However, your specific application as well as your personal preference are also factors to consider. Although both types of caps deliver a good seal, crimp caps provide additional security for food, forensics, and other applications for which you want to avoid sample tampering. We also recommend a crimp-cap vial if you are working with volatile compounds. F217 is a polyolefin foam extruded between two layers of polyethylene, usually 0.050" thick. F217 allows a closure to be torqued with 20 lbs of foot pressure and once the pressure is "backed off" the foam will come back to almost 100% of its original shape giving a good, repeated seal. 10 Specialty Vials VIALS Mininert Valves for Vials Mininert push-button valves are highly dependable, leak-tight closures for screwcap vials and other laboratory containers. When used with a glass vial, only PTFE and glass are in contact with the contents. Their unique features make Mininert valves the ideal closure for calibration standards, air- or moisture-sensitive fluids, derivatizing reagents, or volatile chemicals. Operation is extremely simple - push the green button to open the valve, insert the needle through the septum and take a sample, withdraw the needle, and push the red button to close the valve. Leak-tight closure with syringe access For virtually any laboratory glassware MININERT VALVES FOR VIALS PART NO THREAD QTY /pk /pk /pk /pk /pk mm crimp for 13mm ID* glassware 12/pk Replacement septa 50/pk Installation tool ea *The crimp-top valve for 13 mm ID glassware slides into the neck of the vial and features a threaded flange which is turned to provide a leak-tight fit. Mininert valves can be used at temperature up to 105 F. However, after use at high temperatures, the valve may leak slightly when cooled to room temperature. The sealing ability of Mininert valves is more than adequate for containing most volatile liquids and gases at low pressures. Mininert valves have been used as high as 120 PSI without leakage, but this is not a recommendation for pressurizing glass containers to these levels. Such pressurization of glass containers can be extremely dangerous. EPA/VOA Vials CLASS 1: (Standard) Containers are assembled with liner and closure, without washing treatment. CLASS 2: (Pre-cleaned) Containers are processed according to E.P.A. recommended wash procedures - Washed with laboratory-grade biodegradable, non-phosphate detergent; Rinsed with ASTM Type I De-ionized water; Oven dried; and Assembled in a contaminatefree environment. The exterior of each case is labeled with a lot number. Each case contains a copy of wash "Standard Operating Procedure". CLASS 3: (Certified) Containers are processed according to E.P.A. recommended wash procedures - Washed with laboratory-grade biodegradable, non-phosphate detergent; Rinsed with ASTM Type I De-ionized water; Oven dried; and Assembled in a contaminatefree environment. The exterior of each case is labeled with a lot number. Each case contains a "Certificate of Analysis". An independent laboratory is used to certify the container s cleanliness, assuring impartial results.
