Maritime Mobile Services

How it works How and when to install On Waves network is linked to the existing VSAT infrastructure. No dedicated bandwidth is needed. Calls are routed automatically to and from the terrestrial gateway of your VSAT provider and from this point directly to our own GSM core network for call processing. On Waves service will be automatically switched-on as soon as the vessel enters International waters. Mobile phones will display On Waves as the network service provider. You are ready to use your phone! On Waves works with your company by conducting a site survey to find ideal locations for antenna installation. Depending on each vessel s architecture, itineraries and rotations, a full implementation takes less than ten days for large cruise or ferry vessels and one day for cargo vessels. On Waves cooperates with the biggest shipyards and has implemented on board communication systems for some of the biggest ferry and cruise vessels across the world.

About On Waves Network Technology On Waves is a leading player in wireless mobile network communications and enables GSM and CDMA coverage on board Cruise & Ferry vessels, Cargo ships, mega Yachts and remote terrestrial locations. On Waves is the Maritime network of Siminn Iceland Telecom, an International mobile phone provider, with more than 450 International roaming agreements, signed and active. Siminn offers maritime roaming services to its GSM roaming partners since late 2002. On Waves and Síminn use an exclusive technology to enable GSM and CDMA voice and data mobile connectivity. On Waves technology can be linked to any VSAT provider and is fully independent. On Waves uses dynamic bandwidth allocation software and enhanced voice compression codecs which reduces the per call bandwidth required from the existing VSAT infrastructure. On Waves is powered by an exclusive and patented technology and offers a wide range of enhanced services that are suitable, both for shipowners, crew members, as well as end users and GSM / CDMA providers across the globe. On Waves roaming agreements, fully compliant with GSM Association regulations, offers worldwide coverage at sea and on land.

For Ferry & Cruise Lines On Waves service enables a seamless usage of mobile GSM and CDMA phones on board your vessels. Your passengers will experience a crystal clear voice and data network. Today s business and leisure travelers demand instantaneous connection wherever they be. Crew members need to stay connected to their family and friends as well. Expectations for advanced communications services at sea continues to grow and On Waves is uniquely position to deliver on this growing demand. BENEFITS A Partnership Agreement between On Waves and your company creates a new unprecedented on-board revenue stream while delivering the highest level of services to your clients. On Waves service is totally free of cost to your company. On Waves owns, operates, maintains the entire network. On Waves is an excellent tool to maintain close communication between your headquarters and staff on vessels. Chief Officers and crew members also benefit through our complementary offer of low, affordable crew calling rates designed to improve crew welfare.

For Merchant Marine Fleets On Waves service may be linked to a C-band or Ku-band VSAT system. On Waves service provides up to seven simultaneous voice channels, enabling crew to place and receive calls from any world-wide location. Text messaging and GSM data service for email and internet access is provided as well. On Waves service has set pricing for crew services at rates far more affordable than traditional satellite-based systems as well as terrestrial roaming rates in port. These affordable rates are applicable anywhere and apply to in-bound and out-bound voice calls and text messages and internet access. On Waves helps Shipping Companies to comply with demands arising from seafarer unions by offering this new, affordable and secured means of communication.
