1 Geometry Syllabus The following is a general description and an outline of the topics covered in a full year of geometry. The outline is broken into parts A and B to correspond to our trimesters. Steven Kelly St. Louis High School 113 E. Saginaw St. St. Louis, MI, (989) skelly@edzone.net web.mac.com/xcountry Calculators Each student is required to have their own calculator for class. A scientific calculator will work well for all topics in geometry. A graphing calculator will be required for future classes, but is not a requirement for geometry. Expectations Students are expected to take part in all aspects of classroom discussion and group work. Students are expected to be in class everyday. Students are expected to communicate mathematics in both written and verbal forms. Students are expected to explain concepts, results, and problems graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally. Students are expected to have their own calculator. Students are expected to keep a notebook of class notes and homework problems. Students are expected to study geometry for minutes each night. Geometry-Syllabus 1

2 Grading Policy Grades for each trimester will be given on a points earned basis from the following: Class Participation Homework Tests Final Exam 300 Points 200 Points 500 Points 200 Points Letters grades will be assigned from the St. Louis High School Grade policy: 100% to 94% A 94% to 90% A- 90% to 87% B+ 87% to 84% B 84% to 80% B- 80% to 77% C+ 77% to 74% C 74% to 70 % C- 70% to 67% D+ 67% to 64% D 64% to 60% D- 60% to 0% F Primary Textbook Boyd, Cindy.
