purchased. For example, MicroAutoBox 1401/1505/1507 cosists of the DS1401 base board ad the DS1505 ad DS1507 I/O Boards. The followig variats exist: MicroAutoBox 1401/1501 MicroAutoBox 1401/1504 MicroAutoBox 1401/1507 MicroAutoBox 1401/1505/1506 MicroAutoBox 1401/1505/1507 MicroAutoBox II 1401/1501 MicroAutoBox II 1401/1504 MicroAutoBox II 1401/1507 MicroAutoBox II 1401/1505/1507 MicroAutoBox II 1401/1511 MicroAutoBox II 1401/1511/1512 MicroAutoBox II 1401/1511/1512 with DS1552 Multi-I/O Module MicroAutoBox II 1401/1513 MicroAutoBox II 1401/1512/1513 MicroAutoBox II with MicroAutoBox Embedded PC For a overview of the variat-specific features, refer to Feature Support o page 45. s System Overview t I/O board subcompoets Depedig o the I/O board type, the I/O board has specific fuctioal subcompoets: Digital I/O subsystem (Slave DIO MC) The MicroAutoBox variats 1401/1501, 1401/1504, 1401/1505/1506 ad 1401/1505/1507 also iclude a digital I/O subsystem based o the Motorola 68336 microcotroller. It is briefly amed as Slave DIO MC. Amog other I/O capabilities, the microcotroller provides timig maagemet fuctios, which makes especially this subsystem useful for egie ad chassis cotrol. The Slave DIO MC has bee supplemeted with a 64 kword exteral memory ad a 4 kword dual-port memory (DPMEM) for commuicatio with the Master PPC (a Word is 16-bit wide). The PowerPC of the DS1401 is the master, whereas the Slave DIO MC is the slave. CAN subsystem (Slave CAN MC) A further subsystem of the I/O board providig CAN microcotrollers with two differet clock rates, is used for coectio to two CAN buses. It is briefly amed as Slave CAN MC. The PPC of the DS1401 is the master, whereas the CAN microcotrollers are slaves. FlexRay IP modules FlexRay IP modules are used for coectio to a FlexRay bus. No microcotroller is used.
