To prevent the opertor from contcting the sw chin while operting the pole pruner, the minimum distnce between the ctivting switch nd the sw chin shll be 39.37 in. ( 1,000 mm). The distnce shll be mesured with the pole djusted to the minimum distnce between the cutting ttchment nd the ctivting switch. If the pole consists of sections tht cn be removed, the minimum number of pole sections required to operte the device shll be used to mesure the distnce. Pole pruners shll be equipped with momentry contct on-off switch tht shll not be cpble of being locked in the on position. The power supply cord shll exit the enclosure t point frthest from the cutting edges nd in direction wy from the cutting edges. The ctivting switch shll be equipped with device tht utomticlly locks it in the off position when the ctutor is relesed. To provide sfe control, the pole pruner shll be fitted with t lest two hndles. The hndles shll be designed such tht ech hndle cn be grsped with one hnd. If the hndle nerest the cutting device is n integrl prt of the shft, it shll be suitbly shped to be grsped securely with perimeter between 2.56 inch (65 mm) nd 6.30 inch (160 mm). The gripping surfce of the front hndle shll be t lest 3.94 inch (100 mm) long. For bil or closed hndles (U-shped hndles) this dimension is relted to the inner width of the gripping surfce. On stright hndles it is the complete length between the housing nd the end of the hndle. There shll be minimum rdil clernce of 0.98 inch (25 mm) round the gripping length. If the shft is used s hndle, the entire shft length cn be considered s the hndle s long s it is electriclly isolted from the cutting device. Pole pruners hving mss of more thn 13.2 lb (6 Kg) shll be provided with hrness to be worn by the opertor for support nd blnce during cutting opertions. Any hrness, whether required or not, shll be djustble to the size of the opertor nd equipped with quick-relese mechnism to enble rpid emergency relese of the mchine from the hrness or the hrness from the opertor. A protective cover shll be provided with the mchine to cover the sw chin in order to prevent injuries during trnsporttion nd storge. The cover shll not become detched with the sw chin of the pplince in verticl downwrds position. The sw chin cutting ttchment shll be constructed so tht it cn be djusted to obtin the tension recommended by the mnufcturer. The pole pruner shll be provided with mens for lubricting the sw chin. If the pole pruner is equipped with mnul sw chin oiler control, it shll be locted so tht it cn be operted while both hndgrips re held by the hnds of the opertor. 4
