Sir, n continuation of the Commission's letter no. 576/3/EVM/2015/SDR-Vol. / dated 21st September, am directed to forward herewith the Commission's Direction bearing No. 576/3/VVPAT/20 15/SDR- Vol. dated 22 nd September, 2015 specifying the 36 Assembly Constituencies (as per Annexure) of Bihar as the Assembly Constituencies where a printer with a drop box shall be attached to all voting machines being used in the said constituencies for printing paper trail of the vote. The Direction may be published in the official Gazette of Bihar immediately and two copies of the Gazette may be forwarded to the Commission for its information and record. 2. The above mentioned instructions may be brought to the notice of the Returning Officers of the Constituency concerned for further necessary action. 3. ELECTON COMMSSON OF NDA Nirvachan Sadan, Ashoka Road, New Delhi Dated: 22 nd September, 2015 DRECTON 31 Bhadrapada, 1937 (Saka) No. 576/3/VVPAT/2015/SDR-Vol.:- Whereas, Section 61A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, provides that the giving and recording of votes by voting machines in such manner as may be prescribed, may be adopted in such constituency or constituencies as the Election Commission of ndia may, having regard to the circumstances of each case, specify; and 2. Whereas, as per the proviso to rule 49A of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, a printer with a drop box of such design, as may be approved by the Election Commission of ndia, may also be attached to a voting machine for printing a paper trail of the vote, in such constituency or constituencies Election Commission of ndia may direct; and or parts thereof as the 3. Whereas, the Election Commission of ndia has, vide its notification No. 576/3/EVMl2015/SDR-Vol. dated 21 si September, 2015, already specified under the said section 61A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, all the Assembly Constituencies in the State of Bihar as the constituencies in which the votes shall be given and recorded by means of voting machines at the poll to be taken for the current general elections;

Now, therefore, the Election Commission of ndia, in exercise of its powers under the said proviso to rule 49A of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, hereby- (i) specifies 36 Assembly Constituencies of Bihar as listed in the Annexure hereto as the constituencies in which a printer with a drop box shall be attached to every voting machine to be used for the giving and recording of votes at the current general election to the Bihar Legislative Assembly; (ii) approves the design of the printer with the drop box as developed by the Bharat Electronics, Ltd., Bangalore and Electronics Corporation of ndia Ltd., Hyderabad, as the printer which shall be attached to the said voting machines to be used for the giving and recording of votes in the above said Assembly Constituencies.
