3 PCs and File Servers Before Installation Check that your computer meets the software and hardware requirements specified on the outside of the box or in the User Guide. You can find an electronic version of the guide on the product CD. Close all open applications. Uninstall any firewall 1 or other antivirus products installed on your computer. Start Control Panel Add or Remove Programs or Uninstall a program. After removing these programs, you must restart your computer before continuing. Installation Insert the product CD into your CD/DVD drive and click Install in the Product Installation Window. 2 Follow the Setup Wizard instructions. PCs and File Servers 1 Third-party firewalls only need to be uninstalled if you are planning to use the firewall included in Kaspersky Small Office Security. 2 If the Product Installation Window does not open automatically, open My Computer, select the relevant CD/DVD drive and launch the installation file (*.exe) manually. 4 5

PC Setup We recommend performing the following operations on the PC after the program has been installed and launched: Check that your computer is protected.

4 Activation After the Setup Wizard functions are complete, the Configuration Wizard will ask you to activate the program. Activation is required for use of the program s features and access to free technical support. Please note that an Internet connection and activation code are required for activation. PC Setup We recommend performing the following operations on the PC after the program has been installed and launched: Check that your computer is protected. The computer s protection status is indicated by the color of the computer monitor image shown in the program s main window: Choose the Activate Commercial License option and enter the activation code in the appropriate field. The activation code can be found on the reverse side of the CD envelope. It authorizes you to install the software on as many machines as are granted by your license. The installations on other machines need to be completed within 30 days of the first activation for you to benefit from the full license period for every machine. 3 Write down the date of the first activation. Keep a note of this date, and of your activation code, in a safe place. You may need to use this information again. You may be asked to register the product as part of the activation process. Please complete the registration to continue the installation of the product. You will be prompted to protect application settings with a password. Please make sure to set a password to prevent another person from changing settings or disabling modules or protection components. Please be sure to remember this password. Once the installation process is complete, you will be given the option to start the program immediately. Computer is protected Computer has protection issues There are serious threats 3 To view information about your product license (license number and term), click the license link in the lower part of the main program window. There may be some recommended tasks to run after installation is complete even if the computer is protected and the monitor icon is green. Click the Details button and follow the recommendations. These include Start training your anti-spam protection Configure your backup protection Configure your web surfing policies Update the anti-malware databases. 4 To run updates, click Run Update, in the Update section of the main window. 4 You must be connected to the Internet to update your databases and program modules. 6 7

5 Scan the computer for viruses. Kaspersky recommends that you run a full scan of your computer. Click Run Full Scan in the Scan section of the main window. The initial scan might take some time, so consider running the scan when the PC will be idle for a long period. Server Setup We recommend performing the following operations on any network servers after the program has been installed and launched: Check that each server is protected. The server s protection status is indicated by the color of the monitor icon on the left of the program s main window: Installation on Multiple Machines Follow the instructions below to install Kaspersky Small Office Security on multiple machines and enable them to be controlled by the Management Console. Install Kaspersky Small Office Security on the PCs and server in your office using the same installation instructions as above. Please use the same administration password during each installation. This will allow you to remotely manage the security for all of PCs on your network. From the Management Console screen, you can run scans, schedule updates, perform backup tasks, and remotely manage your employee web policy. 6 Using the Management Console You must be connected to the Internet to update your databases and program modules. From the PC you plan to use to manage all other machines, open Kaspersky Small Office Security and go to the Management Console. You will be prompted to enter the password you created during installation. Run the Management Console Configuration Wizard to Search for the other Kaspersky Small Office Security protected machines on your network Choose an update method Display a summary of your setup Set Web Policy The Web Policy of each machine is set up from within the Management Console. From within the Management Console, select the machine you wish to set up with a Web Policy. Click Enable Web Policy Management. Choose the user profile you wish to manage. Click Configure Policies. From this screen you can set the Internet usage, messaging policy and computer usage. Use the Management Console to manage each individual machine s security software. You can select a PC by clicking on its icon, which is located along the top of the screen. From here you can choose several actions to perform: Set Web Policies Run Scans Control Updates Run Backup Tasks 10 11

7 Mobile Devices Before Installation Check that your mobile device meets the following requirements: It can connect to the Internet. It is running Android TM Installation Options Scan this QR code to download the software directly to your mobile device. OR Connect to in your mobile device browser and installation will start automatically. Kaspersky Internet Security for Android will prompt you to configure and activate the application. Select I have an activation code and enter the activation code found on the card inside the product box. Mobile Devices

8 Frequently Asked Questions Below you will find answers to the questions most frequently asked by users when activating and using the program. Question/issue What should I do if an activation process? Answer 1. Check that your computer has an Internet connection by trying to open a web page. 2. Make sure the system date is specified in the correct format and that it matches the current calendar date and time zone. The program displays the error message: Some protection components failed to start automatically. Perform a program update. If the error message persists, select the Restore icon in the dialog window displayed after clicking Start All Programs Kaspersky Small Office Security Repair or Remove. What should I do if an error occurred during my attempt to perform 1. Make sure there are no third-party firewalls or other antivirus programs installed on your computer. 2. Check update settings, availability of the update source, and the network connection settings and try to perform an update later.
