1 Release Notes DX8100 Series HVR Version 2.0 The DX8100 Series hybrid video recorder (HVR) version 2.0 includes new features as well as operational changes and updates. Refer to the following before installing and operating the unit. NOTE: For technical issues, contact Pelco Product Support at (USA and Canada) or (international). New Features Analog and IP Camera Support The DX8100 Series hybrid video recorder (HVR) supports a variety of analog and IP network cameras, camera systems, and the device utility software. Alternatively, use the Pelco Device Utility software to locate the IP and MAC address for specific Pelco cameras. Use the DX8100 IP Properties dialog box to configure IP camera settings. Alternatively, use a standard Web browser (for example Microsoft Internet Explorer ) to configure IP camera settings. Use the Pelco Device Utility software to upgrade Pelco IP cameras. Use the DX8100 IP Properties dialog box to configure AXIS IP camera settings. Alternatively, use a standard Web browser (for example Microsoft Internet Explorer) to configure IP camera settings. DX8100 Analog and IP Camera Configurations Model Maximum Analog Minimum IP Total Number of Supported Cameras* DX DX DX DX *The number of IP cameras can be increased on any model by disabling analog cameras. External USB JBOD Storage The USB JBOD (just a bunch of disks) storage system allows you to easily increase the DX8100 video recording storage capacity. A USB cable is used to connect the JBOD device to the DX8100 server. The DX8100 has been tested with the USB 2.0 JBOD ICY DOCK model MB561US-4S. Pelco tested this unit with a maximum capacity of four Seagate 1.5 TB Barracuda (model ST AS) drives. For information about the ICYDOCK MB561US-4S, go to NOTE: Pelco does not sell or support external USB 2.0 JBOD storage devices. 3 Remote Client Supports up to 200 DX8100 Servers The DX8100 Series HVR Client application can connect simultaneously with up to 200 HVR servers (running version 2.0 and below). Up to 200 DX8100 server sites can be added to the Connection List. Other New Features Ability to stream IP cameras (Pelco and Axis) When a group from Site Setup is deleted it doesn t delete the servers in the group Setup Schedule menu does not allow the user to quickly access camera settings Screen division buttons change upon releasing mouse Can send emergency notification without photo clip New version of Allocreset.exe for final DX8100 Image Ability to activate Windows through Safe Mode NOTES: The uninterruptible power supply (UPS) functionally is not supported on Windows XP. You must purchase a software-only upgrade for DX8100 Windows XP Embedded to upgrade your existing DX8100 version 1.0, 1.1, or 1.2 system running Windows For information about upgrading your system, contact Pelco Product Support at (USA and Canada) or (international). Product Updates Operating System Support The DX8100 HVR version 2.0 supports Windows XP Embedded only. Windows 2000 is no longer supported for version 2.0 and above. Working with System Logs If the Log View dialog box displays multiple System On notifications but does not display any System Off notifications, the unit has crashed. For information about this issue, contact Product Support. Documentation Updates DX8100 Important Security Information Manual Previous versions of the DX8100 Important Security Information manual state that Pelco will provide a list of approved Windows updates upon request. Pelco no longer provides this list. For more information about Windows updates, contact Pelco Product Support. DX8100 Installation Manual The Drobo JBOD instructions in Configuring the DX8100 to Use External Storage on page 80 of the DX8100 Installation manual are in error. This unit should not be used as an external storage device. For correct information, refer to External USB JBOD Storage on page 2 of this document. DX8100 Quick Start Operation Manual All references to DX8100 Series digital video recorder (DVR) are in error. This product is a DX8100 Series hybrid video recorder (HVR). C1016RN (7/09) Page 3 of 6

4 DX8100 Major Fixes Encounter ODBC Microsoft Access Driver Login Failed-System Resource Exceeded and Site App Error. Zoomed image stays zoomed after user exits search mode and re-enters. Help Menu Updated with features of version 2.0. Web DVR crashes when the window is moved around erratically. Reverse frame by frame function does not work right away in search. When setup ATM/POS incorrectly, it will crashed the server. Audio Channel Disable check box still checked when AUX Audio Channel option is being used. MUX ribbon connector can cause video issues. Logged in as Power User; can t safely remove USB stick. Changing user group privileges does not change existing users privileges. On-board Audio for the DX8100 does not work on new motherboards. DX8100 Dual Display Will Drop Camera Panels on Secondary Display when connected to one or more sites. New installs of IE7 not working with the WebDVR. DX8100 WebDVR Admin Login locks out all cameras. DX8100 Video shows a black line on the side of Video. DX