4 Visualization VITOM SPINE provides excellent depth of field, magnification, contrast and color reproduction for a FULL HD experience. The surgical field is visualized with an autoclavable HOPKINS II telescope with built-in fiberoptic light guide, and a 1080p Image 1 HD camera. 1. Depth of field The excellent depth of field brings the entire surgical site into clear focus. 2. Magnification High magnification is achieved with the optical zoom of the Image 1 HD camera system and a large HD monitor. 3. Resolution Image 1 HD offers the highest resolution ever for video imaging 1080p60. It acquires and displays surgical images in 16:9 for the widest and most natural aspect ratio possible. The technology uses progressive scanning at 60 frames per second to capture fast-moving objects and produce sharper still images during surgical procedures. Additionally, it uses 3 CCD technology, the proven standard in today s OR. Because the camera head can be mounted to the proximal end of any telescope, every specialty benefits from our IMAGE 1 HD solution.

5 4 5 The KARL STORZ Full HD technology offers a display resolution of over 2 million pixels in a 16:9 format. Compared with our SD systems, Image 1 HD with 1080p resolution and progressive scanning provides 6 times more pixel resolution twice as often to give 12 times more information in each second of video you see. For spine surgeons, High Resolution video means more anatomically relevant details. Tissue layers, fine vascularization, small epidural bleeding, CSF leaks etc. become perfectly visible. HD imaging also provides an unmatched sense of depth to improve anatomical orientation. Overall, surgeons see more and better. Illumination The integrated illumination feature of the VITOM system provides ideal illumination of the operative field. Flexible alignment possibilities allow smooth illumination of the surgical site so that no details are lost in the shadows.

6 Documentation The use of VITOM SPINE enables a surgeon to acquire FULL HD images and video sequences. The KARL STORZ AIDA documentation system combines all the required functions for integrated and precise documentation during surgery in a single system: AIDA records still images and video sequences in HD quality via touch screen, voice control, footswitch or camera head buttons. Before archiving, the saved data can be viewed, selected and stored. Once a procedure is completed, AIDA automatically stores the data on CDs, DVDs, external devices or uploaded to a network.

It provides a close and unobstructed view, in HD, of the surgical field to audiences in and outside of the OR. 8 Ergonomics VITOM SPINE is an extracorporeal optical system that is positioned at 25 to 60 cm above the surgical site, giving the surgeon plenty of working space. The VITOM SPINE telescope is thereby held by a mechanical or pneumatic holding device. Due to the slim and compact design of VITOM SPINE, the surgical field is not blocked and even long instruments can be used with ease. The pneumatic POINT SETTER holding arm is recommended for its ergonomics. It provides finger-tip control for one handed operation and quick positioning. Large HD displays allow the surgeons and the OR staff to all follow the procedure from a comfortable and convenient distance. This helps improve team co ordination and workflow in the OR.
