2 About This Document About This Document This document contains information about Endpoint Security webrh version 2.4 HFA 1, such as new features and functions in this release, what problems have been fixed since the previous release and system requirements. For your convenience, this document may also contain important information on available Endpoint Security webrh modules which may not necessarily be delivered together with this version of the framework. The Endpoint Security webrh modules are available on the Check Point Download Center. In this document, the abbreviation N/A is used. N/A means Not Applicable. About Endpoint Security webrh Endpoint Security webrh is a web application which can be used by administrators to provide users of Endpoint Security-protected devices with Remote Help. Upgrade Information This version of the Endpoint Security webrh framework is compatible with modules targeted at versions from 2.3 and later of the framework. For this reason, when upgrading the framework to version 2.4 HFA 1 or later, all modules which have been used with an earlier framework than 2.3 must also be upgraded to the most recent versions. The Linux Module At the time of release of Endpoint Security webrh 2.4 HFA 1, there is no Linux module supported by this version of the framework. If you use the Linux Module to supply Remote Help to users of Pointsec PC Linux Edition, you cannot upgrade to this version of the framework until a version is released which supports the 2.4 HFA 1 framework and later. The Mobile Module The older Pointsec for Handhelds Extension cannot be upgraded to the new version of the product: Pointsec Mobile Module. It is the Pointsec Mobile Module which is delivered with the 2.4 HFA 1 framework. Instead, you will have to remove Pointsec for Handhelds Extension before you upgrade to the 2.4 HFA 1 framework or later. After that, you can install the new Pointsec Mobile Module. Even after removing the Pointsec for Handhelds Extension, profiles created with Pointsec for Handhelds Extension will still be available in the Endpoint Security webrh database, and will function with the Pointsec Mobile Module once it is installed. Upgrading from 1.3 or 1.4 When you upgrade Pointsec webrh 1.3 or 1.4 to SmartCenter for Pointsec - webrh or Endpoint Security webrh 2.x, you will be asked to make a copy of the database. The original database and this copy must reside on the same SQL Server during the upgrade. In other words, you cannot place the copy of the database on another SQL Server. 3 New in This Release New in This Release In this release, the following has been added: The product has changed its name. It was previously called SmartCenter for Pointsec - webrh, and is now called Endpoint Security webrh. When adding token entries, it is now possible to select encryption method for the token. The available options are DES and 3DES. Fixed in This Release The following issues have been fixed and verified: Table 1 Fixed issues ID Short description Description/Info When setting the account start date, the calendar and start date field did not match correctly (Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP1 Japanese version) On Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP1 Japanese version, when setting the start date for an account, the calendar and start date field did not match correctly. This has been corrected Problems with legacy licenses It was not possible to set a legacy licence for webrh Problems importing tokens It was not possible to import tokens through the web interface. The database connection was closed before any data was committed. System Requirements The following sections document the server and system administrator requirements and recommendations for installing Endpoint Security webrh. Rights Required to Install Endpoint Security webrh The user account used to install the Endpoint Security webrh SQL database must be member of a group with the right to create a database. By default the local system administrator account has this right. The user account used to install Endpoint Security webrh on the web server should have local administrative rights in order to access the database, install files, modify the registry and assign rights locally. A domain account for the ComPlus application must be dedicated to Endpoint Security webrh. msvcr71.dll File Required in System32 Folder The Microsoft file msvcr71.dll must be present in the System32 folder on the machine where Endpoint Security webrh is to be installed. 4 System Requirements Server Requirements These are the server requirements for Endpoint Security webrh 2.4 HFA 1: The IIS Server: Microsoft Windows 2000 Server with service pack 4 together with Internet Information Server (IIS) 5 and the latest IIS security hot fixes installed or Microsoft Windows 2003 Web Edition with service pack 1 together with IIS 6 and the latest IIS security hot fixes installed. Note - We recommend that you remove as many server headers as possible from the IIS server configuration. An SSL certificate for IIS. For security reasons, we strongly recommend that you run SSL 3.0 on the IIS server. The SQL Database Server: The following versions of Microsoft SQL Server: MS SQL 2000 Standard SP3+ MS SQL 2000 Enterprise SP3+ Note - For SQL Server 2000, you must use Auto Identity range management of SQL Server 2000 or use GUIDs as identifiers in a replicated SQL Server environment. However, if SQL Servers are used as master and slave setup, this is not relevant. MS SQL 2005 Standard MS SQL 2005 Enterprise MS SQL 2005 Express We do not currently support Desktop, MSDE, or Developer editions. 20 MB of free disk space on the server See also Microsoft TechNet at Note - You may also want to check your product documentation for dependency requirements depending on your SQL server version.
