Reason for Change Introduction of BTI7800 Series software release R Description of Change BTI7800 Series Release provides support for the following: Additional ROADM features: o support for ROADM ring topologies o support for split-roadm node configurations, where ROADM modules in a ROADM node reside on separate network elements o support for add/drop (alien) wavelengths to external endpoints ILA (BT8A78AMPL) module o EDFA inline amplifier, composite DWDM signal amplification o for deployment in transit sites with span losses of up to 33 db (with the PRE module installed) o initial support for 96 channels (50 GHz grid) o full set of alarms and statistics Inband management of the BTI 7800 node o initial support for carrying management traffic inband in an optical network o gateway function allows management traffic to be routed between the inband and out-of-band management networks o static routes only BTI7800 Series Release is supported by PSM Release 6.3 or later, with the following exception: ROADM alien wavelength support requires PSM Release Change Verification Procedure 16. End of Life Milestones The following end-of-life milestones apply for releases under Version 2 of BTI7800 Series network element software: End of software engineering support is planned for 31 December 2017 o Afterwards, BTI Systems will no longer be under obligation to perform any further software fixes, code changes. o further release will be developed or distributed for Version 2. End of support is planned for 30 June 2018 o Afterwards, BTI Systems will no longer be under obligation to perform support services of any kind for any releases under Version 2. For example, etwork Element Software Release 12.1 through Release 12.2 are all Releases under the same Version 12, whereas etwork Element Software Release 12.2 and Release 13.1 are Releases under different Versions.