XPe Driver Error. Connection time out at 140msec of latency or higher. DX8100 Web Client Auto Connects. DX8100 BNC <not composite> 2nd monitor doesn't work. Missing frames in export. DX Adjustment on playback viewer. WebDVR does not display IP cameras. Grammatical error in warning window when all fields of the IP camera setting is not filled. Server crashes while attempting to add or remove IP cameras. IP camera FPS setting on the camera tree is incorrect. Manual Update: IP cameras do not show up under frame rate configuration. DX8100 loses video from IP cameras. Setting an IP camera to motion recording will crash the server. Adding Axis 221 and 211M IP camera restarts the system. Changing motion sensitivity and number of blocks on IP cameras will restart the system. Occurs 2 out of 3 machines. Random dx8000setup.dll client crash. Client not receiving streaming video from server after being connected for several hours. Changing camera security on IP cameras will reboot the system. Web DVR does not display video from IP cameras. Cannot perform PTZ on Axis 231D+. Power Cycling Axis 211IP camera will not reconnect itself to the designated DX8100 server. Cannot perform CD/DVD export from the client (Nero Required). Webdvr crashes after about 30 minutes of use. IP cameras cannot be added to the secondary display. 8 & 16 Channel units do not allow backup of added cameras such as IP cameras. 5 No playback of motion video. There is no audio possible from either the client or the server (PAL environment). Unable to open DVD export (in PAL environment. Analog video is not detected immediately after plugging into dx8100 video patch. Manual Change: Unable to set PTZ pattern on Spectra III (PAL). Clear button on the client does not work. Manual Update: IP cameras do not show up in Analog Monitor. Maximizing frame rates and then adding IP cameras will cause a crash loop. Scheduler.dll crash. Alarm Recording in PAL. Setting Camera Video Loss Option for IP Camera Causes DX8100 to Repeatedly Reboot. Color adjustment does not work on IP cameras. Web client's activex needs to be sign. IRIS setting does not work in Axis 231D. Shutting down produces error message. Restarting the server causes error message. Importing system configuration disables IP camera. Manual Update: Norton Antivirus does not support Windows Embedded. Symantec does not run while DX8100 shell is running. DX Motion OSD Indicating wrong recording length. Manual Update: Trend Micro Antivirus found multiple security holes in DX8100 after initial Scan. Software Crash on French Language Remote Client. No video (black video loss screen) from Sarix cameras. Client application shows client computer s resource usage instead of server s (now shows DX8100 server). DX8100 Image needs IE 7 for IP camera support. Weird text characters in client installation. Delete button for IP camera s is only active if the camera is not enabled. CPU indicator on the client shows local machine status and not server. DX8100 takes 2 minutes 10 seconds longer than the web application to connect to IP110 camera after power cycle Motion alarm does not trigger pattern. (PAL). Icy Dock Errors. Cannot view IP cameras in 32 channel setup. IP cameras will not display from servers that were added through site setup. Recording Icy Dock Error - Icy Dock does not overwrite once it is full. DX Network Audit Failure - Nessus Application. Emergency Transmission does not work (SSL not supported). Not able to export more than 1.39 GB to a DVD. Adding multiple IP camera does not save in camera setup if user does not hit apply. IP camera will appear as black in DX8100 after adding it to the camera list. Adding 1 full frame rate IP camera will spike CPU to 90%. Axis menu configuration does not automatically save when accessed through DX8100 IP camera browser. Unable to use web interface with the Sarix camera. Sarix camera does not work with the WebDVR. C1016RN (7/09) Page 5 of 6

6 Web DVR does not work with Internet Explorer version 6. Stream option on IP 110 camera does not make a difference in dx8100. Search after DST (Fall) is not working properly. Updating from 1.2 Client to 2.0 will delete the client site list. DX If two MUX cards are installed, cannot view IP camera on live video. Connecting to Sarix Camera takes longer than normal pelco IP camera. The volume function does not work. Manual Update: Cycle Views does not work properly with IP cameras. Axis media controller need to be installed in image. Live audio does not work on server. The client does not export video in the correct video dimensions. Encounter DX8100 Runtime crash when setting up 200 sites. Manually changing baud rate to 1200 in Port/Device Setting will cause a crash. Manual Update: Changing a frame rate setting on an individual camera will display N/A as the frame rate. Resource warning window on client does not reference server resource. Selecting Favorite button deletes all sites. Playback on the DX8124 produces choppy video. Video Gaps on DX8124. Sarix Configuration Changes Freezes that DX8100. Contact Information Pelco, Inc.
